ex 438 NEW SOUTH WALES | Collections and Miscellaneous Groupings 438 F 1901 Presentation Set of 17 pre-Federation CTO stamps ½d to 20/- Carrington, all have corner triple-oval ‘NSW’ cancels and includes Postage Dues in BW #ND1-37 range where 1d, 2d and 4d are on chalk-surfaced paper and with 5/- the extremely scarce P11 BW #ND33w cat $1,250. All were affixed to the presentation sheet (folds not affecting any adhesive) by their own gum and show light foxing in places. At the very least, the 17 postage stamps retail over $500; the postage dues, with the 5/variety, catalogues over $1,800. Not many of these completely intact these days. The aniline UV reaction is clearly present though not very strong, couple slightly nibbed or short perfs, well-centred with part neat registered cds, Cat $750. 10/- Dark Grey & Pink with indiscernible aniline reaction, vignette in a definitely much darker grey than usually seen so possibly BW #50E (and variety of SG #43b). Barely perceptible hinge trace, small unlisted Coloured spot in shading NE corner, one slightly nibbed perf, almost perfectly centred. A very attractive example of a better shade (certainly not rose-crimson), Cat $1,750 (as lesser valued aniline pink shade). 10/- Grey & Pink BW #50A, well centred, Cat $300. 10/- Dark Grey & Aniline Pink BW #50E (golden orange u/v reaction), minor soiling, fine used, Cat $1,250. 10/- Grey & Pink ovpt ‘SPECIMEN’ type C, BW #50x, couple of nibbed perfs, well-centred MLH with Hunchback roo #50(V)h [L17].
