Just like his appearance at the APEC Summit in 2015, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau again received a rock star’s welcome wherever he went in Manila during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit on November 13 and 14. Hundreds of costumed dancers who greeted his arrival at the airport transformed into hundreds of screaming fans, shaking hands and taking photos of the prime minister. And it was more of the same when Trudeau posed for photos with cheering crowds at a Jollibee fast food restaurant. The prime minister paid a visit to a women’s clinic in Tondo, funded by Canada, and later participated in a panel discussion See TRUDEAU p4

Going through “carmageddon” I left Metro Manila in 1990 to live in Davao City, and 27 years there have really spoiled me. The air is clean, the food is good and inexpensive, and everyone is friendly. It’s also so safe that you can take a walk at any time of the day or night without fear of being robbed or harmed in any way. The white sand beaches in nearby provinces are easily accessible, and if that’s not your thing, you can drive an hour two and find yourself in mountain areas that are still unspoiled. Perhaps the only gripe I have right now is that traffic has worsened over the past year since our previous mayor, Rodrigo Duterte, became President of the Republic. With Duterte spending half of each week in Davao, it is inevitable that the city would become filled with visitors, and their presence has contributed to the congestion in the streets. But traffic is still at a manageable level, and one can simply avoid certain places and times of day to be spared the jams. It’s still nowhere near the kind of traffic that not just characterizes, but literally defines Metro Manila. To be fair, I have been in very bad traffic yet since I came back to “semi-live” here two months ago – that is, until I experienced what people here call “carmageddon”

last Saturday, November 11. Before that, the worst traffic jam I got into was when my wife and I drove up to Baguio on the weekend before All Saints’ Day, and that was understandable because people were going home to their respective provinces. Government, particularly the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), had for weeks been warning that traffic would be severely affected by the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit, which would be held in mid-November. In fact, that was the reason work and classes were suspended from November 13 to 15. What many apparently did not expect was that the traffic jams would start earlier since the world leaders and their delegations were to arrive on the weekend before the declared holidays. I was among them, and so it was that I was on the road on the morning of the 11th and found myself stuck in traffic for three hours for a distance of 13 kilometres. Usually that trip would take only 45 minutes, and it even said so on Waze when we checked our route. But we left at about the same time two lanes of EDSA, the main thoroughfare through which the ASEAN delegates would pass on their way to the summit venues,

were closed off to regular traffic, and we found ourselves in a sea of vehicles that were hardly moving. To put that in perspective, I could walk 13 kilometers in a little over an hour. In fact, many bus passengers decided to disembark and walk, perhaps hoping to reach the point in the highway where vehicles were moving. I’m sure they were disappointed because the whole stretch of EDSA was one big parking lot. Worse, the alternate roads were also affected because vehicles were making detours there also. And when we passed an MRT (Metro Rail Transit) train station we found a long line coming down from the platform above snaking its way to the sidewalk. Needless to say the trains that passed overhead were also jam packed as people realized taking the bus was useless. In other words, we were all stuck in one big jam from which there was no escape. Except, apparently, for a few who chose to disregard the rules. I think that while most people were angry at the traffic jam, most everyone accepted it as a natural consequence of the ASEAN Summit. Simply put, we were the host of the gathering and so there was nothing we could do but put up with the inconvenience. But there were people like veteran actress Maria Isabel Lopez who actually removed the plastic

divider cones that separated the ASEAN lanes and drove through them with her hazard lights on, making it look like she was a delegate. She even posted a video and some photos of her doing the misdeed on her Instagram account: “Driving with hazards ‘on’ at the #aseanlane. I removed the divider cones!! Acted like an official delegate. Then all the other motorists behind me followed! If you can’t beat ‘em, join them!” Now the actress is in hot water, with government agencies and the police supporting a move to suspend and even revoke her driver’s license. What she did was a serious breach and endangered not just her but other motorists as well. I shudder to think of what might have happened had the police and the military gotten wind of an unauthorized car moving through the ASEAN lanes. It could have been construed as a terrorist attack, and the authorities would have been justified in taken appropriate forceful action. Trudeau also met with the Filipino-Canadian innovators who designed the e-Jeepney and took a ride in a prototype of the new electric mass transit vehicle. Justin Trudeau is the first sitting Canadian prime minister to participate in the ASEAN summit. Looming over the summit itself was whether the issue of extrajudicial killings and human rights abuses in the host country would be raised. Since the beginning of the Duterte administration in June 2016, more than 12,000 people have been killed by police and vigilantes on suspicions of drug crimes, without due process of law. Most of the ASEAN summit participants, including President Donald Trump of the United States, remained silent on this issue. New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau, however did comment on the situation. After a private meeting with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Trudeau told a press briefing on the sidelines of the summit, “I emphasized the people-to-people ties between Canada and the Philippines and See TRUDEAU p6

Finding good information while staying safe on line. Dear Ate Anna, My 15-year-old daughter spends all of her time on her phone. I worry about who she is talking to and what information she is accessing. I have tried to talk to her about it but we just get into fights. What can I do? Worried Mother Dear Worried Mother, Thank you for your e-mail! We get a lot of questions from parents who are concerned about their teenagers. Technology can bring a lot of positive things into our lives. For parents of teenagers, having a phone means we can better communicate with them throughout the day. It also means they can get a hold of us quickly if needed. Technology can also bring challenges. Sometimes we, not only teenagers, can have a hard time finding a balance between being on line and being present with the people around us. There can be concerns about privacy and safety when your teenager connects with others they don’t know on sites such as Facebook or Snapchat. It also means that they might have access to health or other information that is untrue or misleading. Teenagers can be taught Internet skills so they have a safe on line experience. Keep trying to reach out to your daughter. Be as non-judgemental and open

as possible, making it clear that you are only interested in her and her safety. If you can, make an agreement about phone usage at home. For example, the family may choose to have a “no phones” policy while sharing meals together, or a 9:00 p.m. cut-off time. Try to have an open conversation with your daughter about who she is connecting with on line. Make sure she understands the importance of only connecting with people she knows in person. Make sure she understands it is unsafe to meet somebody she has only met on line. Help her set up her privacy settings on her phone to make sure her private information is secure. For more help, access mediasmarts.ca. The Internet is full of good information and bad information. You can help her build skills in knowing how to tell the difference. For example, many young people consult the Internet for sexual health information. The danger is that there are many sites that have out-dated or untrue sexual health information. Sometimes it is difficult to tell if a web site can be trusted. Usually, the only way to find out is to check its credentials and who the site is connected to. A good sign that a web site is reliable is if it is connected to your local health authority. Web sites of community health centres like SERC or Nine

Circles Community Health have reliable information about sexual health. If a web site judges sexual behaviour, tells a person what to do with their bodies, or talks about sex in a way that is shameful or negative, those are usually signs that the site cannot be trusted. If you have any questions about whether a website or source of information is reliable, please feel free to ask us! Ate Anna Ate Anna welcomes your questions and comments. Please write to: Ate Anna, Suite 200226 Osborne St. N., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1V4 or e-mail: info@ serc.mb.ca. Please visit us at www.serc.mb.ca. Immigration levels for 2018 to 2020 announced Would you be surprised to hear that Canada plans on admitting nearly 1,000,000 new immigrants between 2018 and 2020? Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussain released this target as part of the government’s new multi-year Immigration Levels Plan, which he labeled “the most ambitious immigration levels in recent Canadian history.” The plan, which was tabled in the House of Commons on November 1, 2017, continues to stress Economic migrants as the chief target. His announcement corresponds with the recent high activity of the Express Entry program, which has been issuing invitations to apply at record numbers. The announcement represents a departure from past years when immigration targets or levels were set by the year. The change to long term planning has come about as a result of continuing discussions with business leaders and provincial authorities. “This historic multiyear immigration levels plan will benefit all Canadians because immigrants will contribute their talents to support our economic growth and innovation, helping to keep our country at the forefront of the global economy,” stated Minister Hussen at the press conference held in Toronto for the announcement. Over the next three years, 310,000 new permanent residents

will settle in Canada in 2018. This number will be increased to 330,000 newcomers in 2019 and 340,000 in 2020, as revealed in the article entitled “Canada to Welcome Nearly One Million New Immigrants Through 2020,” in CIC News Canada Immigration Newsletter, November 2017. The bulk of the numbers, or 565,000, will be admitted under the skilled worker program or economic immigration such as provincial nominee programs. The intended targets for Express Entry admissions for the current year is 71,700 with 74,900 for 2018, 81,400 for 2019 and 85,800 for 2020. The remaining 183,000 or so economic migrants and their accompanying family members would fall under the PNP target numbers of 51,000 for 2017, 55,000 for 2018, 61,000 for 2019, and 67,800 for 2020. The multi-year Immigration Levels Plan also contains a component under Family Class immigration. The Family Class targets are 84,000 for 2017, 86,000 for 2018, 88,500 for 2019 and 91,000 for 2020. The family stream remains a priority for the current government but the numbers announced show that the current government continues to place a great emphasis upon skilled immigrants under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canada Experience Class (CEC)

along with other related classes of economic immigrants. The pie chart on this page shows the distribution of projected arrivals in 2018 from the various immigration application streams. The projected numbers of 2018 show a slight rise in the number of family class admissions with a change from 84,000 in 2017 to 86,000 in 2018 and a rise in refugees resettled in Canada from 40,000 in 2017 to 43,000 in 2018. A further 3,500 individuals are targeted for permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds (a separate application stream). Federal immigration authorities expect that by 2036 the share of the Canadian population made up of immigrants will rise to 30 per cent from the 2016 level of 22 per cent. The Immigration Levels Plan shows a serious commitment on the part of the current government to address Canada’s economic needs over the next few years as well as continuing family reunification and international commitments to resettle our fair share of refugees. Unlike our neighbour to the south, Canada continues to be a welcoming place for new immigrants and a choice destination. Canada, eh, we would not have it any other way. Jointly shared debt – Part I by Tim St. Vincent This is a big topic so let’s break it down into two parts. It’s a good thing right? I mean if I can help out my child or friend by co-signing a loan, or being a guarantor, it’s a good thing because I am helping someone. They make their payments and everything is all good. There is nothing to worry about – or is there? Joint debt can be a tricky thing. First let’s make sure we all understand what joint debt is. Joint debt can be when you and your spouse get a house and both of your names are on the mortgage, or you get a new car and both of your names are on the loan document. Sometimes this can help you get a lower interest rate. Joint debt means that you are both, equally, either together or apart, 100 per cent legally responsible for paying back the debt. This isn’t unusual and it is fairly common with spouses, but even this can have some negative consequences.

Then there is joint debt with children (maybe Johnny needs help getting the car he wants, or with his first mortgage) or the friend that you completely trust who wants you to co-sign or act as a guarantor for her on a loan so that she can afford to go back home for a nice visit. It is very important to understand that when you co-sign on a loan, or become a guarantor (they essentially mean the same thing), that if the other person(s) do not make their payments, you must make the payments. You are 100 per cent responsible for that loan, just the same as the other person. This can have a lot of unintended consequences. Let’s take a look at what can easily happen. Your son, “Johnny” needs some help. His credit card debt has gotten out of control and he wants to get a consolidation loan to pay off the credit cards, but the bank won’t give him the loan unless he gets a co-signer, so he asks mom and dad for help. As parents, you want to help your child and would feel very guilty if

you said no. So you agree. Johnny gets his loan and pays off most of his credit cards, but not all of them. He wants to have some fun with “his” new money, so he goes out and buys a new TV. Now that his cards are paid off, and he has that new TV, well he needs a better sound system, so he uses his credit cards to pick up a few other things to go along. I mean why not, the cards are paid off now and just waiting to be used. He will just pay for it later. After all, that is what credit is for; buy now, pay later – or whenever. A few months later Johnny loses his job and is a little embarrassed and doesn’t tell his parents. He stops paying his credit card bills, which have once again become very large, and his consolidation loan that mom and dad helped him get. Months go by and Johnny misses more and more payments. Six months later, his mom and dad go to the bank to renew their mortgage. The person at the bank said it wouldn’t be a problem; just a formality as she has known you for many years and knows that you take care of your bills. Then she looks up from

her paperwork with a concerned look on her face. All of Johnny’s missed payments affect not only Johnny, but you as well because you co-signed the loan. You are 100 per cent just as responsible for those missed payments as Johnny. The co-signed debt is considered your debt as much as his. As far as the credit bureaus are concerned, they are payments that you missed too. Both yours and Johnny’s credit scores will have taken a hit and gone down. It may even be possible that due to Johnny’s additional debt, you no longer qualify for the mortgage because your joint debt with Johnny is included in your total debt when calculating how much debt you can handle! Oh, and of course you only found out about the missed payments now, while you are at the bank discussing a mortgage renewal. Let’s put another spin on this. Let’s say Johnny is doing great and staying on top of his payments. Mom and dad decide it is time to do some estate planning and decide that they don’t want to bother with a Power of Attorney. So they put Johnny down as

a joint holder on all of their accounts. That way, if anything happens to them, the accounts will transfer straight to Johnny. Or if they are in the hospital, he can access their accounts to pay bills. Sounds harmless, right? Wrong. Let’s say Johnny’s situation has changed and he now falls behind in his payments. The banks have the right to go into your joint accounts now shared with Johnny, and they take money out of your accounts to pay off Johnny’s joint consolidation loan debt. That could come as a big surprise to you when the next mortgage payment is due and there is no money in the account! We will continue this discussion in the December 16th issue. Kitchen and feng shui The kitchen has a special place in feng shui. The stove, in particular, has an especially important place in the home and the kitchen. That’s because this is the appliance that generates the meals that feed the residents of that home. On its own, though, the kitchen is thought to press down luck in feng shui. That means, even if you have good luck in this room, or bad, the kitchen by its very nature will stifle the luck in this area. That being said, if the kitchen is located in a good direction for you based on your pa kua number, then the food prepared and consumed here will be especially beneficial. If, based on your pa kua number, this is an unlucky area; the bad luck will be pressed down, therefore, making this a good location for a kitchen. Here are some more kitchen feng shui basics: Avoid locating a bedroom over a kitchen. If this isn’t possible, then make extra sure that the bed does not share the same wall as the stove. Likewise, try not to put a bedroom, or bed, on the other side of the wall where your stove is placed. Kitchens should ideally be placed near the back of the house

and not in the middle. Placement at the front of the house is also not advisable. Don’t paint kitchens red. Kitchens have fire in them already; don’t increase the “fire energy” by painting the kitchen red. Kitchens in harmful positions: If your kitchen is located in the NW, SW, or centre of your house: Purchase a five-rod wind chime here to dispel some of the energy. I must be honest that the worst possible location for a kitchen is the NW, particularly if you cook with gas. Remove all candles from this location and try to install an electric stove here. Alternatively, you can add a large urn of water, such as a fish tank, to dampen some of the excess fire energy. There are few absolutes in feng shui, but this is one, and that is: no open flames in the NW sector of the home or there could be severe losses or problems for the man of the house or the breadwinner. Or, if you’re single, there could be difficulties attracting a suitable relationship or frequent spats and disagreements with someone you are dating. The only cure I’m aware of for this is to place a large urn of water (18 X 24 inches) in the

kitchen. However, this is rather cumbersome and large vessel of water to have sitting on a cabinet or floor of your kitchen. You might try placing a spring water dispenser here or a fish tank to try and help press down the fire energy located here. Try to place it close as possible to the stove. Key feng shui kitchen questions: 1. Is there at least two feet of distance between the stove and refrigerator? If they are too close together, the refrigerator puts out the fire of the stove, creating financial difficulties. If they are next to each other, put a large wooden cutting board between them. 2. Can you see the toilets from

the kitchen? Even a view or access to a toilet from the kitchen is bad news. If this is the case in your house, paint the bathroom door red, and as always, be sure to keep it closed at all times. 3. Placement of tears? A stove placed between a refrigerator and a sink is said to cause sadness and emotions such as those from mourning. 4. Do you have islands of respite? Islands serve as a helpful feng shui feature because they are often topped with stone (which weighs down bad luck) and are situated between things, such as the stove and sink, or the stove and the refrigerator, thereby

stopping “arguments” between kitchen features. Count yourself lucky if you have one. The same is true of dining tables in the kitchen. 5. Is your refrigerator stocked? A well-stocked pantry and refrigerator are both good feng shui — and symbols of wealth. Keep both cleaned out on a regular basis. Make sure nothing is stored on the floor of the pantry. This keeps energy renewed and wealth flowing. 6. Do you support your stove? If the stove is below a window, the cook will not enjoy good support. 7. Can the stove/kitchen be seen from the front door? See FENG SHUI p9

FENG SHUI... From page 8 If you can see the stove or the kitchen from your front door, then you could be losing opportunities. Block the view of the view from the front door with a screen or a plant. 8. Do you enter through the kitchen? If so, you could struggle with your weight. If the first thing you see is your kitchen, you might have difficulties with overeating. Try to enter through another door. FENG SHUI Q&A Question: I have a kitchen where my stove is situated so that my back is to the door. I read that a cook should never have their back to the door because it can scare the cook. The recommendation was to place a mirror over the stove so you can see who comes into the kitchen. I have one there, but should I keep the mirror there? Answer: That’s a feng shui tip that’s circulated a long time and has grown mouldy. Here’s what I’d like to ask you. Have you ever been scared by someone entering the kitchen? I never have and really don’t think that’s realistic about scaring the cook. Further, the mirror is magnifying the fire energy, which is never a good idea, especially if you have a gas stove with real flames – it could be harmful. Take the mirror down, it’s only adding to much fire energy in the kitchen and that could cause arguments there or do harm to whatever the

sector its in represents. Kathryn Weber is the publisher of the Red Lotus Letter Feng Shui E-zine and certified feng shui consultant in authentic Chinese feng shui. Omar Benson in A Christmas Carol by Lucille Nolasco Charles Dickens’ beloved novel A Christmas Carol comes to life on stage November 23 to December 16, at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Just in time for the holiday season, the show is local playwright Bruce McManus’ wonderful adaptation of a classic tale of compassion, hope and redemption that the whole family will love. With a cast led by Rob Paterson as Ebenezer Scrooge, the play also features young Filipino-Canadian actor Omar Benson who plays not just one, but three different characters. In one role he is Peter Crachit, a less fortunate teen in a family whose father makes everything better, happier and as normal as possible. Another character he plays is Dick, a business apprentice with Mr. Fezziwig, who strives to succeed in life. In his third role, Omar plays a young prisoner. “I am honoured and delighted to take part and play different characters,” said Omar. “It’s a blessing to be part of this amazing and strong show. My great, great grandpa on my Dad’s side was from England so it’s nice to honour part of my heritage, besides being a Filipino.” Fifteen-year-old Omar said that one special part of his preparation to play the different

characters was to speak with a believable British accent. “It’s my first time doing a British accent so when I was asked to audition I had to speak with a British accent and make it believable. Also, Peter is my main role, but I also needed to prepare for the other different personalities.” Omar has worked in professional theater and film productions since he was six years old. This is his second production with Royal Manitoba Theater Centre (MTC), the first being A Christmas Story when he was 11. He also featured with Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Nutcracker, Rainbow Stage’ Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, and others.

A Christmas Carol, sometimes also called The Ghost of Christmas, tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an old miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. “It’s a very heart warming show and a very family-oriented show” said Omar. It really shows you how much Christmas spirit can help others bring joy. Everyone can always be happier in life. It’s very enjoyable and easy to watch. So thank you to everyone for your support!” For show times and ticket information, call the Royal MTC box office at 204-942-6537 or visit www. royalmtc.ca.

My parents’ love Rikka Mae Yambao was awarded the ANAK Liwayway Scholarship for Leadership Excellence 2017 – Honourable Mention based on her high school GPA, a group interview, and an essay based on oral history interviews she conducted. The following essay was her submission. Being in Canada for almost three years, I only learned recently that almost everyone had the same reasons for coming to this country. First, their pursuit for better career opportunities led to their immigration. Second, the idea of reuniting with their families encouraged them to come and live here. Last, like every parent there is, they wanted their children to have a brighter future than what they think our homeland could offer. As a student preparing for university, I learned that there is a wide range of careers that Canada offers such as Art Restoration and Pharmacy Technician – both

of which are quite unheard of in the Philippines. Indeed, “here in Canada… as long that you have the good skill, and the hard work, you never lose a job.”1 Furthermore, the welcoming support of the government to new immigrants seeking for jobs enticed more and more Filipinos to come to this country. Truly, “there’s a lot of opportunities that this country offers to people…We just have to know what resources there are so we can pursue what we want.”2 Strong family ties is one of the best Filipino values there is and is evident as a lot of our kababayans choose to migrate here in Canada to be reunited with their loved ones. For the case of Ray Sator, it is to reunite with his beloved Rowena: “Alam ng lahat that I only came here for her.” Love can move mountains, or in this case, continents. Am I right? For some, giving their children a better future became

their sole reason for migrating as they looked for “a place where (they) could have a simple life, good benefits for the kids, and education.”3 For the sake of their children, “even though (they) had a good life in the Philippines, (they were) enticed to come to Canada,”4 and sacrificed their life and careers back home. Through these stories, I was able to understand the decisions that my parents made as well other Filipinos’ as to why they left the homeland. It opened my mind into certain questions that I did not even bother to ask before. As new immigrants, I saw how my parents struggled to adjust within the Canadian culture especially with their new jobs. They both made a huge leap from their careers and chose to let go of everything they had in the Philippines – all for the sake of our family’s future. In the end, I could say that my parents’ love for us is what pushed and pulled my family here, to Canada. Endnotes: 1 Yambao, Angelito. “Why Canada?

TRUDEAU... From page 6 strongly resists any outsider attempts to get a clearer picture of what is going on in his war on drugs. Less than one week earlier, at the APEC summit in Vietnam, Duterte threatened to slap United Nations Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard if she investigates him for the extrajudicial killings. [That’s why I am telling Callamard, if you investigate me, I will slap your face.] New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said in several reports before hers talks with President Duterte, “Our view is that number of deaths certainly requires investigation and oversight, at the very least.” “There have been attempts by the international community, is my understanding, and I believe those have not been accepted,” she added. “But certainly it would be a concern of any country to see that level of death as a consequence of that policy.”

CRISTY...

Strengthen your faith through physical exercise by Pastor Jayson L. Igloria Last article, I introduced my friend GM Ferdinand Peralta whom I met in June of this year and he introduced to me his friend Jose Suarez in church in the last week of August. What really caught my attention about these two guys was their passion to the craft that God had given to them and the ability to touch many lives throughout the years of giving training in Arnis, Muay Thai and boxing here in Winnipeg. Jose Suarez, aka “Joe” started training students in February 1985 under Dante Alambra. He was a Sikaran 2nd Dan black belt then. Since 1998 Joe has managed the GOJO Gym on Sherbrook Street at the corner of Pacific Avenue with a few young people. He ran the very successful Gojo fitness centre until 2001. The part of his story that struck me is how he helps youngsters, giving free training. He started with three or four students who couldn’t afford the membership because their parents spent their money on drugs and alcohol. When he heard about this from the kids, Joe allowed them train for free. Because of this noble thing, these few kids grew to be hundreds, years later. Eventually Joe learned to get funding for the less fortunate kids. He is been training students for more than 30 years, including some students at the Freight House Community Centre for the past three years. The goal is to share a positive lifestyle for these kids and many champions were trained through the gym. One of his students, named Marc Luntao, has been training under Joe for the last two months and I will talk about him on my next article. No doubt, Joe is a tough guy with a heart. He has been telling me about quitting bad habits that can really helped to heal his health and spirit from his mistakes of the past. These things would not be possible for him to overcome without acknowledging God in his life. I believe, as a pastor, my duty is not only to provide spiritual healing and bring people to God through His Son Jesus Christ but also make them realize how important our body is because it is where the Holy Spirit resides. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? not your own.” As I have said, the functions of the spirit, soul and body are related to one another. A healthy “spirit” is the sound foundation for a healthy “soul.” A healthy “soul” favours a healthy “body.” It works the other way as well. It is difficult to be at our best spiritually if we are emotionally or physically sick. If we are ill in mind or body, it will affect our work and witness for God. Our relationship with God’s spirit is safe and secure, but the flow of His Spirit through our lives to the world will be limited. We have been created to function as whole persons. 3 John 2 “Dear friends, I pray that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.” This verse teaches us that physical health is related to the well being of one’s soul. In other words, a healthy soul-life is necessary for a healthy body-life. Pastor Jayson L. Igloria is a Senior Pastor of I am, Redeemer and Master Ministries, located at 187 Kilbride Avenue in Winnipeg with worship services on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and children’s Sunday school at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 431-3347286.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. Good days ang ika-21 at 22.

Libra (Sept.

Economic, family, refugees and protective persons and/or for humanitarian considerations. 330,000 for 2019 at 340,00 for 2020. Katunayan, binanggit mismo ni Immigration MinisterAhmed Husen sa news conference na ginanap sa Toronto na bringing newcomers to Canada is half of the job to sustain long-term economic growth. But on or before the 20th of December naman malamang suspended again until January 2018. Naagaw din ng mga pangyayari sa ika-50th ASEAN

Anniversary and the 31st summit na ginanap sa Maynila noong nakaraang 13 hanggang 15 of November. Ejercito, Grace Poe at Cyntia Villar. Possible candidates for senators naman daw sina Rep. Gloria M. Arroyo, Transgender Geraldina Roman, Imee Marcos at Gina Lopez.

Kasi, maliwanag daw na nasa 1987 Constitution ang separation between the Church and the State.

Winnipeg singer Paul Kelvin Ong performed to a full house at the Tec Voc High School Theatre on Saturday, November 4, 2017. The show was another one of his “Annual Concerts for a Cause” and this year it raised $8,000 for the benefit of the Winnipeg Military Family Resource Centre. The Ong family also donated a further $2000 to General Wolfe School where Paul is a resource teacher. “We Remember” was the title and theme of the evening, in commemoration of those who have sacrificed their lives in defence of Canada, as well as those serving in uniform today. “Aside from choosing a good cause each year, it is my firm belief that we should empower youth to pursue their gifts through providing them the opportunity to showcase and share their talents,” Ong told the Pilipino Express. The first half of the concert was presented in a recital format with the skilled accompaniment
