The Academic Senate members considered drafting a policy on Monday, Oct. 21 that would notify faculty of students with a history of violent behavior while still respecting the privacy of the students.

It has come to the attention of the Ethics Committee that over the past year, several faculty members have had concerns about violent altercations they have had with students, according to Cara Gillis, chair of the committee.

“The faculty members say that if they had known the student had a history of aggressive behavior or a mental condition they would have handled the situation differently,” Gillis said.
