Architectural Design Vision T I M E TA B L E H I STO R Y We purchased the vacant land in January of 2016. It was one of the last pieces of vacant land available in the Lawrenceville area. As an architect I have designed well over 400 custom houses. I poured my heart into this house as it took over one year to design. With such a narrow footprint, I did not want the house to have the same design mistakes many narrow houses have, and I wanted it to be one of a kind. There is no other house like this one. Construction started in July of 2017. It was completed approximately 9 months later. It was built by the same quality craftsmen who build Infinity Custom Homes.
ARCHITECT’S VISION • EXTERIOR The idea was to create an exterior profile that was both a blend of an industrial building and the warmth of a home. The vision was to imagine an existing 100-year-old block foundation with a corrugated mass sitting on top of it. Then I would ‘cut’ and slice into this form, whereby exposing the residential building growing within. The aluminum siding will eventually dull to look aged, therefore completing the vision of a new residential building growing within an existing industrial building. If you carefully study the exterior, all the ‘cuts’ into this structure expose the residential elements of the building. The second-floor deck area, the pool atrium, the roof deck, the sundeck and the end of the house facing Plum Way, were all ‘cut’ away from this industrial building form.
D E S I G N E L E M E N TS • E X T E R I O R The pool atrium ‘cut-out’ was designed to let volumes of sunshine into the center of the house. You will notice how naturally bright the middle of the house will be on a sunny day. This ‘cut’ into the Atrium allows the pool area to be totally private. No neighbors can see you swimming in the pool. You will feel the real warmth of that area as sunshine reflects off the exterior atrium windows, warming the entire area. The pool’s southwest exposure will give you sun at the pool deck from 10am to 5pm during most of the summer months. At night, you will enjoy sitting in the pool next to the firepit under the stars drinking your favorite beverage while listening to music. The pool will heat up over 105 degrees to enjoy all year around. The rooftop bar is not just for parties. We have spent many of summer nights binge watching movies all night. One of the best times to enjoy it is on the fourth of July. You will be able to see seven or more firework displays throughout the surrounding area. If you are looking for full sun, the Sundeck is the perfect place to spend your time. It also is a great place to practice your golf swing or install planters for a rooftop garden. At night, you will be able to light up the exterior of the house in any color you choose from your phone. Green for St. Patrick’s Day, Red, White and Blue for the 4th. Hue LED lights are located on all front exterior lights and along the front exterior railings, including the roof bar.

ARCHITECT’S VISION • INTERIOR The vision was to create a timeless interior style and keep every room warn and inviting while still mixing in some modern design elements. The stainless-steel cable railings from the exterior are brought into the interior for a homogenous design. The warmth of the brown floors and doors contrast the chrome finish of the lights and fixtures. The design is consistent throughout the entire house. The silver birch tree was inspiration to the colors and textures throughout the home. The main focal point of the second floor is the Kitchen and Great Room area. The island is an interpretation of modern version of a farm table where a family would gather for dinner. You will be able to seat 10-12 people around the table if needed. The kitchen layout allows a chef to prepare a meal while you are seated at the ‘farm table’ with your family. With a distinct prep area and two sinks, making meals together will never be so much fun. If you wish to watch TV while preparing your meal, just turn the TV towards the kitchen. The open floor plan with the Great Room and Kitchen will allow you to easily entertain 16-20 people at once. You will always be able to interest your guests with the color changing water vapor fireplace which never needs refilled. The fireplace is safe for pets and children and does not give off heat. You will be able to use it anytime of the year to give any occasion that special ambiance. The owner’s bathroom is intended to feel like a spa day after a hard day of work. The infrared sauna will relax you and the three shower heads will wash away your stress. The undercounter refrigerator is very handy if you need a cold drink in the middle of the night.
GREEN BUILDING RESPECTFUL Although this house is not Green Building Certified, many of the materials and products are green building recognized. The bamboo floors, the Cumaru wood decking, the porcelain tile, the aluminum siding, the cement board siding and the cellulose insulation are all green building products. The entire house uses LED lights. The HVAC system is highly rated for its efficiency.
IN SUMMARY The location of this house in incredible! It enables you to a 15 min. walk to 20 plus eateries, shopping at many boutique shops, your choice of coffee shops, a grocery store and spirit store. You do not have the noise that comes from Butler Street, nor it’s traffic. It is very quiet especially on nights and on weekends. There is plenty of parking for all your guests when you entertain. We have certainly enjoyed this house and have had many, many great memories. It is the perfect house to unwind, to entertain, to work from, but mostly to enjoy.
