Celebration time at the awards

READING police station hosted the Commanders’ Commendation Ceremony, celebrating the hard work and achievements of police officers, staff and members of the public

Awards were presented to officers, staff and members of the public , recognising the contributions they have made to the community

Some of the work under taken by these brave people includes effor ts to save the lives of others, apprehend offenders and help those who are most vulnerable .

Detective Constable Amy Hopes, police staff member Mark Heybourne and another officer were commended for their work on an investigation into coordinating a series of dwelling burglaries across three different policing areas and liaising with the victims and witnesses throughout This resulted in six years imprisonment for the offender.

After their quick thinking, resourcefulness and braver y, PC Nathan Tingley, PC Kathr yn Sharpe , PC Tullia Burgess, PC Ross Barrett and a member of the public , Mr Rober t Adshead, were commended for their actions when someone jumped from a bridge into the river.

Shopping centre security staff, Barr y Smith, Viada Dumbravaite and Michael

Opoku were commended for their quick thinking when they helped a woman in distress in the shopping mall

PC Dave Bradbrook, PC Sam Offord and another officer were also commended for their calmness under pressure and decision making when helping a woman in distress in a shopping mall for his contribution to the community through his neighbourhood policing role He is dedicated to making the community a safer place , building strong relationships and working with par tners.

Member of the public , Michael Petch, was recognised for his exceptional courage and quick actions when commencing CPR on a man who had collapsed in September 2022 He delivered life-saving first aid

Member of police staff, Ian Roy, was commended for his work within Force CID Ian’s eye for detail and extensive knowledge helps him to deliver a high quality ser vice to the public .

Detective Constable Nicole Jur y was commended for showing exceptional levels of victim care through her investigations.

Police staff members Mark Heybourne and Phoebe Mayo were commended for their cross border investigation into burglar y and thefts

Following a complex investigation, PC Lincoln Houghton and Detective Sergeant Adam Wise were commended for bringing offenders to justice through their dedication and professionalism.

Reading Local Policing Area Commander, Supt Steve Raffield, said: “This event is a wonderful celebration to recognise the hard work and achievements of officers, staff and volunteers, as well as thanking those who go above and beyond.

“All the winners tonight should be ver y proud and it is my pleasure to thank you on behalf of Thames Valley Police and the wider community of Reading.”
