Welcome to eLearning at Pikes Peak Community College! PPCC’s class schedule includes a wide variety of online, hybrid and ITV classes that meet the same high academic standards as their traditional counterparts. Like the rest of PPCC, everyone in eLearning is committed to helping you meet your academic goals, whether you are seeking a career and technical degree, the first half of a bachelor’s degree, or just a few classes to help you brush up your skills. And we know that you are busy! The flexibility of online, ITV and hybrid courses means that you can combine classes with work and family commitments into a schedule that is convenient for you. Some degrees are available fully online, or you can choose to attend by selecting a mix of online, hybrid, ITV and traditional sections to suit your needs. A couple of notes to help you use this schedule:
PPCC offers two kinds of online courses. PPCC-based classes are identified by an N in the section number (ENG 121-1N1, for instance). Since they are fully online, students access classes at their convenience within the due dates and other guidelines established by their instructors. You should plan to log in a minimum of three times a week for each class, and be sure to allow ample time for the online discussions and other activities that our courses require. CCC Online courses (identified by a C in the section number) are also fully online, but for these sections PPCC joins forces with the twelve other community colleges in Colorado and students and faculty may come from any of those schools.
The format for hybrid, or blended delivery courses includes some in-class meetings with online course content and activities. PPCC-based hybrid format classes are identified by an H in the section number (BIO 101-1H1, for example). In most cases, students will meet once a week for lecture, hands-on learning, and face-to-face activities. Other content and assignments will be accessed and completed online.
Interactive Television courses (identified as ITV sections) are broadcast over Comcast Channel 21 and Falcon Broadband Channel 78, and you must have one of those cable systems to access them. You may either watch them live and call in with questions or record and view them later. These ITV courses are offered through the Communications, Humanities & Technical Studies Division, not eLearning. Brian Wheeler is the Department Chair, and can be reached at 719-502-3458 or 1-800-456-6847 ext. 3458.
Whether you choose online, hybrid or ITV courses, you can be confident that you will be accessing the same quality classes that we offer in a traditional format. Every course meets the same state-approved course outcomes as the face-to-face sections do. Also, PPCC faculty members are trained in the teaching and learning dynamics of nontraditional education, and their course designs reflect that knowledge. Finally, our eLearning Office at Centennial Campus (A-209) can answer your questions about how online and hybrid courses can work for you. Just stop by, email (elearning@ppcc.edu), or call (502-3555). For ITV courses, contact the Communications, Humanities & Technical Studies Division at 502-3200. All the best, Wendy MacColl, Director Office of eLearning

Please note that the remedial math classes have been restructured. The new Developmental Math sequence is MAT 045, MAT 090 and MAT 055. (MAT 045 covers both MAT 030 and MAT 060 content. MAT 099 will no longer be offered effective Spring 2014, so students who were planning to take Intermediate Algebra should take MAT 055: Algebraic Literacy instead.) MAT 078-MAT 088: These are 1-credit hour modules that span the content of MAT 045, MAT 090 and MAT 055. It is recommended that several modules be completed each semester. (On the first day of class students will take an ALEKS assessment and be moved to the appropriate module.)
