Narratives in Modern Arabic Literature explores the impact of place, gender, and Ṣūfī motifs on contemporary Arabic literature. Through meticulous analysis of iconic works, it challenges norms and offers a nuanced understanding of identity, making it essential for scholars of Arabic literature and cultural studies.
The present Dictionary is the first dictionary of English words imitative by origin. These include words perceived as imitative in Present-day English (bow-wow, peep) as well as words derived from imitative roots (cliché, cicada). The Dictionary reveals patterns in the diachronic development, origin, and etymology of more than 1320 words.
The study focuses on spatio-temporal relations and their dependence on literary genres in Paul Auster’s fiction. The author examines how selected novels reflect and redefine both the representation of space and formulaic patterns of genres they can be categorised as.

When her coworker Trude becomes pregnant to her boss, and is sacked, Erna draws on her working-class background to organize her more genteel colleagues into a protest strike.
Previously unavailable in English, Salim Barakat’s Sages of Darkness depicts Kurdish life in the period of transition from a traditional tribal existence to half-hearted modernization under the Ottomans.

Das Buch hat zum Ziel, das Vorkommen der Burgherrschaft in Deutschland aufzuzeigen und dabei die innere Struktur der Burgherrschaft zu untersuchen. Gegenstand der Untersuchung sind vier Burgen der Grafen von Falkenstein. Als Hauptquelle dient der „Codex Falkensteinensis“, der im Sommer 1166 im Kloster Herrenchiemsee in Oberbayern entstand.

Diese werden in ihrer Funktion analysiert und in zwei Gruppen nach ihrer Bedeutung unterteilt. Für jede Partikel werden äquivalente Ausdrucksmittel im Italienischen anhand eines Korpus geschriebener Texte identifiziert.
