Gourmet Regional and mediterranean gourmet kitchen: a love for South Tyrol and its products. A sip of South, a taste of North | Our chef Hanspeter Humml sources all of his ingredients from just around the corner, here on the sunny side of the Alps. Apples, grapes, berries, asparagus, courgettes, fennel: chicken and cows are freely roaming in total peace. The vast variety of original products offers pretty much everything gourmets are dreaming of. The fresh ingredients are transformed into fine gastronomic goodness
with loving attention to detail. For over 10 years, the Southtyrolean chef Hanspeter Humml has been leading the culinary aspects of the Park Hotel Mignon. His signature dishes are sophisticated and of high quality. In his native, but also contemporary cooking style, side ingredients are more than just side dishes to protein: Breakfast: a large buffet, hot and cold dishes (until 11am) with local products, homemade pastries and sweets. Prices: for a minimum stay of 5 days a discount to the full daily room price of 5% applies, packages and special weeks are excluded from this discount. Discounts are not cumulative. For 3 or 4 people in a single room, discounts may be given situationally. Holidays with the family: Our little guests are being pampered just the way their parents are. It is of the utmost importance to maintain the air of relaxation, quiet and peace in our Park Hotel Mignon - therefore, out of respect to all of our guests, we ask parents to assure their children are on their best behavior. Kids in the room with parents: Children from 0 to 2 years will be charged for 25€ a day (meals excluded). Children until 6 years will be charged for 61 € a day, children between 6 and 12 for 82€, children between 12-16 for 102€ a day. A discount of 100% for children up until 12 years applies for the dates between 12.06. and 01.08. and 18.10. and 06.11.2020 in room with their parents (two guests paying full price required). Babyphone, changing station and high chairs are available.
Arrival and departures: Check-in 15.00. Rooms are to be left by 11 AM on departure day. Late check-out: subject to availability and with surcharge. Payment: cash, EC card, debit and credit cards (VISA, EURO or MASTERCARD). Please communicate your preferred payment method on arrival.
Dogs: small dogs only allowed upon request. Cleaning charge, € 30 per day (without food). Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, park, pool and spa area. Our dedicated dog park offers a parkour for your dog as well as enough room to run around and play! Cancellations: Cancellations are unpleasant for everyone. In case of cancellation we will do our best to rent out the room or apartment. Three ladies The three ladies of the Park Hotel Mignon: their names are: Sissi, Irmgard and Zenzi. Daughter, mother and grandmother, all three of them hoteliers with passion and a special sense for matters of comfort and wellness in contemporary times. Zenzi Glatt is 105 years old. She is the “grand dame” of the Mignon, the hotel that is the family operates since 1948. We call her the wellness pioneer: in the 50’s she was one of the first

to offer cleansing milk baths and steam-rooms to her clients. In the decades after the opening the Mignon continued to evolve and grow: in 2009 the Mignon became one of the first five star Hotels in South Tyrol and has held this status ever since. What persisted after all these years is the peace one finds when entering the Mignon: 10.000 square meters of retreat and relax for body and soul, right in the heart of Merano - a city of art and wellbeing with elegant boutiques, numerous
museums and full of history. In Merano, the family Glatt-Amort owns two other Hotels: the four star Hotel Adria and the Residence Desiree Classic & Design apartment house. It’s all about the family. “Our guests don’t stay at the Mignon, but with the Amorts.”, declares Sissi Amort-Ellmenreich who manages the Hotel together with her mother Irmgard. The chef of the restaurant in the Park Hotel Mignon, Hanspeter Humml is the cousin of Irmgard

Glatt-Amort. “Not to forget all our wonderful coworkers who are part of our family at the Mignon - many times they accompany us until their retirement”, declares Sissi. Managers all over the world speak of employer branding ‘employer branding’, when this sense of connectivity and happiness with the ambient of the workplace resonates with coworkers. “Our guests appreciate seeing familiar faces when they return to the Mignon, because our coworkers recognize them and vice versa.” Space is a luxury too, our guests stay here because they find peace.. only five minutes from the city centre. Our park has changed over the years: the palms, cedar trees, the old magnolia and the olive trees - they have grown and flourished over the decades, slowly but constantly. From our heated pool you can see the surrounding mountains, you are submerged in an oasis of green sheltered by the alps in a
mediterranean climate - where else in the world can you find luxury like that? “We only have 50 rooms, to make sure all of our guests have enough space to indulge in peace and quiet - on the rooftop terrace, in the saunas, next to the pool or in the park. Even if the Mignon is fully booked, sometimes you’ll have the impression that there are not too many guests here at all.”, reveals Sissi, citing the architect responsible for the latest refurbishment: ‘Anche lo spazio è lusso’ - Space is a luxury too. You’ll find luxury everywhere, from the 2000 square meter sauna area to our heated connecting indoor and outdoor pool. The large new Jacuzzi in the pool area is only two steps away from revitalizing treatments for him and her in our Beauty Center. Ceremonials, massages, aroma baths and cosmetic treatments are our specialty too. For a complete experience, a gourmet kitchen cannot be
missing: “We are emphasizing on ‘chilometro zero’ - regional ingredients from the many farms, fields and wineyards in the proximity. The Mineral Water we serve is from Merano too!”, continues Sissi. In summer you will not only find relaxation in Merano, many of our guests prefer finding their own mixture of relaxation and sports activities. “Those who prefer an active holiday can climb a 3000m summit every day, can go paragliding, rafting, canoeing, fishing or golfing”, says Sissi. Mountain Bike tours and hiking tours can be planned with the Hotel but also autonomously. “Our shuttle bus brings our guests to starting points for the many historic water channels in the region, and the guests can return home hiking on their own.” You read that correctly, return home, because many of our guests feel like we are a home for them away from home. It's all about the family, right?

The story of the Adria The story of the Adria is also the story of a young German waiter from Thuringen. In 1868 Ferdinand Lannguth came to Merano which at the time was still a sleepy little town, he found employment at one of the few hotels in the city, where he settled for three years and married the daughter of the owner. The young couple proceeded to work a the hotel and soon were able to construct a Hotel in Maia Alta in 1885. Why Maia Alta? Look around, residences, castles – villas. For years
the area of Maia Alta has been a beautiful residential area, that in the not so distant future had the Empress Sissi visit between multiple times during the years of 1870 and 1889. The Hotel Austria, how it was called at the time, did well financially and soon afterwards, a magnificent palazzo, the Villa Imperiale with 30 rooms joined the Hotel. The counts of Thurn and Taxis used to rent out for the entire summer season. In the years around 1900, tourism bloomed in Merano.
In 1914 Ferdinand Langguth added a floor to the hotel Austria bringing it to the current size: he added a lot of the aesthetic elements that still persist until today, he planned bathrooms for all the rooms, added the elevator and installed a central heating system. Shortly after the constructions were done, the first World War was unleashed and abruptly disrupted tourism in Merano. Ferdinand Langguth suffered a stroke soon afterwards, and never recovered.
“The majestic renaissance building with over 20 rooms, a bathroom and a multitude of rooms for your service. The floors have spacious balconies facing south. The interior cannot be described any different than extremely comfortable, in line with all the comforts of a modern hotel.” From the newspaper “Meraner Zeitung” about the opening of the Hotel Austria, Easter 1886.
The Hotel Austria was passed onto their children who were faced with major political challenges: after the bill of peace in Versailles, Italy expropriated the German citizens in Alto Adige. The family Langguth lost the Hotel Austria, half of the Adria fell into the hands of the Italian Government, the other half was sold to an entrepreneur from Val Gardena. This entrepreneur was Rosa Lardschneider: there are many unanswered questions on how she managed to strike a deal in the middle of this political turmoil. Lardschneider was the one who changed the name of the Hotel
Austria to its current name: Hotel Adria; historians assume this decision was taken to appeal to a wider audience. In 1933, Lardschneider decided to leave the country to continue living in Germany after the “Option” (the agreement between Hitler and Mussolini for ethnical cleansing of South Tyrol); however in the last second bought the other half of the Hotel from the Italian Government and refused to leave the country. From 1943, the Hotel Adria, like many other hotels in the area, was used as a hospital for german soldiers in the area. After the Second World War, Josef, the
son of Rosa Lardschneider who had learned business and entrepreneurship in Rome, joined the management of the Hotel. In 1968 he constructed the Villa next to the Adria, connected it to the main building of the Adria and had the first ever inside pool in Merano built in the Villa. In 1971 Josef Lardschneider died in a tragic car accident, and his widow continued leading the hotel for several years, until she decided to sell the property to the family Glatt-Amort in 1983. A sensation at the Adria: the elevator from the year 1914. In Europe, electric elevators are being used since the 19 th century; one of the relics of the time before this innovation is still accompanying guests and employees at the Adria from the ground floor upwards. For over 105 years! The Hotel Adria in Maia Alta is one of the few historic Hotels in Merano that besides necessary modernization efforts has kept its
Belle Époque style. As our guests, you have the privilege of using the old wooden elevator cabin and sit on the little bench while going up the floors. New is not always better! The doors of the elevator have to be closed manually, the elevator moans as he moves, but every ride in this historic relic is an experience. “Besides the very rustic

Before the construction was allowed to begin,the new structure had been planned in symbiose with the precedent villa, in careful analysis of the urbanistic surroundings for a harmonious symphony. All of the new, so called ‘design’ apartments are divided into living room, bathroom and bedroom. The dimensions of the apartments vary between 42 and 48 square meters. Many apartments have the ability to be connected with the next-closest other apartment, making them perfect for groups
and families of up to 8 people. All the ‘design’ apartments and parking garage are accessible from the central elevator and therefore accessible for people with limited mobility. Since september 2017 the lodging scene in Merano is enriched by the Residence ‘Désirée Classic & Design’. The effective and unique design of the ‘design’- building with its distorted-looking components offers numerous advantages like a wider field of sight from each unique apartment.

stand out from other buildings in the neighborhood, offering great sights of the surrounding mountains. The bathrooms, all equipped with windows, are filled with light and air.
Interior furnishing The core of the staircase receives light from a glazed roof, some sort of skylight. A wellness area with a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, an Ice Fall, Sensory Shower System and a relaxation room is available on the ground floor, in the internal connection between the old building and the new one. Climate House A. On the green roof, photovoltaic panels were installed for the production of electricity. The greening of the roof itself plays containment roll: the rainwater collected here can be used for rinsing the bathrooms and irrigating the garden. Moreover, an ideal solution was found for accessing the front of the Residence more comfortably:
there is now a parking area where the guest can stay and entertain themselves away from traffic.

Cancellations: Cancellations are unpleasant for everyone. In case of cancellation we will do our best to rent out the room or apartment. In case this shouldn’t be successful you will be liable for the payment of the full amount. Same rules apply for late arrivals or anticipated departure.
