ABOUT ME I am María Pía Moreira, a Fashion Designer deeply interested in working in various fashion fields, such as garments and accessories design, production and styling. During my Fashion Design education, I specialized in pattern making, dressmaking and styling. I also have hands on experience creating digital content such as prints and graphic concepts for brand/project identity. I have always been involved with the jewelry industry (both precious and non-precious metals). Having developed my own project designing handmade jewelry taught me how to choose the right materials to work with and the importance of having a rigours quality control process. With an International Studies background and 3+ years experience working at a international consulting company, I have a global view of the fashion business and underestand the added value of working in a multicultural environment. I am currently seeking to pursue a fashion position which allows me to work in an innovative and collaborative team, where open-minded individuals can exchange their approach to the creative process and contiribute with their ideas to the fashion business.

ATARGATIS is my Master´s final project in which I designed a collection of 15 women´s looks inspired by mermaids. The main idea behind the collection was to explore the dichotomy that surrounds mermaids, usually represented as sweet and curious creatures but seductive and dangerous at the same time. The mystery behind the mermaid´s personality perfectly symbolizes the presence of two sides in each human being, more specifically two sides usually associated with women. Ultimately, the collection plays with this contrast, embracing that being a delicate but powerful woman at the same time brings endless possibilities. Soft colours and transparent fabrics were used to express the naive and mysterious side of mermaids, whereas strong colours and more rigid fabrics represent the mighty and exotic essence of these creatures.

I tried to portray these men who try to keep us safe and sound by avoiding the movement of the ocean as men who can protect another human being throughout the confusion and uncertainty of life.
