Site Plan

HOOVER Role: Project coordinator/Job Captain working through SD, DD & CD-phases. Project type: Co Living / Multi-family Residential, 6 levels residential over 1 level of subterranean parking. Firm: Bittoni Architects 2023 Located in an existing residential and commercial area, the project provides 40 units of various bedroom types, with 4 units set aside for affordable housing. Occupying 3 lots, the building maintains the articulation of a typical single-family / low-density massing while accommodating the maximum height allowed through the TOC incentives. Reaching 6 stories, the apartments feature a roof deck and various balconies with generous open space for the co-living residents. Covered balconies are recessed within the massing, making them more intimate and shielded from their neighbors. The rooftop balconies set back 15’ from the front edge of the building, providing large open space for the units and helping minimize the impact of the building height from the street. 50 parking spaces are provided on the lower level, which allows units to occupy the ground floor with patio space on the street. The size of the site allows more parking than is required for TOC, an extra benefit for residents who want the flexibility to drive Inspired by mid-century California modernist architect Irving Gill, the project nods to a minimal aesthetic with clean, rectangular masses and arched openings. In lieu of one large residential mass, the project is split into 3 smaller masses with open-air corridors running between. low-impact development standards, capturing rainwater within planters and harvesting it for future watering. Arches and rounded corners at the edge of the masses further soften the building’s edges to its surroundings.

DUBAI STADIUM The stadium is located in the not so densely populated areas of the desert in Dubai, and appears like a mirage as you approach it. The chrome facade reflects everything under and thereby almost disappears to the visible eye. Within the territory of the form there are two major depressions or inverted hills which includes the sports stadium and a hotel. The stadium, which is optimized for soccer, has the capacity of 40 000 seats. It can be accessed from several directions and the lower bowl is accessible directly from the podium and landscape. A skywalk is situated within the roof structure at high level to facilitates a diarect connection between the Hotel and Stadium and reaches out to the roof edge to give amazing views towards the coastline. The ground under the chromium envelope consists of a major landscape area with pathways that takes you to gardens, activity areas and marketplaces. The vegetation density thickens towards the edge of the masterplan. Some of the pockets are hard landscaped, and linked together form a series of plazas to accommodate both permanent and temporary facilities. This project was used as a proposal for a competition that CRAB studio got invited to for a soccer stadium in Dubai in 2014.

BUDAPEST MUSEUM OF ETHNOGRAPHY The cone shapes define the different sections of the museum, both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The circulation goes along a winding pathway at a slope which alternates between interior and exterior. The cones are shaped in insitu concrete with perforation scattered in certain places in the walls to filter in light and the circulation pathways have walls made out of steel truss glass frames with varying translucent glass panels. The rood consists of panels that provides shading from direct sunlight. Daylight is provided by north facing windows and reflected indirect light is used in exhibition space. This project was used as a proposal for a competition that CRAB studio got invited to for the museum of ethnography in Budapest in 2014.

THE GATEWAY TO PARADISE This is a fictional project made by me at Lund University in 2013. The project is a major re-design of a block in Lund, Sweden. The block named ”Paradis” (eng paradise) is saturated with students during the day, but left empty and dead at night. This proposal consists of some bigger changes to improve the livelihood here even after office hours. By opening up a new gate in the previous solid wall we created a way to easier promote shortcuts thru the block. But also by incorporating new interesting buildings, housing, commercial spaces for hospitality and study areas for students.
