Beginning Art

Essential Yoga

Clay, Crafts & Goodies
ages 8–13 Every other week will be dedicated to clay projects. We will explore ways to make clay animal sculptures, dragons, castles and houses, penguins jars, jewelry boxes, plates, bowls, or even your favorite video game character...sky’s the limit, it’s camper’s choice. Wheel throwing will be taught if classes are allowed indoors. Alternating weeks will be craft time. Past projects for crafts weeks have been: game making, mosaics, slime making, mix media sculpture, marbleized rock painting, exploding chalk, and cracked marbles!

Off the Cuff: An Improv Jam

Evan Johnson is an Oakland-based theatre maker, playwright, and teaching artist who has taught actors of all ages—youth to seniors. In 2006, Evan graduated from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and has worked independently as both a teaching artist and freelance performance maker ever since. Evan is the writer/performer of three plays: Don’t Feel, Pansy, and Barn Owl. His work has been produced locally and toured nationally at various festivals.
Over the last decade, Evan has collaborated with a number of notable Bay Area choreographers in a wide array of dance/theatre hybrids, including Jesse Hewitt (FREEDOM), Hope Mohr Dance (ridetherhythm), and Deborah Slater Dance Theater (A Seat At The Table). For the City of San Francisco, Evan launched The Harvey Milk Center for the Arts’ Junior Acting Troupe which staged two professionally produced performances a year (from 2012 to 2019) under his direction.
In 2015, Evan launched The Cosmic Elders Theatre Ensemble, a collaboration-based platform for San Francisco-based seniors (and a rotating list of guest collaborators). For more info on Evan see: www.evanjohnsonplays.com.
