Langrish House loves to host weddings. The house

and garden are ideal for embracing the dreams of every couple. Nigel and Robina Talbot-Ponsonby, who are the owners and live here, want you to make their home yours for the day. Langrish only hosts one Wedding a day: this ensures that Robina and her team can give your dream a very personal and individual service. They have lots of experience, and will enjoy helping you to plan an occasion that is uniquely yours. At all times of the year, Langrish brings an extra bit of magic to a wedding. In Summer, guests can wander, glass in hand, through the spectacular grounds, while in Winter the House may be lit by cosy, romantic candlelight. Spring sees the garden radiate with snowdrops or daffodils and even the reds and golds of Autumn provide a perfect, natural backdrop for photographs.

History Langrish has been home to seven generations of the Talbot-Ponsonby family and has plenty of history. The oldest part of the house, the Vaults, were dug by Royalist prisoners captured by Oliver Cromwell at the Battle of Cheriton in 1644. In its heyday, Charles and Constance Talbot-Ponsonby brought up seven children here. Family archives paint a picture of endless hospitality and a jolly, bustling life. It was the centre of a village community and abounded with horses, dogs, cats and chickens. There were musical recitals, plays, croquet on the lawn, wartime partings and joyful homecomings, journeys abroad, huge house parties and great celebrations. Langrish House has awards for Fine Dining and is a former winner of Les Routiers National ‘Hotel of the Year’ Award. The judges stated that Langrish House ‘is everything a Country House Hotel should be, it is like visiting old friends – beautiful grounds, a family home steeped in history, family run and with passion oozing from the kitchen’. The Wedding Ceremony It is not essential to hold the Marriage Ceremony here, but should you wish to, we have a licence as an Approved Premises for Civil Marriages. The Licence covers 4 Rooms: Talbot Room Maximum number of people 80 (some standing) Garden Room Maximum number of people 35 (20 seated) The Vaults Maximum number of people 35 (20 seated) The Drawing Room Maximun number of people 10 We charge the following to hold a Civil Marriage Ceremony at Langrish House: Saturday £350 Fridays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays £250 Monday - Thursday £100 This charge does not include the Registrar. It is our experience that the best time for a Marriage Ceremony is around 3:00pm but the time can only be fixed after consultation with the Registrar, and it is always wise to discuss the timing of your day with us when you book. Your guests should arrive about 10 - 15 minutes before the Ceremony. It should be noted that it is a legal requirement that no food or drink be consumed in the Ceremony Room for an hour before the Wedding. To make a provisional booking, up to 2 years before the marriage, you should contact the Superintendent Registrar for this District on 01329 289733 or by email: fareham.registrars@hants.gov.uk. To confirm your booking you will each be required to give a Notice of Marriage at the Register Office for the district in which you live. A Notice of Marriage is valid for twelve months before the date of your marriage. If you have any further queries, or would like to come and have a look around, please do not hesitate to ring. We have lots of experience helping Brides plan their weddings. We can put you in touch with Florists, Car Hire firms, Cake Makers, Discos, Photographers, Stationers, Balloon suppliers, Falconry Displays and more. Why not come along to our annual Wedding Fair and find out more!

Available at special prices when you hold your Wedding Breakfast here. It is a condition of our licence that all guests partake of a substantial meal. Therefore all additional Evening Guests and about half of the Day Guests should be catered for.

Booking

Gratuities are not included in the price and are left to your discretion. We can confirm that all gratuities are passed on to the staff.

We are happy to cater for children. They should be supervised at all times, however, for their own benefit and safety. Parents should be aware that a road and a lake are accessible from the garden. We regret that we cannot heat baby food due to Health and Safety regulations. Babies take up a lot of space and it is important you include them in your seating plan.

Provisional bookings will be held for up to 14 days. A booking can be confirmed by a signed Booking Form with the reservation deposit of £750.00.

Candlelit Winter Weddings Romantic Winter Weddings by Candlelight are a speciality of Langrish House.

Home Langrish House has been home to the Talbot-Ponsonby family for seven generations. By choosing us you are combining all the advantages a hotel can offer with the comforts of a family home steeped in history.

Please ask your guests not to throw confetti in the house or in the grounds. We have no objection to rice, which is equally traditional. We can supply fresh or dried rose petals at £20 per small basket.

Just in Case

It is a condition of our insurance that Bands, Discos and any others who are using electrical equipment at Langrish House provide us with a valid PAT test.

Insurance can cover all kinds of eventualities. PLEASE BE SAFE, NOT SORRY. We strongly advise you to insure the day and to arrange insurance for personal belongings or presents whilst at Langrish House.

We can cater for a maximum of 90 guests sitting down or 120 guests standing in the Talbot Room. Larger numbers can be accommodated in a Marquee.

Licence The bar may be open until 12:00 midnight. No wine, beer or spirits may be brought into Langrish House by any guests for consumption on the premises, or a charge will be incurred.

Menus Various Menus are enclosed. The prices are based on all guests partaking of the same 3 Course Menu with the exception of vegetarians. Any further variation from the Set Menu, for dietary reasons, or choice, incurs a £5.00 surcharge per person. (Changes made on the day will be £7.50 per person and may affect the timing.) Saturday weddings during the Summer months and December will attract a minimum charge.

We are a NON SMOKING establishment. A charge of up to £100 will be levied for anyone who disregards this rule in order to eliminate the odour. Smoking is permitted outside.

The Room Hire varies according to the day of the week and the time of the year. It includes overnight use of our Hideaway Honeymoon Suite. The figure will be reduced if the evening ends at 11.00pm. The Room Hire charge will be further reduced if the party has left the Hotel by 6.00pm, and will not then include the Hideaway Suite.

All prices include VAT at the current rate.

Saturdays

For Saturday Wedding Receptions from June to September inclusive and during December we normally ask for a minimum of 40 guests, alternatively we reserve the right to levy a surcharge of £25.00 per person. For bookings made closer to the date, we may be happy to waiver this - so do please enquire.

We have lots of experience in planning Weddings here at Langrish House and we will take great pleasure in helping you to plan your Big Day.

Overnight Stay Our rooms are booked very quickly! We strongly recommend you ‘block book’ all bedrooms for which we require a £300.00 deposit. Rooms will be available from 3.30pm. Early check-in by 1.30pm can only be by prior arrangement, confirmed in writing. Check-in between 12 noon and 1.30pm will incur a charge of £10.00 per room to cover the expense of extra housekeeping.

Photographs We have lovely gardens and grounds. You and your guests are welcome to wander and you will find some wonderful backdrops for your photographs. Video Cameras are welcome.

Queries If you have any queries we will be happy to help.

Transport There is plenty of space on the gravel drive and grass paddock for your guests’ cars. If your guests wish to go home by taxi we strongly recommend that they book in advance as they tend to be very booked up. Please ask us if you would like a list of local Taxi services.

Unusual If you want to do something different, tell us what you have in mind and we will be happy to try and help.

Weather One thing we cannot control - we wish we could! If the sun doesn’t shine on the day for your photographs, we would be delighted for you to return at a later date to take more!

Your Wedding Cake We are delighted to distribute slices of your Wedding Cake but are unable to serve your cake in lieu of a Sweet Course.

Zzzz Getting married is very exhausting. Enjoy the luxury of our Hideaway Honeymoon Suite, indulge in breakfast in bed perhaps, and listen to the bird song in the morning.
