Casey Hails Ex-Im Bank For Making Jobs In State US Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) is pushing for passage of a bipartisan measure to renew the Export-Import Bank of the United States, which supports Pennsylvania companies and jobs by boosting exports. The bank, which helps US companies facilitate trade, will see its charter lapse unless Congress acts before it expires in May. Reauthorization is currently being debated in Congress. “The Export-Import Bank provides critical financing to help Pennsylvania businesses sell their products and provide good paying jobs,” said the Senator. “The bank has long received bipartisan support and it should be extended without delay. Playing politics with this effort could cost Pennsylvania jobs and hurt the economic recovery.” 3|
Since 2007, the Export-Import Bank has lent over $1.7 billion to over 200 Pennsylvania companies, helping them create and retain jobs and compete in the global economy. This financing has supported over $3 billion in export sales for Pennsylvania businesses in the past five years. The bank is a self-sustaining, independent federal agency that operates at no cost to taxpayers. Export-Import Bank financing is critical to help level the playing field for Pennsylvania exporters who compete against foreign companies who receive more export financing from their own governments. In 2011, the Export-Import Bank supported approximately 290,000 American jobs, Casey said. More than 200 Pennsylva-

nia companies have benefited from it recently, including six in Philadelphia. They are Wachovia Bank ($8,844,000), Renaissance Management Group ($1,397,000), Bassetts Ice Cream (($958,000), Kingsbury, Inc. ($164,000), Stretch Devices ($35,000) and Branch Medical Group ($28,000).
GOP Slams Casey, Says ARA ‘Killing Jobs’ “When liberal US Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) cast the 60th and deciding vote for President Barack Obama’s health-care law, it didn’t just cut $550 billion from Medicare but also included a slew of job-killing taxes that are crushing small businesses across the Keystone State,” charged the National Republican

The Republican campaign organization cited reports Pittsburgh based-Alcoa took a $5.3 million charge because of “ObamaCare” while US Steel recorded a $27 million charge and Alcoa took an $80 million charge. It also noted Douglas Elmendorf, director of the Congressional Budget Office, testified in February the health-care law will kill 800,000 jobs nationwide.
Conservative PAC Backs Tom Smith In Primary The Tom Smith for Senate Campaign announced the endorsement of the conservative Citizens United Political Victory Fund, the affiliated PAC of Citizens United. “Tom Smith has a truly American story, from starting out on his family’s farm, to owning a small business that eventually employed more than 100 people,” said David N. Bossie, president of Citizens United. “Washington needs entrepreneurs like Tom Smith in the halls of the US Senate to right a ship of state that has been adrift way too long. “Tom is running because he believes in American Exceptionalism and wants future generations to have access to the American dream. Washington is full of ca4|
reer politicians and I am sure Tom Smith will be able to teach them a thing or two about how to balance a budget and create jobs for Americans because he has actually done it. Smith has the tools necessary to take on Bob Casey Jr. this fall,” Bossie added. “I’m honored to have the support of CUPVF, and share their conservative vision of reducing the size of government, lowering taxes, cutting spending, and promoting family values,” said Smith. “I look forward to working with them to defeat the Obama-Casey agenda in November.” CUPVF has also contributed $10,000 total – $5,000 each for Smith’s primary and general elections. Smith adds the Citizens United endorsement to a growing list of national endorsers that includes Dick Morris and Steve Forbes.
