Inspiration at work Innovation is not always about being first, it is also about making things better. And without innovation, we stagnate. Therefore, innovation is one of the key success factors for the long-term development of the Pipelife Group and one of our main priorities. The aim is to focus on technological leadership and continuous innovation, to further anchor it in the company’s processes and to strengthen, systematize and coordinate our innovation management. In order to execute the product and process ideas generated via our various programs, the services of our Corporate Research & Development Department, located in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands, are used group wide. The predecessor of our current R&D center has already been established long before the foundation of Pipelife, namely in the 1960s, with four people working mainly on pipes, hand-made fittings and related connection possibilities and at the same time also on developing the machinery for production.

Today, our R&D division is fully integrated within the corporate product management and marketing department. The aim is clear: efficient, effective and quick implementation of market trends. With rapid prototyping, CAD drawing, FEM (finite element method) calculation models, 3D printing and many other valuable techniques, we ensure that generated ideas only take a short time from the drawing boards to the stockyards of our customers, including the definition of marketing strategies, promotional activities and unified branding. All to meet the customer demands of tomorrow. The direction we are following pays off, as on average more than 20% of the total revenue of the Pipelife Group originates from newly launched products in various markets. This proves that our strategic focus on innovation will further pave our way towards a successful future.

Reliability at its best Proper and reliable discharge of waste water is an absolute necessity. Human waste contains harmful bacteria and suspended solids and chemicals. In these times, modern and efficient sewage treatment is something that most people take for granted. But to ensure the safe transportation of waste as well as rain water and the protection of the environment, strong, secure, reliable and tight pipe systems are imperative. We in Pipelife understand the importance of quality, are well aware of this big responsibility and offer an extensive high quality range of efficient possibilities: several gravity pipe systems or pressurized solutions including fittings and a wide range of accessories, designed to meet the requirements of municipal sewage. In Northern Europe we are proud of having a unique market position by being able to offer a 1,400mm PragmaÂŽ double wall corrugated pipe. Our wide range of chambers and our PRO manhole series complete our product offer in the area of sewer and rainwater discharge. And to ensure a correct and secure installation, we provide design and calculation services and programs, like our Manhole Static Calculator.

Warmth and security Buildings reflect our culture in a variety of shapes, sizes and functions and host a fascinating world of mostly hidden, yet vital pipe networks to service the needs of the families living in there. Our main focus here is to provide comprehensive solutions for the safe and reliable flow and evacuation of water inside buildings, covering products for sanitary, heating, hot & cold water and waste water discharge. Through close personal customer contacts on all levels we know what our customers want. To meet the broad range of their requirements in the area of heating and cooling, we offer various systems and solutions, ranging from conventional radiator heating and modern underfloor heating systems to sophisticated wall and ceiling heating as well as cooling panels, which are especially suitable for renovation works. We manufacture all major types of hot & cold plastic pipes (single or multilayer) alongside a broad range of fittings and accessories. In the area of domestic waste water discharge, a choice of different pipe materials ensures that builders, owners and occupants benefit from the various options, ranging from conventional installations to premium systems and sound absorbing solutions. To enhance the use of alternative energy, various geothermal solutions are part of our product range which form the ideal complement to our surface heating and cooling portfolio. Pipelife means more to builders than just a product catalogue. In practice, we also assist our customers in designing and planning their waste water discharge, heating and sanitary systems to ensure the optimal and most efficient installation for them.

Whatever the weather Stormy weather, drought and flash flooding: our lives are seemingly dominated by the effects of climate change. Doing nothing is not an option. That is why our intelligent water management solution called Raineo® does not only prevent flooding and water pollution but can also function as water storage. The stored, filtered and purified water can then be used for sanitary purposes or irrigation. Whichever way it is applied, Raineo® takes care of our valuable resource water for decades. With our environmentally friendly technological developments, like our Eco Systems range, we respond to the growing demand for environmentally friendly products aimed to protect our planet’s resources. With the introduction of a product program designed to reduce water pollution, we are taking these requirements into account. Our range includes, among others, high-quality oil and grease separators, heavy metal filters, waste water treatment plants, PRO pumping stations and our Stormbox. To enhance the use of renewable energy, we offer a broad range of geothermal solutions. With our vertical ground collectors, horizontal systems, baskets or spiral loops, we can provide the most suitable solution for any given circumstances. Our air exchange and ventilation solution, called Airtherm, completes this range.

Flow control of land and fields The cultivation of animals, plants and additional life forms for food and other products is essential to sustain and enhance human life. We seek to create value for our customers and are aware that sustainable agriculture and horticulture require a combination of responsible strategies. Wherever plants grow, water is the vital element that enables their survival. We take into account all the possible circumstances such as climate, temperature and the amounts of water required, and offer a wide variety of irrigation systems, including sprinklers and drippers, for numerous purposes such as watering gardens, parks, sports fields or large agricultural areas. To avoid water saturation due to an insufficient absorption capacity of the soil or a high salinity level of the land, the widespread use of our drain pipes, fittings and accessories becomes inevitable. Our drainage systems - produced from different materials - support the discharge of water and allow ventilation of the roots and the regeneration of the soil. They are heavily used in agricultural areas, but also in other installations such as sport courts, gardens, park areas, roads, highways, railways or aerodromes.

Big is beautiful We are the proud world leader for many years in the expertise and know-how of continuously producing and installing LLLD (long length, large diameter) HDPE pipes. Our pipes are mainly used for marine applications and are available in various pressure classes and diameters, since 2012 even up to 2.5 meters. But we know, we can go even bigger and are ready to face according customer demands. Extruding these pipes directly into the sea at our plant in Stathelle, Norway, gives us high flexibility, not only with regard to the diameter, but also with respect to the length of the pipes. In this way, we can fulfill almost all the needs of our customers. The usual length of these pipes is around 400 to 600 meters, but our longest single pipe has been shipped with a length of 967 meters and in a diameter of 1,400mm to a sewer outfall project in the UK. Impressive, but secure transportation: the longest distance that our pipes have ever travelled was from our plant in Norway across the Atlantic Ocean to Montevideo in Uruguay. This unique consignment of 3,850 meters of two meter diameter LLLD pipe has sailed undamaged 10,900 kilometers to its point of destination.

Strong, safe and secure Especially in the 1990s, millions of barrels of oil were spilt every year, mainly due to pipe corrosion. The consequences of these incidents are still evident today. Protecting the liquid in our piping systems is highly important, but even more important is the conservation of the environment around our pipe installation. Our business unit Soluforce® has been established to offer a wide range of noncorrosive Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe (RTP) systems for the transportation of various types of water, oil, gas and hydrocarbon contents. Soluforce® pipes are available in various pressure classes and are used and certified by many major oil and gas companies throughout the world. All our Soluforce® pipes are suitable for use in both onshore as well as offshore applications, which makes our piping system the perfect solution for most installations in this field.

“Our wonderful partnership with Pipelife started in 2013 when the company supported our project to build energy-efficient homes for low-income families in Bulgaria, followed by Romania and Poland in 2014. We are grateful for this help that included not only the donation of piping systems but also professional expertise to support our staff and volunteers on the construction site. I’d like to thank the people of Pipelife for their dedication to supporting our projects. These examples show us how partnerships between non-profits and corporations can change the lives of people in need of simple and decent homes.” Heather Alner Associate Director for Corporate Engagement Habitat for Humanity Europe, Middle East and Africa

“We are much indebted to our long-time partner Pipelife for having supported the Austrian Red Cross for the last eight years. Our impactful humanitarian cooperation started with a water and health project in East Timor and, for the last couple of years, continued with a variety of projects in 27 countries around the world. Pipelife’s ongoing support has enabled us to live up to our mission: improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity.” Dr. Werner Kerschbaum Secretary General, Austrian Red Cross

Acting today for a better tomorrow Our planet has been formed billions of years ago but if we are not careful, humanity may well be on the way to destroying it within a few decades. The clock is ticking. It is about time that we all start taking responsibility for our actions to preserve and protect the wonderful planet upon which we live. We in Pipelife do so! We believe in reliability and trust, are living the best values and for many years now, we have committed ourselves to sustainability, which plays an important aspect in our daily business, our production processes and the products and services we offer. Careful use of raw materials, the reduction of energy and water consumption, lowering our emissions and waste, as well as continuously increasing our levels of recycling are only a few examples of the broad range of targets we dedicate ourselves to. Our green creed has become our green deed. An associated ethic is our desire to exercise Corporate Social Responsibility throughout our worldwide business operations. We take responsibility for the impact of our activities not only on the environment, but also on consumers, employees, and all other stakeholders within the public sphere. Performance with a clear conscience, the protection of human rights and compliance with all relevant national and international legal regulations, as well as open and transparent communication with public authorities, also represent an integral part of our commitment to social responsibility. We live a culture of partnership. But not only with our business partners. Several years of cooperation with the Red Cross on various projects worldwide and since 2013 also with Habitat for Humanity underline our engagement to give something back to society and have made us a respected partner in this field.
