Secular Properties is a project that initially started in 2015. The project is about a proposal of the artist to the municipality of Tinos island, regarding the construction of an amphitheater at the court yard of the former primary school of Isternia village. This project grasps the idea of a theater as a public sculpture at the location and it is organically connected to the Tinos Quarry Platform, as an open invitation to a “collaborative sculpture. http://tinosquarryplatform.com/exhibitions/

Tinos Quarry Platform was founded in 2015. The project is an initiative designed and run by the artist, with a residency program that is taking place annually at the village of Isternia, on Tinos island, in Cyclades in Greece, with the aim to function as a platform for encounters between artists, curators, theorists, locals, and visitors. More than just a residency centre, the platform promotes opportunities for research and experimentation. The Cycladic landscape contributes a lot to that.Tinos Quarry Platform invites artists to work in this serene environment, facilitates the interaction with the local community and culture of Tinos promoting contemporary art in all its diverse forms within an international context and stimulates creativity through direct contact with nature by establishing workshops, exhibitions, and open-air art events in the regional area of the island. That gives a nomadic character to the whole process.

ode to future gravitational systems I drove the car in the outskirts I found big rocks around and I wanted to take them with me. I am building something. Architecture is a trans person, as the Future is. The image is a digital 3D model, of a study for a Monument for the New Mainstream. The object’ s form, is the complete opposite form, of a metallic pot on fire. The gravity in the construction though, is feminin, as in everything else and she decides whether she would keep it upright, or not.

Staring at the tide. It’s never too much / 2014 / sound sculpture / mixed media / variable dimensions Petros Touloudis approaches the cuboid shape of the tunnel measuring it from one side to the other with the sculptural qualities of sound. Two megaphones covered in mussel’s shells and situated at both ends of the space emit sounds reminiscent of primitive vocal signals. The extreme simplicity of the call narrows down the meaning and the relations between the ends of the tunnel to the minimum the sound is connected to the objects that produce it by a preverbal ‘signal degree zero’. Since staring is not enough to understand a physical change, the sculptures interpret the space and the sound as instruments of locaon of the self and of the others as well as a basis for mediating a shared language. - Michelangelo Corsaro BRDG#23, Antwerp 2014 https://vimeo.com/96692542

The Artist Avoids the Future / 2013 / installation view metal, papier-mâché, concrete, rubber bands variable dimensions / 4th Athens Biennale AGORA Moving with ease between visual art, architecture and stage design, Petros Touloudis manages to combine the applied skill of an experienced craftsman with the visionary approach of a filmmaker. In AGORA, he presents the sculptural installation, The Arist Avoids the Future (2013), which consists of a concrete altar and some hovering abstract forms. Suggesting palm fronds or birds’ wings, these forms are like a three-dimensional drawing in space. In answer to the question ‘And now what?’ of this year’s Biennale, this work grasps -in Touloudis’ words‘the notion of the Future, not in the Futurists’ sense as a fascinating utopia basking in the messianic light of technological development but, by now, as a dire agony or as a measure of revisiting and comparing the Past, and even more as a realization of the Present. Ultimately, as the artist notes, his installation is something like a ‘supplication’ addressed to mankind with the aim of stopping Time. -Christopher Marinos (Excerpt from the 4th Athens Biennale catalog)
