Our Ethical Journey so far...

BRUNEI FRANCHISE - 2013 We make the launch into the 1st of the PHB Franchises. Starting with a store opening in Brunei in Feb 2013 and a 2nd in Brunei in Nov 2013. Both are extremely popular and beautiful places to shop.

PHB OPENS ITS DOORS - 2010 Opening in 2010 PHB imported and sold beauty products from around the world. The shop had a successful run until 2016 when we closed the doors to focus on our own range and the bigger picture. PHB LAUNCHES OWN RANGE - 2012 Running our own store made us quickly realise that many beauty products are made using cheap, toxic and animal derived ingredients. This was not what we wanted to sell! So we made a BIG decision...to make our own products that ticked all the boxes we cared about. After 2 years of research, testing and perfecting our product formulas, the PHB Ethical Beauty Range was born.

DUTCH FRANCHISE - 2013 A PHB store in the Netherlands also opens in 2013, seeing the beginning of many more PHB franchises around the world. We now also have distribution partners across Europe and are sold in over 40 different countries!

GLOBAL SHEA ALLIANCE MEMBER - 2014 The Global Shea Alliance is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to promote economically viable and socially responsible shea nuts and shea product businesses, particularly ensuring that the people who gather the nuts to produce the butter (usually women) get a fair deal. It is very important to us to make sure all involved in the production of our products are treated fairly and that ingredients are sourced responsibly.

MICRO-BEAD FREE AWARD by FAUNA & FLORA - 2015 We have only ever used natural exfoliating beads in our products and have always campaigned against the use of plastic microbeads found in most exfoliators. These micro-beads cause damage to sea life, the oceans & the environment. We were honoured to receive an award from the world’s longest established conservation charity, Fauna & Flora International, who featured us in their Good Scrub Guide. Thankfully the use of plastic micro-beads was banned in the UK in 2018.

PHB have supported Orbis and the incredible sightsaving work they do since 2015. This year marks 20 years that Orbis have been treating & curing preventable blindness in Ethiopia. To celebrate, PHB Co-Founders Rose & John, along with close friends & colleagues Metz and Sara, raised £14,000 for the charity and joined the Orbis team by taking part in The Great Ethiopian 10k run. Followed by a visit to Orbis’ projects and hospitals in Southern Ethiopia.

FINLAND STORE OPENS - 2018 PHB love to partner with passionate entrepreneurs who share our values. The latest addition to the PHB franchise family can be found in the beautiful country of Finland. NEW ERA OF ETHICAL BEAUTY - 2018 Throughout 2017 & 2018 PHB’s Founders & dedicated in-house team have poured our hearts & energy into evolving and elevating the PHB range. PHB GETS A NEW HQ - 2017 After six successful years, we began to out-grow our Birmingham city centre store. We watched demand for our natural beauty products soar. Realising the potential of the online market, we transferred our shop from local to global. To cater for the increase in demand we opened a brand-new Warehouse, nestled in the rolling hills just outside of Birmingham. Here we have all the space we need to produce and distribute more products than ever before. Against Animal Testing We do not test on animals and our company is strongly against animal testing. All PHB products are certified Cruelty Free. Our products are registered with BUAV Cruelty Free (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection) and PETA’s Beauty without Bunnies campaign. We have never and will never test on animals.

Certified Halal All products in the PHB Collection are Certified Halal by the Universal Halal Agency UK. Halal Certification guarantees PHB products are free from harsh Alcohols (like ethanol and denatured alcohol) and Free From Genetically Modified Ingredients. Ethical & Eco-Friendly PHB products are made with respect for the earth. We use eco-friendly packaging that is fully recyclable. We source ingredients that are ethically harvested and where possible we support fair trade co-operatives and regeneration projects which provide assistance and stability to farmers & their local communities. Organic Certified Ingredients At PHB we use a variety of Organic & Organic Certified ingredients across our range. All Organic ingredients are clearly marked in our ingredients listings and on product labels in accordance with The Soil Association and COSMOS standards.

Palm Oil Policy The Palm Oil industry is linked to major issues such as deforestation, habitat degradation, climate change, animal cruelty and indigenous rights abuses in the countries where it is produced. In 2015 we took the decision to reformulate and remove Palm Oil from the entire PHB product range. We stopped using Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Elaies Guineensis (Palm) Kernel Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Oil and Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil.

Palm Oil Derivatives: We have also worked extremely hard to ensure that where possible, any ingredients that could be derived from Palm oil (e.g. Glycerine, Cetyl Alcohol) are actually derived from Coconut or Organic Soy instead. Stearic Acid is the only ingredient we currently use that is Palm Oil derived. This derivative is RSPO certified from sustainable sources. The only alternative source comes from Beef Tallow, which is of course unacceptable to our Plant Based Philosophy. Currently, we are working to reduce the use of this derivative in our formulas.

Fauna & Flora International We’ve never used plastic micro-beads in any of our exfoliators or scrubs, because these tiny pieces of plastic wash down our drains and into our oceans where they wreak havoc for marine life. Since 2012 we have campaigned to help raise awareness alongside Fauna & Flora International & The Good Scrub Guide who lobbied the UK government to #BanTheBead. In 2018 Plastic Micro-beads were officially banned in the UK, an incredible achievement! But many countries are still to follow suit. We’re now continuing the campaign around the world with our international partners. Q What can you suggest to give my skin a much needed winter boost? A Winter can wreak havoc on our skin, with it becoming much drier due to the extreme weather changes and central heating. And then we got in touch with YOU - our beautiful supporters & customers - and we listened to what you had to say about improving the product range, because ultimately you are the ones who’ve always inspired us and helped us fine-tune our amazing products. Throughout 2017 & 2018 PHB’s Founders & dedicated in-house team have poured our hearts & energy into evolving and elevating the PHB range.

We’re honoured to present our new product collections to you! We’ve developed 3 new targeted skin care ranges focused around 16 highperformance skin care products. These are backed up with our new smaller, more considered body care selection of 6 specifically-targeted essential products. This includes some awesome new 2-in-1 formulas that reduce product, packaging and water waste. We saw an opportunity to take our brand, our formulas and our packaging to the next level & you told us that you’re excited for us to keep innovating. Our Charity..

In 2015, after 3 year of explosive success with our pioneering ethical & vegan beauty range, our family business felt motivated to find further ways to inspire & make a positive difference in this world. We decided to launch our own charity, called The OneLove Foundation, and to donate 20% of PHB’s profits each year to charities & causes that inspire us!

We donate 20% of profits each year because we feel blessed to be in a position where we can share what we have, help others and care for the Earth. We believe that People, Animals and The Earth are all interrelated and dependant on each other. We also know there are many caring people in this world who share our philosophy, and who love to know their money is used to truly make a difference!

Our charity was created based on 4 core principles close to our hearts;

Some of the inspiring causes we support...

Orbis help to treat preventable blindness and provide accessible eye care in some of the worlds poorest countries. Co-founders Rose & John, along with close friends and colleagues Sara & Metz, recently raised £14,000 for Orbis and joined them in Ethiopia, where they visited the charities projects and participated in the Great Ethiopian Run.

Close to home for us as a family and a crucial Birmingham-based nationwide charity, Sense is for everyone living with complex disabilities and for everyone who is deaf-blind. Sense is here to help people communicate, and experience the world. They believe that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential.

Another cause deeply ingrained in our hearts. Carol (pictured top centre), and her team at the Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary, provide a safe and peaceful environment where rescued animals can remain for the rest of their lives. Veterinary care and medication is provided as required and all animals in their charge are constantly monitored to ensure their good health and well being.
