CharltonKingsParishCouncil Partnership in Action

CKPC is delighted to announce that it has become a partner in a newly established police-led Youth Taskforce for Charlton Kings, with the aim of developing practical solutions and interventions for our young people, and to help them thrive and re-build after what has been a very challenging couple of years.

The Taskforce was created earlier this year by the Neighbourhood Policing Team, following a very well attended Community Building workshop, which allowed some great conversations to take place between Police Community Officers, members of the Parish Council, local elected representatives, the community and Cheltenham Town Football Club.

Delivering youth wellbeing projects

For our part in this exciting community initiative, we have committed to working with our partners to deliver the following youth wellbeing projects over the coming year: • On-going collaborative work with Balcarras School, following an investigation into the postcovid health and wellbeing of our young people. You can read the full report on our wellbeing survey page at: https://bit.ly/3JNUYBt • Partnering with Cheltenham Borough Council to provide funding for a Cheltenham-wide detached youth work project delivered by Inspire to Aspire, a Social Enterprise company. The youth workers visit Grange Field, Charlton Kings every Monday afternoon after school, and can be recognised by their distinctive yellow hoodies! • Parish Council funding of a youth club for both juniors and seniors in Charlton Kings, initially for a six-month period, starting after Easter 2022. Venue, dates and times to follow on our website. • ‘Shaping the future’ – our environmental project CK Futures will promote ways to engage children and young people with the environment and nature, through local campaigns, outdoor activities and events.
