JOIN JOIN T THE HE C COLD OLD R REVOLUTION EVOLUTION

Studio 19 was the first clinic to offffer this outstanding treatment in Cheltenham and has gone from strength to strength with many amazing results and very happy clients.

What is Cryotherapy and what does it treat?

Cryopen is an advanced Cryotherapy innovation that is a fast, effective, safe and new solution for removal of skin imperfections. Procedures typically last from 5 to 30 seconds, so you can be in and out of the salon quickly, but with the assurance of the utmost client care. Cryopen emits a fine jet of Nitrous Oxide under high pressure, which allows the work to be performed at millimetre precision. This destroys the tissue by freezing the fluid, which ruptures the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. This means there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue around the area, as it is so incredibly precise and accurate. Cosmetic procedures such as skin tags, milia and cherry anginomas are no longer being treated by Doctors on the NHS, but with Cryopen you can now have them removed in the salon!

Back B ack tto o tthe he 9 90s 0s Being born in 1997, I am just about c a te g o r i s e d a s a 9 0 s c h i l d . T h i s i s something I am proud of – what a brilliant decade to grow up in. My true 90s-self came out the other day when I bought myself a clear s h o u l d e r b a g w i t h a h u g e ye l l ow smiley face printed on the front of i t . I a b s o l u t e l y l ov e d i t , u n t i l i t unfortunately ripped only 2 weeks later! I guess that ’s what I get for trusting all my belongings in a thin plastic shoulder bag. Anyway, that’s beside the point. What I’m trying to say is, the 90s trend is back!

This month, although I have been avoiding make up as much as possible, I’m going to explore the ‘wash and go’ look , which is brilliant in the summer months, and how those bright pink eyeshadows are back in – something that excites me greatly. Wash and go – is that lazy-talk for “don’t bother dressing up or making

up because that ’s the trend this summer”? Basically, yes, and I am loving it . Natural hair is what people are loving lately. So, give that hair a wash and leave it to naturally dry – not even using a hairdryer. No matter what the outcome is, you’ll look trendy. I f yo u fe e l yo u r h a i r can’t be trusted to dry neatly by itself, a p r o d u c t I u s e d to u s e regularly is salt spray. Protecting Protecting yyourself ourself When we meet people starting up their own businesses, particularly for the first time, we are always asked about the matters that they should be considering. Many of them are surprised, I’m not sure why, when we mention insurance, as it’s a business protection that none of us can do without . It would be easy to get carried away and insure against every eventuality, but there are some risks against which adequate insurance is an absolute must. Some of them are actually a legal requirement.

Taake employer’s and public liability for example. Unless there is only you in the business, employer ’s liability insurance is a mandatory requirement. Very few claims under these policies are made by small businesses, but for those few who do suffer a claim, it ’s an absolute lifeline against financial wipe-out . Public liability is in the same category if you have business premises or go to work at someone else’s property. There are small business policies readily available to cover these risks as well as office contents, etc. But what about slightly more specialist cover that might be needed for your particular business? Product liability if you’re selling goods; professional indemnity if you are providing services. Without adequate cover, you are again in wipe-out territory if a claim is successfully made. Although limited liability protection is available to those trading through a company, more and more cases are being taken against individuals rather than corporate entities. Insurance can often be demanded by those providing funding to the business. The most common requirement is for there to be cover in the event of something happening to the person that makes the business tick – keyman cover as it is popularly known. And what happens if there are two of you involved in the business and something happens to one party? Does the survivor really want the estate of his or her former partner involved with the ongoing business? Almost certainly not , so should there be some form of insurance to provide a payment in these circumstances so that you can retain control of the business?

D Determine etermine w which hich o off tthese hese rrisks isks rreally eally a affect ffect yyour our ssituation ituation Most of us will take out travel insurance for our holidays, but does that cover business trips? Are our employees covered on their car insurance for using their vehicles for business? The list and questions go on and on. The key is to determine which of these risks really affect your situation and then make sure you have adequate protection in place for you and your loved ones.

The Winchcombe Town Football Club stalwart made his debut almost 14 years ago at the age of 16 and is as enthusiastic about the game today as he was back then. “I played my first game for the first team on 18th October 2003,” he remembers without having to stop to think . “It was a Cheltenham League Senior Charities Cup tie against Newton Heath – they were a good side back in the day – and it was a bit of a baptism of fire. “I was a holding midfielder back then. The game was played at Whaddon rec and we lost 3- 0.” Major had just left Winchcombe School for Bournside Sixth Form when he made his debut and, like so many teenagers, he was unaware of the exam he was about to face.

While the town’s cricket and rugby c l u b s h a ve e s t a b l i s h e d b a s e s a t Swilgate and the Vineyards respectively in the shadow of the imposing Tewkesbury Abbey, the football club find themselves spread all over the town with no place that they can call home. It’s something James Heath, a onetime player and now chairman of the club’s Colts, wants to rectify as soon as possible. “We need our own clubhouse and our own ground,” he said. “It ’s something we’re crying out for. The cricket club and rugby club have got their own grounds, so why can’t we? That ’s the dream and hopefully something might happen soon.”

“It all happened quite quickly,” he said. “I’d had a couple of games for the reserves and then I got called up to play in the first team. “I didn’t really realise what was going on. Tewkesbury Park golf course with the town’s abbey in the distance

Neil Neil Smith Smith is is loving loving llife ife aass ccaptain aptain So often you hear about how the pressure of captaincy affects a player’s form. That is certainly not the case with Neil Smith, however, who took over as captain at Tewkesbury Park Golf Club at the start of the year. The 45-year-old was playing off 11 when he spoke to The Local Answer and said: “It will come down. I want to be in single figures – I’m a single figure handicapper waiting to happen! “It’s already come down a shot since the start of the year and my ambition is to be a 5, 6 or 7-handicapper.” Smith has only really been playing golf for the past seven years or so, s t a r t i n g w i t h S h e rd o n s b e f o r e switching to Tewkesbury, so he has come a long way in a short time. The Churchdown School teacher, w h o l i ve s j u s t a l o n g R o r y M c I l roy drive from the golf course that has become his second home, played fo o t b a l l , r u g b y a n d c r i c k e t i n h i s younger days. “I didn’t play to any great standard,” he said, “but I always enjoyed playing wherever I was and I always enjoyed the social side. I’d have kept on playing but I didn’t want knackered knees!” These days he says golf is “by far” the number one sport in his life. It was the social aspect that attracted him to Tewkesbury Park , however.

Neil Smith

“I got invited along to one of their club nights,” he said. “I walked into the bar and after 10 minutes I felt like I knew half the people there. It was a really good atmosphere. I thought, ‘I’ll fit in well here’.” The affable Smith was soon enjoying himself on the course as well as in the bar. He was captain of the club’s North Gloucestershire Foursomes League B team three years ago and is proud of a record that reads a bit like Nick Faldo’s Ryder Cup singles record – won 6, drawn 1, lost 2. These days he organises the club’s friendly matches against the likes of Forest of Arden, Weston-Super-Mare,

Lydney and St Pierre, so his time is pretty full-on at the club. So, is he enjoying the captaincy? “Yes, I am,” he said. “Of course it can have its moments but it ’s a great honour. I like talking to other people whether it be golfers from our club or p l ay e r s f ro m o t h e r c l u b s . I s u p p o s e you could call me a social butterfly.” He receives plenty of feedback , of course, and nearly all of it is good, especially when it comes to the course. No less an expert than Peter McEvoy, one of this country’s best ever amateur golfers, has had an input on the shape of the course over the years and Smith is fulsome in his praise for the set-up a n d ow n e r s ’ m a s s i ve i n ve s t m e n t i n the course and hotel. “The course looks absolutely fantastic,” Smith said, “it ’s truly awesome. The greens are so true and the fairways are very well manicured. T h e g r o u n d s m a n C h r i s B r o m l ey h a s done a wonderful job.” So how long will it be before a Smith junior rocks up at the club? “Not for a while,” laughed Smith, who is married to Rebecca. “My eightyear-old son Sam has started swinging a club in the garden but he’s far more interested in football. “And my daughter Robyn, who is 10, is obsessed with dancing – contemporary, modern, tap and ballet.”
