Detecting water leaks before they start to cause damage
With water damage proving to be one of the most frequently reported insurance claims, Rehau has unveiled a smart water control system using ultrasound technology.
The smart control water system monitors the water fl ow rate, assessing it in real time with integrated software. It is made up of four main components: a smart water controller, water sensors, a hub gateway, and app.
The system is suited to anyone concerned about potential water damage in a property – either through their own daily use, or as the landlord of another property or holiday home. It is also said to be benefi cial to eco-conscious consumers wanting to monitor water usage.
The RE.GUARD smart water controller helps to detect burst pipes and drip leaks by shutting off the water supply to mitigate damage. It is installed after the water meter which allows it to also measure water consumption, and has the ability to be manually turned on and off .
The controller is supported by water sensors which quickly detect leaking water in critical areas by being positioned throughout the house. The sensors connect to the RE.GUARD smart water controller via the Z-Wave radio standard, although there is also an extension cable for hard-to-reach places.
All devices are connected to the internet via the .HU gateway which can easily be connected to a home’s router. Essential information is then available to the homeowner at a glance, which also helps to identify sustainable ways to save on water. phamnews.co.uk/
AC for complete climate control Key features of the Climate 3000i include: ‘Wind Avoid Me’ mode that ad usts the air fl ow direction, avoiding a direct breeze to the user; ‘Follow Me’ mode that activates sensor from the remote, regulating the room temperature based on where the homeowner is sitting; ‘ECO mode’, which saves on energy by reducing power consumption to 20% for eight hours and an ‘i-Clean’ feature that, when activated, kills % of bacteria on the evaporator and prevents any spread around the home. Ionisation probes replace UV sensors
iello has upgraded its kerosene burners with fl ame-detection ionisation probes. The probes are available on the company’s low NOx (low nitrogen oxides) blue fl ame kerosene burner range in the UK and Ireland, replacing the ultra-violet (UV) fl ame sensors currently used, to provide a simpler, longerlasting safety solution.
The company explains that ionisation probes are a simpler means of fl ame supervision, compared to other methods, with a defi ned life e pectancy of approximately 20,000 hours – double the expected life of a U fl ame sensor. ocated within the fl ame itself, ionisation probes detect the charged ions that result from the combustion of a hydrocarbon, allowing a small electrical current to be conducted across the fl ame when applied. f no such current is detected, the burner is forced into a safety shutdown. A proven means of fl ame detection, ionisation probes are already commonly installed in combustion equipment and will soon be available for the low kerosene burner range. This product development is in line with Riello’s focus on simplicity and familiarisation of components for engineers, many of whom have worked with ionisation probes on other equipment for years. phamnews.co.uk/
