VISION We are an innovative and inclusive school, committed to providing the best possible opportunities for our students and ensuring that every student is as successful as they possibly can be. Everything in our school is underpinned by our core values of Aspiration, Success and Kindness. We have the highest expectations of our students and expect them to aim for excellence at all times, to maintain the highest standards of themselves and to immerse themselves fully in the life of the school. We strive to provide our students with the best experiences possible, appropriate to their needs and aspirations. Partnerships are important to us and we believe our relationships with others, particularly parents and carers, are critical in meeting the needs of our students. Whether you are a prospective student or parent, a member of the profession wanting to join our exciting journey or a school/college looking to work in partnership with us, our doors will always be open to you.

…insistence that the academy’s work should be underpinned by the core values of ‘aspiration, success and kindness’ has helped to embed ambition, improve standards of behaviour and increase the impact of teaching on students’ progress.

We offer an inspiring and varied curriculum to engage students and prepare them for their next steps in education, training and employment. The academy’s ethos and broad and balanced curriculum helps students develop values that enable them to appreciate the diverse nature of life in modern Britain. Ofsted 2015

ENRICHMENT We encourage students to participate in our wide range of extracurricular activities. These range from sporting activities, drama and music productions to the Duke of Edinburgh Award and World Challenge expeditions to far flung parts of the globe. Students in all year groups are entitled to these experiences, visits and opportunities that support their learning in a variety of ways throughout their time with us. We pride ourselves on the celebration of student success and their achievements both in school and out. Public celebration is the key to our philosophy and our regular achievement assemblies reinforce the message that success is both desirable and attainable, alongside our innovative rewards system.

SUPPORT From the moment of transition from year six, our students are supported by an exceptional pastoral support team. Our five House Managers work closely with tutors, teachers, parents and carers in order to remove all barriers to learning and ensure our students believe in themselves and have limitless aspirations. We are a fully inclusive school and tailor our curriculum and support to ensure that every child’s self-esteem and self-worth develops. Where a student is identified as having a specific special need, our Learning Support Team develops support plans to ensure their requirements are met and they are able to access every opportunity the school can offer. Our highly-regarded resource base for Hearing Impaired students caters for 18 students. Qualified and experienced staff within the resource base and across the school are committed to ensuring that the provision for these students is seamless.

PARTNERSHIPS Students become successful learners when the whole community comes together to help them. The most important of these partnerships lies between parents, school and the student. When a student joins our school we enter into a three part agreement. Our Home School Agreement puts responsibilities on each of us to work for our students’ success. We believe that sustainable school improvement can only be achieved through working closely with other organisations. We value our strong partnership with the Colne Community School and the Coast2Coast Teaching School Alliance. For anyone interested in being a partner with this school, as a parent, member of staff or in another way, please do not hesitate to contact us.
