General Dentistry Dentistry for the whole family At Dental Care @ Southport, we believe that good oral hygiene is vital when starting your family on the path to a healthy mouth for life. That’s why our dentists are particularly interested in children’s oral health. Regular checkups at your dentist, together with a good preventive program that includes correct brushing, flossing and a balanced diet, are some of the most important things you can do towards total health care. Monitoring the health of your children’s teeth in the early stages of their life is imperative to prevent, detect and treat problems that may occur as your child matures. We can also help you and your family to become confident in implementing a preventive program at home.

Preventive Dentistry Oral hygiene Our dedicated hygienists give you special attention which is essential to your long-term dental health. They will teach you how to effectively care for your teeth and gums and give advice on how to maintain your oral health.
Gum disease If you’ve ever experienced red, swollen gums that bleed easily when you brush and floss, you may be on the path to gum disease. Gum disease is the most common cause of tooth loss, but fortunately, an effective oral hygiene routine will prevent the progression of gum disease and improve your overall oral health.
Fissure seals Fissure seals are resin coating applied to teeth to prevent plaque from damaging the pits and fissures in your teeth. Fissure seals are especially recommended for coating all first molars (from around 6yrs) and second molars (around 12yrs) in order to prevent early tooth decay.

Restorative Dentistry Crowns & Bridges Providing strength, protection and a natural toothlike appearance, crowns and bridges are used to restore or replace decayed, chipped or cracked teeth. Made from high quality porcelain, crowns are a complete cover for a single tooth, while bridges can replace one or more missing teeth, by utilising the teeth either side of the space as support. Both treatment options offer strength, durability and performance, and are custom made and fitted to prevent movement of your teeth and give you back your perfect smile.
Inlays and Onlays Inlays and onlays are a natural looking alternative to restorations. Made from porcelain, they are custom made to fit and fill most types of cavities, and are almost impossible to distinguish from your natural teeth. Unlike conventional restorations, which require the removal of large amounts of healthy tooth, only the damaged portion of the tooth needs to be removed.
Implants Used when replacing an entire missing tooth, dental implants offer much greater stability than traditional dentures because they are literally ‘implanted’ into your gum where they integrate with your jawbone. Designed to look and function in a similar way to natural teeth, implants are an excellent solution where there is not enough anchoring teeth for bridges, or when a denture cannot be worn.

Cosmetic Dentistry White restorations Gone are the days of unsightly black restorations. Also known as composite resins, white restorations are a mixture of acrylic resin, fine glass and silicon particles that produce a tooth coloured restoration. Sculptured onto your teeth for a flawless look and hardened through use of a specially developed blue light, these restorations provide excellent durability and resistance to fracture.
Veneers & Bonding A thin shell-like piece of porcelain, a veneer is placed over your existing front teeth and when bonded to the front surface, becomes incredibly strong and durable. Veneers can be incorporated to close gaps, straighten crooked teeth, repair chips and cover permanent stains. A fast and extremely aesthetic solution, veneers can provide you with a great looking and long-lasting smile.
Lumineers Lumineers are a custom-designed, ultra thin alternative to traditional veneers. Unlike traditional veneers, there are no injections, no drilling of sensitive tooth structure, and no pain. Lumineers can help bring out your beautiful, healthy, permanently white smile. They have been proven to last for over 20 years, so your beautiful smile will be with you for years and years. One of only twelve dentists in Queensland qualified to apply Lumineers, Dr Calderon would be delighted to speak with you about Lumineers at your next scheduled appointment.
Invisalign Invisalign is the clear alternative to metal braces. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth with results you’ll notice sooner than you think. The Invisalign course of treatment involves changing aligners approximately every two weeks, moving your teeth into straighter position step by step, until you have a more beautiful smile. And unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth as usual.
