SO

much more

a holiday

than just

so many ways, our holidays are a very special kind of fun. u In We think every child should get the chance to experience their own adventure. Our holidays are so much more than what it says on the tin... for a start they are created just for kids! They get the chance to spend their school holidays trying our huge range of multi activities, laughing with new friends and old - all whilst getting a good dose of the great outdoors!

You’ve got to spread your wings before you can fly. For many it’s their first time staying away from home, which we know can be daunting for all the family - but we know the confidence, independence and memories created will be a worthy reward.

See it, hear it, explore it for yourself. The best way to understand what makes us special is to come and visit one of our centres yourself. Because that’s asking a lot, we’ve created this brochure and our website packed with information, photos, videos and virtual tours to bring what we do to life. Plus of course our expert team are always on hand to help you with any extra queries you may have!

our

NOT SO

secret

formula

experiences for every child, every time. u Unique Describing what our holidays consist of isn’t simple and that’s because they’re just like the children that take part... completely unique. We’ve been perfecting our formula for a long time and like most good things it’s not so secret. It’s all about the things that, as parents, we know count for so much – quality, experience, care and common sense. Our holidays are all about bringing children together to socialise, learn from each other and share the adventure.

Our staple ingredients: • We build high quality, safe adventure centres, dedicated to children, using only top quality equipment. • We employ a highly trained, motivated and compassionate team with specialist activity instructors. • We offer exciting and inventive holidays, without a dull moment from dawn ‘til dusk. • We include almost everything you need in the price.

Our holidays aren’t just special – they are exceptional! We believe we have a winning formula, offering terrific experiences for children to make lifelong friends and memories, plus reassurance and value for parents too.

IT’S

in

our dna think it’s important that you know who we u We are and what we’re all about. We’ve been pioneers of children’s adventure for over 60 years and we set the standards in what we do. We’ve welcomed thousands of schools, groups, families and children to PGL over the years and given every single guest an adventure to remember. In fact, last year more than 350,000 children came to our centres and that number is growing all the time.

Safety is our number 1 priority. We always put safety at the heart of everything we do. We invest heavily in our adventure centres, to ensure we are leading the field with the best quality equipment, activities and safety gear you’ll find. We’re constantly developing and expanding all of our centres, to bring you the best experience possible.

First class reputation. We are proud of everything we do. Whether it’s our highly trained staff who will teach your children new skills and care for their wellbeing, or offering the best choice of centres and activities, PGL standards are second to none. We believe in children and understand just how much adventure matters in life. These deeply held values have stayed with us since we were founded in 1957 and we don’t intend to change them any time soon.

u

Adventure awaits… go and find it! Our centres are in a class of their own. Each one is completely unique yet they all have one great thing in common – they are built specifically for children’s adventures.

Spoilt for choice. Our holidays take place at centres across the UK and France. There’s a whole range to choose from including our traditional countryside camps, waterside retreats, woodland hideaways or centres by the beach! Some centres are small and homely, perfect for our younger guests, whilst others are much bigger with hundreds of acres of outdoor space to explore! All of them are filled with purpose-built activity bases, including climbing towers, zip wires, giant swings and lots more. Just as each centre is unique, every child that visits us is too and with our huge range of locations, we’re confident we’ve got something to make everyone feel at home. Dalguise p46

WHAT A

difference makes a year

holidays and age groups are designed to suit every child. u Our Every year we welcome thousands of children to our adventure centres and it’s

fair to say, we understand more than most how different every child is and what a huge difference just one year can make. That’s why we work in small groups that create good group dynamics, but also allow for the youngest or oldest in each age range to overlap adjacent groups, so you can choose what’s best suited to your children. It’s also why we’ve developed over 20 different holidays to suit every interest, passion and personality.

Our age groups:

HH

We keep an extra eye on all our youngest guests but 7-10 8-10 they are usually the most reluctant to leave by the end!

H

We encourage more self-reliance in our busiest age group, with the widest choice of holidays.

10-13

H

As you’d expect, we allow more freedom but also know where to draw the boundaries too.

13-16

H

H

On our overseas adventures we operate slightly wider 9-13 13-17 age groups so even more children can enjoy the fun! Read on to explore our holidays (p14-29) and centres (p30-47).

They are filled with purpose-built activities including climbing towers, giant swings and zip wires! Some are small and homely; others are much bigger with acres of outdoor space. In fact, they’re in a class of their own.

SPECIAL SETTINGS

Built for adventure

Our centres are filled with purpose-built activities which make the most of their natural settings – raft build on a lake, canoe down a river, zipwire through a forest or tackle a high ropes course with a sea view! Whatever the activity you can rest assured that we put safety at the heart of everything we do, continually investing to create adventures that are bigger, better and safer.

Perfect for children

From small homely centres to those set in hundreds of acres – all of our centres have been chosen and designed with children and adventure in mind. Almost all have lakes and woodland, some have rivers or beaches and all have spaces to play and unwind – making them perfect settings for an unforgettable adventure in the great outdoors.

PGL staff TIME FOR BED Get settled in

After a full day of adventure followed by evening activities our popular Group Leaders (Groupies) will encourage teeth-brushing and ensure younger guests are settled and happy. Then, after lights out, our night duty staff take over – reassuring the anxious, encouraging the high spirited to settle and patrolling throughout the night to ensure everyone is well rested for another action-packed day.

With you for every step

HeaRTY FOOD For healthy appetites

Adventures make you hungry! We provide three healthy, high energy meals per day, with plenty of variety, supporting the five-a-day campaign as well as minimising added salt, sugar and fat. Meals take place in our welcoming dining rooms where our staff will be on hand to help – from choosing what to have, where to sit or where to find the mayo! Mealtimes at PGL are a happy, social time to relax and reflect on the day’s highlights.

We select our staff for being the very best at what they do: Specially trained, motivated and compassionate – from waking up the sleepy heads to encouraging the more nervous to push outside their comfort zones – the majority of our centre teams live on site and are there to keep your children safe and happy around the clock, whilst giving them the time of their lives.

LITTLE CANADA ISLE OF WIGHT

What’s it like?

Set in 48 acres of woodland on the banks of Wootton Creek, and with log cabin style accommodation, it would be easy to confuse Little Canada with the country from which it draws inspiration. We also boast private access direct to the water from our seafront locations don’t come much better than this! There are loads of different activities to try on land and on the water, or if you really want to make the best of this location then try our Wet & Wild holiday (see page 22).

Home of ‘Wet & Wild’ Fantastic creek-side location Wide range of activities

What facilities are there?

Little Canada has a fantastic range of Multi Activity bases including multiple climbing and abseil towers, an archery range, giant swing and our very own creek used for dragon boating during the warmer months. We also use the beach, just a short walk away, for canoeing, kayaking and many of the activities on the Wet & Wild holiday. Indoors you’ll find a large sports hall and, exclusive to Little Canada, the ‘Mysterious Matrix’.

What’s the accommodation like?

Many of our log cabins have recently been updated and refurbished. Most rooms sleep four to six children and have their own bathroom. The cabins are grouped together in small villages. 8-10’s usually stay in our cosy Woodland House, situated in the grounds with en-suite rooms.

TEAm SPIRIT

PGL Kids say it’s ‘the staff’ that make PGL holidays the best! Only the best will do

The PGL Team

Fully trained and highly skilled, it’s our team that make PGL holidays so popular and successful parents and children tell us so!

PGL Holiday Consultants – at your call

To maintain our standards of excellence we select only the very best of the thousands of candidates who apply every year. We assess them according to their previous work with children, entertainment skills, personality and activity qualifications and experience. Naturally all staff members are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service, formerly CRB) checked. Additionally, all new appointments are on probation for their first two to four weeks, and our full team are continually provided with training and assessments to ensure they meet our high standards. PGL’s commitment to staff training and development is unsurpassed. Our staff must be adept at bringing out the very best in children, while keeping them safe and happy - we ensure each one is trained and equipped with the skills, knowledge and attitude to give your children the time of their lives.

TOTAL PEACE OF mIND We put safety first, so you can relax. You can trust us to take your children’s welfare and happiness very seriously indeed.

Our Holiday Consultants are second to none and the first point of contact for you. Many of them are parents too and know our centres well, so are best placed to answer any questions you may have and help you make the right choices when booking.

they will be their main daily contact. Groupies get the lazy bones up in the morning, make sure everybody knows where they should be, encourage regular use of soap and toothpaste, eat meals with the children, organise wacky evening entertainments and boogie with them at the disco - the children simply love them! PGL Instructors

We get to know many PGL parents well and look forward to speaking to them several times a year. So please give us a call on 0333 321 2114. We’d love to hear from you!

Trained instructors take responsibility during activity sessions. We are very proud of our excellent safety record and insist our instructors enforce the highest possible safety standards. Where an appropriate formal qualification exists, instructors must hold it. Where no recognised qualifications exist, we carry out verified in-house training and assessments.

PGL Group Leaders – our famous ‘Groupies’!

PGL Centre Managers

On arrival at our UK centres, your child will join a small group of similarly aged children in the care of a Group Leader (or ‘Groupie’). Our Groupies are exceptional people, chosen for their ability to communicate with children and look after them. Responsible for your child’s social welfare,

Unlike many organisations, all PGL Centre Managers are on permanent, full-time contracts, many having worked their way through PGL’s own career pathway. They set the tone at their centres, and ensure that our PGL standards are adhered to, giving every guest an amazing experience.

Our staff maintain the highest safety standards and we’re regulated and licensed by all the appropriate bodies. Our stringent standards fully comply with the DFE (Department for Education) guidelines. We follow national guidelines and undertake fully comprehensive risk assessments. Frequently Asked Questions Be in the know Which centre is best for my child? Each of our centres are as unique as the children who attend them and there truly is something for everyone. Some centres are smaller and have a more homely traditional feel, whereas others offer huge areas to explore and a larger number of other guests to make friends with! It is important that whichever centre you choose is the right fit for your child and therefore we recommend visiting our centre web pages to take a look at our galleries and further information prior to booking at pgl.co.uk/holidays. Our team are always on hand to provide advice and answer any questions on 0333 321 2114.

Once your booking is confirmed: You will receive a ‘pre arrival questionnaire’, this is to gather more information so we can get to know your child better (e.g. notable life events, conduct, pastoral care needs etc.), this will need to be returned within 72 hours of receiving it. Prior to arrival: We require a Medical and Contact form to be submitted for all guests ahead of them arriving on centre and these can be completed within the ‘action required by you’ section of your MyPGL account. Don’t worry if you forget, we will send you a reminder nearer the holiday! All this information will be displayed within your MyPGL account and on your booking confirmation, therefore we ask that you check this is complete and correct and contact us if there are any additions or amends required.

What documents do I need if my child is travelling Overseas? For Overseas holidays, please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that your child has his/her own passport that is in date for the required travel destination and (if necessary) visa documentation.

Can my child share a room with a friend?

Contacts: It is compulsory that you provide the contact details of at least two nominated people that we can contact 24 hours a day in case of emergency, at least one of these being a next of kin and authorised and available to collect your child at the end of their holiday or should they leave centre prior to this.

Where a request is made for children to be in the same activity group and accommodation we will do our best to make sure this is possible, providing they are in the same age group, of the same gender and attending the same holiday. Please make sure you discuss the rooming request with our Holiday Consultants when booking so that this is noted on your account. Any request will need to be mirrored on all relevant bookings, therefore please ensure we have had contact from all parties prior to the holiday start date. Any rooming requests that cannot be honoured will not be communicated prior to arrival and we are unable to refund any holiday cancelled due to not being able to meet requests.

Booking Information: We require various important information about your child throughout the booking process:

Is there any flexibility in your age ranges?

What details will I need to provide?

Point of booking: - Your child’s full name - Your child’s date of birth -A ny special medical/dietary/personal information - Any Social or Behavioural conditions - Swimming ability

54

Parent Guide

The ‘overlap’ between our age ranges allows flexibility when there are a few years difference between brothers and sisters. It also means that, for example, a mature 10 year old may join a holiday for 10–13 year olds, whilst a ‘young’ 10 year old may be much happier on a holiday for the 7-10/8-10 age group. You know your own child best but please feel free to discuss the

options with our Holiday Consultants. Within these separate age bands, our practice is to group children of a similar age together for accommodation and activity arrangements, however, this may not be possible on some holidays when numbers are small, but this is rarely a problem because the interest in activities provides a common bond.

Can my child attend multiple weeks? Yes - if your child is staying for more than one week, we recommend that they either book onto a different holiday or try a different centre for the second week. Inter-centre transfers can be arranged between most centres. We will provide one machine wash at UK centres, usually at the end of their first holiday week. On the second Saturday of their holiday, guests will participate in activities on centre that are suitable for all age ranges and abilities whilst the centre prepares for new arrivals.

Are you able to support my child’s medical condition? We are able to support children requiring regular medication that can be self-administered. We do need to know the details and you will need to complete and submit the medical form found in your MyPGL account. If you are bringing medication (prescribed or otherwise) you will be required to hand this in on arrival. Please note that this will need to be in original packaging with dosage details enclosed.

What should I bring? Once you have made a booking, it’s important you read your essential information pack which you can download from your MyPGL account, as it contains lots of useful information, including a detailed list of what to bring.

Can I bring a mobile phone? We do allow children to bring mobile phones with them to centre, however we operate a strict mobile phone policy. Further details can be found on page 56.

Does my child need to be able to swim?

Can I contact my child while they are on centre?

Our watersports activities require a level of ‘water confidence’, which is defined as: - Ability to duck under water -C onfidently swim 25 metres* in a life jacket or buoyancy aid without signs of panic. *50 metres for Surfing, Ardèche and Watersports holidays, page 24, 28 & 29.

You will be able to call the centre directly during your child’s holiday and arrange to speak to them or we will pass on any messages. We do ask you to try not to telephone the centre too excessively to speak to your child, as particularly during the day they will be out and about enjoying activities for most of the time. This makes it difficult to arrange contact quickly or relay messages. Centre contact details are included in your welcome pack, which can be downloaded from your MyPGL account.

What is the food like? We work with leading catering organisations to ensure our food is the best. A vegetarian option is always available and we can accommodate most special dietary requirements. Please see a sample menu on each of our centre pages online.

What happens in bad weather? Do you offer any off-site activities or excursions? The majority of our activities take place on centre, apart from a small selection of our Specialist Holidays with booked excursions or very occasionally when we take older children off site for evening ‘ents’. Where settings allow, the group will remain together with an accompanying adult but where this is not possible, children will be in small groups of no less than three and our staff will remain in designated contact/meeting points.

What if my child has their birthday whilst at PGL? If your child is celebrating their birthday whilst on their PGL holiday they will receive a PGL birthday card on the big day! Enclosed in this card is a ‘queue jump sticker’ which can be worn on the day and gives your child the opportunity to be first in the queue within their group, for everything they do that day from activities to dining room queues. We do not provide cakes, however if you wish to purchase and bring one along for them to have on the day then this can be arranged with the centre.

Outdoor activities will run as long as it is considered safe to do so and would only be curtailed due to severe weather such as lightening, high winds or snow. Where possible alternatives will be organised subject to availability. If poor weather such as rain is forecast during your child’s stay, we recommend that you pack additional clothing and footwear so wet items can be changed between activities.

What time will my child be going to bed? Even the most active children feel tired after a full day of activities followed by our evening entertainment programmes, so we insist on sensible bedtimes for children to ensure that everyone gets a good night’s rest. Exact times may vary from centre to centre but are typically 20.30 for our 7-10 and 8-10 age groups, 21.30 for 10-13s and 22.30 for 13-17s.

What happens after ‘lights out’? It is part of our staff’s role to get everyone to bed on time – sometimes easier said than done! Once ‘lights out’ has been called at centres night duty staff take over. They reassure the anxious, encourage the high spirited to settle down and continue their vigil until all is quiet. Night duty staff patrol the campsite or accommodation area throughout the night and they can quickly be contacted at any time should the need arise. Bedroom doors are locked, although these can be opened from the inside in case of emergency.

What if my child is homesick? Of course, for some children, being away from home may initially be disconcerting. This is natural and only to be expected – even adults can experience ‘homesickness’! Our staff are fully trained in the sensitive skills of identifying and dealing with children’s concerns and worries. In the vast majority of cases, a day or two of getting to know new friends and being involved in exciting activities will dispel all but the most persistent worries. You will, of course, be kept informed if there are any persistent problems.

Do many children travel alone? Many PGL guests holiday alone but choose to buddy-up first with our great E-Pal service. Yet whether coming with friends or by themselves, they always leave with plenty of new ones! To find out more about the E-Pal please contact our Holiday Consultants.

Can I drop my child off early or collect them later? In most circumstances we are able to accommodate early drop offs and late collections at centres. We will need to be notified at least 3 days in advance however and a charge of £10 per hour/per child will apply. Please note there is not any flexibility for drop off or collection times when using escorted travel.

Will there be other guests on centre? Please note that there may be other family or school groups on holiday at the centre at the same time as your children. These guests are supervised by PGL staff and will have completely separate activity programmes, accommodation and, where possible social facilities.

STAYING SAFE & HAPPY Conduct & behaviour at PGL Mobile Phones

Prohibited items

Prior to your child/children arriving at PGL for their chosen holiday/s, you can help us, by letting us know if there’s any additional information about your child that we might need, to ensure we make their holiday as successful and safe as possible. As part of our booking process we will ask you to submit information on any specific behavioural, medical, dietary or social requirements your child may have, so that we can try and understand them as best as possible before their arrival on centre. We also ask that you have read and understood our main policies and feel that your child is able to adhere to them. Please see below for an outline of key points that may be relevant to your booking.

We recognise that most parents value their children having a mobile phone with them on their holiday. We are happy for children to have a phone but they will only be able to use them in situations where practical and safe to do so in line with our mobile phone policy, which can be viewed online. For example use will not be allowed during activity sessions and after lights out. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to such devices and we advise that you have adequate mobile phone insurance cover in place. Misuse of mobile devices, viewing or sharing inappropriate material, abuse of social media and any conduct that could be deemed as bullying or any other inappropriate use of a mobile device (including theft or damage to others property) could result in your child being sent home from their holiday.

The below items are banned at all of our centres. It is essential to check that your child does not have any of the following items with them during their stay at PGL.

Discipline and responsibility

Alcohol and Smoking

We work hard to make sure that the balance we strike between enjoying freedom and fun on our holidays, whilst staying safe and happy, is the right one.

Living alongside and mixing with other children is a valuable part of the holiday experience and we try to ensure that no one feels left out. Every member of the group has an equal right to enjoy themselves and we keep a close check on teasing, bullying or any other antisocial behaviour that may spoil an individual’s enjoyment. Our experience over many years means that this rarely becomes a problem but please tell your children that if they feel they are not happy for any reason, they should inform their group leader or any other member of staff immediately. When necessary, we will be firm with children who are jeopardising the enjoyment of others and will not tolerate any such behaviour. If problem behaviour is persistent or serious, we will contact the parent or guardian to decide on further action. Please note it may on occasion be necessary to contact parents/guardians during unsociable hours and that PGL reserve the right to curtail any holiday if we feel necessary. Because of this we ask that a parent/guardian is contactable and available to collect 24hrs a day in case the need arises for them to attend centre.

56

Parent Guide

Consumption of alcohol by guests is banned at all PGL centres in the UK and France. In France, please note that even those guests who are 16 and over, who legally speaking may consume beer and wine in Europe, are subject to this ban. This also applies to the consumption and purchase of alcohol offsite. Please note that guests who break this rule will be excluded from the holiday and collection will be at the expense of parents/guardians. We strongly discourage smoking but full smoking bans in the past have led to unauthorised smoking in areas likely to be a fire risk – tents dormitories etc. As safety is our number one priority we operate a system using ‘official’ supervised smoking areas set away from other guests or any fire risk. Smoking is only allowed strictly for 16 or 17 year olds where parental consent has been given. Interestingly, a side effect of this approach tends to be that a number of smokers choose not to smoke at all rather than be forced to adopt the rigours of our strict safety policy. Smoking in contravention of our policy is a serious offence for which guests will be sent home. Please note that the above rules covering smoking also extend to E-cigarettes and vaping.

- Alcohol -D rugs or medicines of any kind, whether prescription or common over the counter (for example paracetamol, hay fever tablets, travel sickness tablets etc.) that you have not handed in upon arrival at the centre and declared to our staff on a medical form in your MyPGL account. -H azardous substances (e.g: glue, gas cannisters, legal highs). -A ny item that could constitute a weapon - for example, a pen knife or scissors. - T he means of lighting a fire (eg: matches, lights, lighter fluid). - I nappropriate material (e.g: adult explicit content).

Self reliance Our holidays require a level of self-reliance and all children are expected to be able to take responsibility and independently manage their own personal care, such as showering, washing, changing clothes and cleaning their teeth. We use specific small group staff ratios and specialist equipment, to ensure all our care standards are upheld and to be as inclusive as possible, in the settings we operate in. Our average ratio of staff is 1:12 and therefore if you feel your child needs additional levels of support for any personal issues or has any issues requiring 1:1 care, you must discuss this with our Customer Service Team. It’s important to note that we are not able to accommodate children in all circumstances. This would typically be where a child’s needs require a staffing level beyond those we work to, or the use of equipment, qualifications or facilities that our settings are not reasonably able to provide.

For full details of our policies, expectations and behavioural management system please visit www.pgl.co.uk/safeandhappy or contact a member of our team.

BE INSURED Key information

It is important that everyone travelling with PGL has holiday insurance. Experience has shown that standard policies do not cover all our activities, e.g. motorsports, abseiling and rifle shooting or children travelling independently of the policy holder. For your protection, therefore, we have arranged a special policy with Union Reiseversicherung AG. PGL insurance includes the following benefits as long as claims fall within the terms and conditions of the policy: • Cover for all activities organised by PGL • Personal accident up to £25,000. Some benefits are reduced for under 16s • Medical and other expenses up to £5 million for overseas holidays and up to £10,000 (other expenses only) for the UK • Cancellation charges up to the cost of the holiday (maximum £5,000) • Luggage up to £1,500. Single item £250. Valuables limit £250 • Personal money up to £200 • Personal liability up to £2 million • Curtailment of activities at £20 per day up to a maximum of £240 • Delay compensation, up to the invoice total for abandonment of overseas holidays. Compensation after 12 hours delay is £20 Full details of our insurance cover can be found on our website or can be sent to you upon request. Please note that cancellation cover comes into force when you pay the appropriate premiums. One premium will cover two or more consecutive holiday weeks per child. Non consecutive weeks require separate premiums. Most of the above sections are subject to £35 excess (up to £250 excess for legal expenses). Please read the Key Insurance Facts to follow. KEY FACTS: We would like to explain some of the definitions and features of our insurance cover for you. Cooling off period: Your policy contains a 14 day cooling off period, during which you can cancel the policy and get a refund, if you have a justifiable reason for being dissatisfied with the cover it provides. Pre-existing health conditions: If any participant, or any other person on whom the travel plans depend, has ever had treatment for any heart condition or circulatory condition, a stroke or high blood pressure, any breathing condition (including asthma), any type of cancer, any type of diabetes, any psychological condition, any existing injury or other serious or recurring medical condition, any condition requiring long term, prescribed medication or if you or they are receiving or awaiting investigation for any medical condition, you must advise the insurers via PGL to see if additional cover is available. Insurers reserve the right to impose terms. You will receive confirmation in writing of their decision. Conditions, Exclusions & Terms: Conditions and exclusions will apply to individual sections of your policy while general exclusions, conditions and warranties will apply to the whole policy. Property Claims: These claims are paid based on the value of the goods at the time you lose them and not on a “new for old” or replacement cost basis. Policy Limits: Most sections of the policy have limits on the amount the insurer will pay under that section. Some sections also include other specific limits, for example for any one item or for valuables in total. You are advised to check your policy if you intend taking expensive items with you, which we advise against. Policy Excesses: Under most sections of the policy, claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of the claim. The amount you have to pay is called the excess. Reasonable Care: You need to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property as if you were uninsured, otherwise your claim may be refused. Complaints: The insurance policy includes a Complaints Procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint. Dangerous Sports or Pastimes: If you are going to take part in dangerous sports or pastimes where there is a risk of injury, check that your policy covers you. All activities officially organised and implemented by PGL are covered. Policy Document: This gives full details of what is not covered and conditions of the cover. A copy will be sent to you on booking, or earlier on request. Law: The Insurance Policy will be subject to the law of England and Wales unless otherwise agreed. Please ensure you read your insurance policy carefully. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the policy may result in cover being restricted. PGL are an Appointed Representative of Fogg Travel Insurance Service Limited who with the Insurers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

THE SMALL PRINT Important please read Please take time to read the following terms and conditions carefully. They are the basis of the contract between yourself and PGL. A contract will exist between us when we have taken your booking and required payment. You will then automatically receive a confirmation/invoice detailing exactly what has been booked. If you think anything is incorrect please contact us straight away. All correspondence will be with the person named on the confirmation invoice who accepts the following conditions on behalf of all participants. The contract between us is governed by English Law and any dispute will be dealt with under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Any monies paid to an appointed agent will be held by the agent for PGL until they are paid over to PGL. Your final payment and travel tickets The balance of your account is payable no later than 12 weeks before holiday commencement. If payment is not made by the due date, we reserve the right to advise you of the cancellation of your holiday booking and make a cancellation charge at the appropriate rate. Full payment must accompany bookings made within 12 weeks of departure. Please note that holidays booked using a special offer require full payment at the time of booking. The Package Travel, Package Holidays, and Package Tours Regulations 1992 require us to provide security for the monies that you pay for the holiday booked from this brochure and for repatriation in the event of our insolvency. We provide this security by way of a bond held by ABTA. Changing your booking or travel If, after you have confirmed your booking, you wish to make any alterations, an administration charge of £25 will be made per amendment. Any such amendment may be telephoned to PGL in the first instance but must be confirmed in writing immediately thereafter by emailing holidays@pgl.co.uk. However, if a major amendment is requested less than 8 weeks prior to the starting date of the holiday, we reserve the right to treat your request as a cancellation and charge the appropriate cancellation fee as detailed below. In order that all our staff have the correct information we cannot accept additions or alterations to travel arrangements within 7 days of the commencement of the holiday.

If we are forced to make changes, PGL will do its utmost to provide all of the arrangements that have been confirmed, but must reserve the right to alter or cancel any activities, accommodation or other arrangements, including escorted travel, if operational, weather or other considerations so dictate. If we have to make a major change to your holiday, we will offer a suitable alternative if available, or 100% refund, if we are not able, in our opinion, to offer an alternative that is sufficiently comparable. Compensation will be paid as below if we have to make a major change to your holiday within 8 weeks of holiday commencement, unless the change is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to war, riot, civil commotion, act of God, industrial dispute, Government action, epidemic, disease, adverse weather or natural disaster. • 56-29 days – 10% of holiday price • 28-15 days – 15% of holiday price • 14 days or less – 25% of holiday price The price of your holiday is subject to surcharge due to unforeseen increases in fuel costs, Government action such as increases in VAT or any other Government imposed increases or adverse currency exchange rate variations. Even in this case, we will absorb an amount equivalent to 2% of the holiday price which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. Only amounts in excess of this 2% will be surcharged but, where a surcharge is payable, there will be an administration charge of £1 together with an amount to cover agents’ commission where relevant. If this means paying more than 10% of the holiday price, you will be entitled to cancel your holiday with a full refund of all money paid except for any premium paid to us for holiday insurance and amendment charges. Should you decide to cancel because of this, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on the surcharge advice.

The prices of our holidays abroad have been fixed according to an exchange rate of 1.1679 euros to £1 as published in the Financial Times on 15th November 2019. You will be notified 8 weeks before departure if a surcharge is due on your holiday. Cancelling your holiday or travel If you find that you cannot take your PGL holiday and have to cancel, for whatever reason, your deposit will be forfeited to cover our costs. If we receive your written cancellation within 56 days of your holiday commencement date, higher cancellation charges will be made, as follows: • 56 to 29 days prior to commencement – 30% of the total holiday price. • 28 to 15 days prior to commencement – 45% of the total holiday price. • Within 14 days, on or after the commencement date – 100% of the total holiday price. The date of effective cancellation is calculated on the day of receipt of written advice in our Reservations Department. Travel costs are forfeited unless written cancellation is received more than 14 days prior to holiday commencement. Your PGL holiday insurance may cover the cost of cancellation. If in doubt don’t hesitate to contact our brokers, Fogg Travel Insurance Services, on 01623 631 331. Any compliments, complaints or feedback If there is any problem with the holiday, we want to put this right for you as soon as possible. Please ask your child to mention it to their Group Leader/Courier/Centre Manager straightaway. Alternatively, we will be pleased to make a phone available, so your child can speak with you if this is preferable. We would ask you to make immediate contact with either the centre or Head Office in Ross-

on-Wye. If we have been unable to find a solution, you have 28 days from the end of your holiday to write to us to explain your grievance. Please email feedback@pgl.co.uk. If you are still unhappy, your complaint may be referred to arbitration under a special scheme arranged by the Association of British Travel Agents in conjunction with the Institute of Arbitrators. This scheme provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone, with restricted liability on a customer in respect of costs. The scheme does not apply to claims for an amount greater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking. Neither does it apply to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness or the consequences of such injury or illness. The scheme can however deal with compensation claims involving minor injury or illness, subject to a limit of £1,000 per person. Application for arbitration must be made within 9 months of return from holiday. Further details can be supplied by ABTA on request. Their address is: 30 Park Street, London SE1 9EQ. Except as set out below, no liability is accepted for personal illness, injury or death. We do accept responsibility for any personal illness, injury or death which results from the negligent (as the word is understood in the English Law) acts or omissions of any servant or agent, or any supplier, working on our behalf in the provision of services or facilities to you and whilst acting within the scope of their employment. Please note, however, that we do not accept liability for any air or sea carriers whose individual conditions of carriage apply and are often subject to international agreements. We cannot be held responsible for the failure or inability of any equipment or computer programme to recognise or correctly interpret or process any date as the true or correct date, or to continue to function correctly beyond that date. We can only be liable for the provision of special requests where we have confirmed their availability in writing. You must request such assistance within 90 days from the date of the misadventure and in the event of there being a successful claim for costs against a third party or there being suitable insurance policies in force, the costs incurred by PGL shall be recoverable from yourselves. We shall not be liable in respect of any loss of profits, damage to goodwill or any type of special, indirect or consequential loss even if such loss was reasonably foreseeable or we have been advised of the possibility of you incurring the same.
