Packaging Is Changing, And Plastic Is Shown The Door Custom packaging companies in the UK and most of the world are going through massive changes. Plastic has been the most common type of packaging, wrapping over paper or cardboard and is preferred over other means of packaging materials lasting many years.

However brands have increasingly been under pressure from their customers to “clean up their act” and make environmental issues at the core of their brand values and actions. As such retail packaging companies UK based are loosing traction in the marketplace. at least those unable to adapt and act fast to offer new creative custom packaging solutions to their clients. The thing is, there is a huge misconception about pollution caused by plastic. Most of the issues to the environment related to plastic goods are single use plastic, such as carrier bags, water and soft drink bottles. These are often discarded and not recycled. Of course you can make the same argument for packaging: You purchase a product, open the packaging (often with scissors), take the product out of the packaging and immediately discard the beautiful custom retail packaging in the bin. We’ve all done that, right? Some of us may be more careful now, and ensure the packaging goes into the recycling bin, however it is still a bit of a waste: you need electricity, petrol, machines, staff to produce plastic for the sole purpose of looking good and making consumers “want the product more”, help their purchase decision making process. And then, it goes to the bin. Custom packaging UK companies now offer more and more cardboard based retail packaging solution and less and less plastic. Sure, cardboard is not as durable, and does suffer damage more easily during transport, compare to a product with an outer layer of plastic. However, cardboard / paper are more easily recyclable and much more acceptable to the western economy market. Simple example: The demand for paper straws is growing, while the plastic straws and being phased out, all due to consumer pressures. I know that as straw is not “packaging” as such, but the logic and trend applies just the same to custom packaging companies UK. So, what is your own behavior towards packaging? Does it matter to you? Does it make you want the product more? And are you consciously choosing products where the packaging is minimal and contains no plastic? This discussion is growing and attitudes changing fast. Original Source: packaging design agency
