St Mary’s in the Woods
Vacant site next to the New Pavilion
St Mary’s in the woods
The interior of the church has burned down and the site requires redevelopment. The Church has endured a lot since 1878 and holds many memories. Even though all the woodwork and the stained glass is destroyed the walls still remain as a landmark. With structural reinforcement of the walls the former church could become an amazing performance space. The walls will keep all the memories, but the place itself will have it’s own function. A performance area under the sky, surrounded by trees brought from the ashes of this temple sound magical.
Site adjacent to the New Pavilion
The vacant site next to the New Pavilion cinema has a very good location, just at the end of the Queen street and it just sits there with no function. Young people from Morley search for entertainment in Leeds, but what if they could find it right here. A new nightclub is going resurrect the night life of Morley. During the late nineties up until 2003 there was a club in Morley hosting the biggest techno, trance and hard house DJ’s in the world. The goal is to bring some of that spirit back to Morley. The Nightclub would have a contemporary design and would offer the people of Morley music, socializing and most importantly, dancing. The nightclub could even bring people to Morley.
Windsor Court
The Redevelopment proposal for Windsor Court is a pavilion, offering shelter, seating places, performance areas, art and crafts exhibition areas and a meeting place. The Design is inspired by the 7 hills on with Morley was established .
