New Awards Available We are pleased to announce that there will be three new chapter awards given out at this summer’s Convention in Philadelphia. We will be awarding two new Certificates of Achievement, one for Philanthropy and the other for Fraternalism, along with recognizing the Chapter Advisor of the Year. Please speak with you chapter leaders and make sure to apply to these new awards and ensure that your chapter is recognized for the great achievements you have made over the past two semesters. You can apply online at our awards website. Don’t forget to recognize brothers who have excelled this academic year by applying for individual awards and recognizing those alumni who have continued to support the chapter by applying for alumni awards. Hope to see you at Convention in Philadelphia!

Convention Delegates The International Headquarters has set a goal of 120 undergraduate delegates at this year’s Annual Leadership Convention. We are excited to anticipate this level of participation but the responsibility is on all of you our

undergraduate brothers to commit to attending and to help recruit other brothers to attend as well. Your chapter Rex will be your primary delegate, but we encourage all brothers looking to learn more about Pi Lambda Phi and the exciting things we have planned for next academic year as well as make new fraternal bonds with brothers and alumni from around North America. Help us reach our attendance goal by registering or encouraging your brothers to register for this year’s Convention.

MD Pi Phi Wins Awards and Cleans Up Skate Park Congratulations to our MD Pi Phi Chapter at Towson University for winning five awards at their Greek Life Awards Banquet! These included Most Improved Chapter, Excellence in Recruitment, Outstanding Scholarship Program, Outstanding IFC Chapter Delegate and Outstanding Community Service awards. Great job brothers! Rex Joe Poole shares his experience with helping benefit the Skate Park Of Baltimore:

“This community service project I hold very closely to my heart. While working with Skate Park of Baltimore we had 25 members of our fraternity go to inner city Baltimore to clean up local skate parks for the Baltimore youth. During

these clean ups we got to meet many of the local skateboarders as well as many of the children that believe this is the only thing that they have. Once the kids saw that we were there to help, they completely dropped trying to skate and began to help us with cleaning up their skateboard park. The person that runs the organization Skate Park of Baltimore believes that if we can get these kids involved at a younger age that they will be able to have something that they care about and hopefully this will keep them out of trouble and off the streets. Being one of those kids that Skate Park of Baltimore has helped in the past I realize that once I saw that people cared about something and were willing to take a weekend off to help keep my “Home “ clean it helped me understand how we impacted these kids with this project. Also, while at the Skate Park we painted all the ramps with weatherproof paint. This is so the ramps will not rot and that the kids will be able to skate in this safe Environment for a long time to come. While doing this project we accumulated 104 community service hours and got to meet some amazing people at the same time. This Community Service event helped us not only reach out to the youth of Baltimore but also helped us understand how hard of a life that some of these kids have. To know that the only thing that some of these people have to look forward to is skateboard I believe it helped open the eyes of some f the brothers that have never been on the other side of the fence. By this I mean not everyone has been in the position where they could receive help from someone else. Through this event and meeting these people I believe it showed the brothers how hard life can be for some people as well as how to enjoy the simple things in life such as something as little as a skateboard. Besides that I believe this event was extremely fun while being helpful at the same time. Like I said earlier we got to meet some good people as well as do a great thing for the community.
