Summer Science SeaCamp, with Foss Waterway Seaport and Pierce County Parks, offers a chance to explore the worlds of the beach and sea in new ways that bring science to life! nBricks 4 Kidz LEGO® Camp - Introduction to

Coding with Scratch 3

Most kids love to play video games, watch animations, and build with LEGO® Bricks. But what if you could combine all that with learning how to control the action yourself, by learning how to code your own games, animations, and control LEGO® Models with a computer!

This NEW for 2022 camp is designed for kids with little to no coding experience, especially if they are LEGO® lovers looking to expand their horizons and learn the language of tomorrow: programming. We use Scratch 3 -- an amazing code environment developed at MIT especially for kids. Scratch 3 curriculum is used at many levels educationally, from Elementary school on up to high school, and it’s a great way to expand your child’s play time into a foundation for career potential! Kids will spend time on computers and tablets, but no, we don’t expect them to sit in front of a de-vice for 3 hours! We swap activities about every 20 minutes so that kids are getting up, stretching, and doing creative building activities, mixed in with learning how to code. Campers should already have good reading skills.

Not sure if your child can keep up, or not sure if they will have enough to keep them busy? The Bricks 4 Kidz® approach to teaching code is fun and helps kids self-pace, so that they are challenged, but not frustrated, and able to learn and apply more each day.

All campers make and take home a custom mini-figure and photo collage of the week’s experience. Please bring a snack and water bottle. Also register for the afternoon Bricks 4 Kidz® LEGO® Camp: Video Game Design and get a full day of supervision 8:30am-4:30pm at no extra charge (bring your lunch).

For more Bricks 4 Kidz®

see page 41

Maybe you’ve already got the basics down, or maybe you’re a quick learner, and you’re ready to take your coding skills to the next level. Each day we’ll deconstruct a classic video game type, to examine what makes it work, and then build our own unique playable versions.

nBricks 4 Kidz LEGO® Camp - Robotics Inventor

This exciting NEW for 2022 camp is geared for all inventors ages 6-12 whether experienced or not. Bricks 4 Kidz® utilizes LEGO® robotics technologies, programming, and their own unique robot model plans. Each day campers build the robot of the day with a programmable hub, motors, and sensors, use computers to code it, then play, experiment, and modify it or build something new. Learning the power of invention equips them at an early age to succeed in a technology-based marketplace. They’ll think it’s fun, you’ll know it’s educational, too! All campers make and take home a custom mini-figure and photo collage of the week’s experience. Please bring a snack and water bottle.
