WE ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST! Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets standards for quality and safety in health care and accredits health care organizations in Canada and around the world. As part of the Qmentum accreditation program, we underwent a rigorous evaluation process. This process included a comprehensive self-assessment, employee surveys, and three external peer evaluators came on-site to assess our leadership, governance, clinical programs and services against Accreditation Canada standards of excellence for quality and safety. I am proud to say we attained the highest level of performance - Full Accreditation with Exemplary Standings. We were evaluated on eight dimensions that included 275 standards and we met 99% (273). The eight dimensions measured included: Quality Dimension Met Unmet N/A Total  Population Focus (Working with communities to anticipate and meet needs)  Accessibility (Providing timely and equitable services)  Safety (Keeping people safe)  Work-life (Supporting wellness in the work environment)  Client-centred Services (Putting clients and families first)  Continuity of Services (Experiencing coordinated and seamless services)  Effectiveness (Doing the right thing to achieve the best possible results)  Efficiency (Making the best use of resources) In addition to the evaluation of these standards our employee survey results were compared to other Canadian health care organizations that completed the surveys from January 2012 to June 2012. PHCS has been accredited for 12 years, but this is the first time we have received such an exceptional rating. We all share in this success! It is a reflection of our highly skilled and dedicated staff who strive to provide the best care possible. It is a reflection of our teamwork and willingness to see where we may be falling short and continually try to improve. I am proud to work for PHCS and it is a pleasure to work with all of you. Preferred Health Care Services has been awarded Accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada. This is the highest level award possible and reflects excellence in achievement of the standards of the accreditation program. We consistently displayed a collaborative professional approach with our clients, during our work in committees, with our employees and how we implemented our policies, procedures and processes. We decided to approach our accreditation and show our surveyors how we manage our day to day activities in a true light….we wanted our evaluation to be authentic. The Exemplary Standing awarded validates and truly speaks to who we are as individuals, how we work as a team and is reflected in our clients’ and partners’ feedback. We will be sharing the specific commendations and opportunities for continuous improvement in staff sessions.
