“My images must fill the gap between reality and fantasy. The challenge of a photographer is to present images in a fresh new perspective. Documentary shots may show incredible detail, or provide context to the subject, but I am looking to inspire imagination by showing less detail. Be it motion blurs or digital compositing, the image in my minds eye is always the goal.” – N or m Stelfox

William Cooke started painting at fifteen and then went on to study illustration at the Sheridan College Institute. After graduating in 2003 he displayed his paintings in various group and solo exhibitions. His work began to evolve into a more multidisciplinary approach after exposure to new techniques from the film industry. William was inspired by all aspects of cinematography and went on to receive a film grant from the Canada Arts Council as well as the Ontario Arts Council. He has created and directed numerous music videos and independent short films. Photography was a natural progression for his art, in his work you see a compositional fusion of painting and motion. William has the following to say about his work “I love using the camera to paint with light. Photographing light trails excites me as it combines abstract expressionism, capturing gesture and a supports my new love for minimalism.

I’ve been drawn by the magical beauty behind fine arts and design since childhood. Having a successful carrier in architecture and design for quite a long time, I began to deal with fine art. I began to look for new ways to express my emotions and feelings. The process of creating art gave me what I wanted - endless ways of expressing myself. During the creating process, I don’t limit myself to a specific style or medium therefore my art is mostly represents mixed media. My creating process is based on my emotions and my mood. I’m very spontaneous. Today I might use photography to convey my feelings...tomorrow I might paint to express myself. My work is infused with spirit and energy I felt at the moment I created it. It encourages viewers to interpret it their own way. My art evokes different feelings in the audience depending on their individual experiences and memories.

Beth Ten Hove is a contemporary painter, creating abstract landscapes in bright fluid acrylics. Her work is a colorful celebration of natural landscapes and our deep connection to the earth. Her paintings are highly textured and layers of transparent color are used to explore the reflection of natural light and hidden layers within the natural environment. A central theme of her work is the visual symmetry of land, water and sky as they converge upon a common horizon.

Self-taught, I invite you to partake in my genuine and transparent vision of industrialization set in a sensitive nocturnal setting. The picturesque vision I propose tells a tale that my expertise in digital technologies enhances, giving it much more depth, and testifies to my passion for cinema. While old industrial buildings sparkle in the night, the city swells in a symphony of energies that catches my photographic eye and gets transformed into a rhythm. This pilgrimage along patrimonial vestiges and various architectures becomes an intriguing labyrinth. The pricelessness of these buildings gets evoked, turning urbanity into food for thought.

Lori Mirabelli is a lyrical abstract painter based in Newmarket, Ontario. She uses a personal language of form, colour and line to explore the complexities of the inner city of Toronto. Lori Mirabelli paints intuitively allowing her fascination with the hustle and bustle of the downtown core of Toronto to guide her. For Lori Mirabelli, abstract forms allow her to represent complicated relationships between individuals and social environments. Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Lori Mirabelli studied psychology and visual art at the University of Laurentian. Some of her art influences have been Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. Art is an important component of her being and this can be seen through how she translates her interpretation of normal every day life on to canvas. She has exhibited in a number of exhibitions in Ontario. Her paintings are found in many private collections nationally and internationally.

“This collection embodies the beauty of Nature’s evolution. Nature’s constant change is a reminder of its admired biological details. The Feather collection demonstrates the simplistic softness of the feather and its intricate detail. Dot and Merge evoke the remembrance of nature’s fluidity being washed away if not captured.”
