CONCEPT Parking forest Prato While our future thrives to the world of sustainability we might have to reimagine our generic spaces that we use in our day to day life also. Prato the one of the prominent town in italy is giving us the opportunity to think like a forest. The town is rich with cultural and historical fabric where the future architecture should be aiding its sustainable future. In this terraviva we are proposing a transformation of a conventional parking area to a living forest which brings people together as a social space and also serving it purpose as carparking. The additional functions includes food spaces and exercise space most needed space in the urban fabric. Our concept is to rethink the classical monofunctional car park.the site chosen was one of the largest parking area of prato centre with its proximity to the old wall one of the significant heritage of the city. The initial thought was the ways to permit rain water drainage in the soil of the site by leveling up the cars to nurture a dedicated spacious urban forest where its three lives can fall & degrade freely to the earth creating a space where the children’s can play around. On the whole the site has its physically three parts the first one near to the historic wall with car-parking in the ground with living trees supporting the platforms over it to serve as exercise jogging spaces and at significant times as restaurant seating spaces. While on the second part in the middle of the site where it slopes down we strategically places the two storey car parking building. The third park is a natural forest space where people can walk through seat and enjoy.
