Pikes Peak Community College
COURSE SCHEDULE SUMMER 2016
PPCC.EDU
Welcome to eLearning at Pikes Peak Community College! PPCC’s class schedule includes a wide variety of online and hybrid delivery classes that meet the same high academic standards as their traditional counterparts. Like the rest of PPCC, everyone in eLearning is committed to helping you meet your academic goals, whether you are seeking a career and technical degree, the first half of a bachelor’s degree, or just a few classes to help you brush up your skills. And we know that you are busy! The flexibility of online and hybrid courses means that you can combine classes with work and family commitments into a schedule that is convenient for you. Some degrees are available fully online, or you can choose to attend by selecting a mix of online, hybrid, and traditional sections to suit your needs. A couple of notes to help you use this schedule:
PPCC offers two kinds of online courses. o PPCC Online Campus classes are identified by an N in the section number (ENG 121-1N1, for instance). These courses are all taught by PPCC instructors. Since they are fully online, students access classes at their convenience within the due dates and other guidelines established by their instructors. You should plan to log in a minimum of three times a week for each class, and be sure to allow ample time for the online discussions and other activities that our courses require. o
CCCOnline courses (identified by a C in the section number) are also fully online. However, for these sections PPCC joins forces with the twelve other community colleges in Colorado and students and faculty may come from any of those schools.
The format for hybrid, or blended delivery courses includes some in-class meetings with online course content and activities. PPCC-based hybrid format classes are identified by an H in the section number (BIO 101-1H1, for example). In most cases, students will meet once a week for lecture, hands-on learning, and face-to-face activities. Other content and assignments will be accessed and completed online.
Whether you choose online or hybrid delivery courses, you can be confident that you will be accessing the same quality classes that we offer in a traditional format. Every course meets the same state-approved course outcomes as the face-to-face sections do. Also, PPCC faculty members are trained in the teaching and learning dynamics of nontraditional education, and their courses reflect that knowledge. Finally, our eLearning Office at Centennial Campus (A-229) can answer your questions about how online and hybrid courses can work for you. Just stop by, email (elearning@ppcc.edu), or call us (719-502-3555).

Course Delivery Methods PPCC Online Campus Internet-based Classes Students can access these classes from any computer connected to the Internet, including computers on campus. Students will receive assignments, participate in threaded discussions, turn in assignments, and take examinations online. In most cases, no trips to campus are required. Most instructors establish due dates for assignments and examinations, but within those time frames students work at their own pace, with no specific times to be online. For more information, check "eLearning" on the PPCC website or call 719-502-3555. NOTE: PPCC Internet-based classes follow the same schedule as regular classes regarding start, end, drop and withdrawal dates. Important Facts About PPCC Online Campus 1. Textbooks are usually the same books used for on-campus classes. All textbooks are available at the Centennial Campus bookstore or online at www.ppccbookstore.com. 2. Classes are accessed through the PPCC Portal. Click on PPCC Online Campus in the Online Course access box from the portal. 3. PPCC Online classes are NOT self-paced. If you do not log in within this time frame, you may be dropped as a “no-show” in your online class. Most instructors will have assignments due within the first week. CCCOnline Classes CCCOnline combines the efforts of most community colleges in Colorado to provide classes and in some cases full degrees for students who want to pursue their education online. All students must choose a home school, and grades earned by students who choose PPCC will go directly to their PPCC transcripts. Students can access these classes from any computer connected to the Internet, including computers on campus when PPCC classes are in session. Students will receive assignments, participate in threaded discussions, turn in assignments, and take examinations online. Campus visits are not required. Most instructors establish due dates for assignments and examinations, but within those time frames students work at their own pace, with no specific times to be online.
