Casey Calls For Refinery Hearings by Rory McGlasson US Sen. Bob Casey (D-Phila.) has called for a Congressional hearing on the sale of the nation’s Oil Refineries. At a meeting in the small Philadelphia suburban town of Linfield, Casey joined Congressman Pat Meehan, and union officials from the region, who are
outraged over the recent closure of the Trainer oil plant. Casey announced he had sent a letter to Sen. Jeff Bingaman (DN.M.), chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee calling for a hearing. “We have a lot of questions for the companies that they are not answering,” said Casey.
At the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers union hall in Linwood, Casey said the owners, Sun need to be more transparent with union officials and community stakeholders. Sunoco Oil officials, who sold the plant, reject the Senator’s claim of non-communication.
