Performing Arts Programme Spring/Summer 2022
1
Introduction What an absolute joy it was to see our Arts Centre come alive again last term as we welcomed back audiences, and the programme of Performing Arts on offer for the Spring and Summer Terms looks set to provide equal delight. The opportunities Performing Arts affords our students extend beyond the stage, as they gain skills and selfconfidence which they will take through the entirety of their school life and beyond. I hope that you enjoy watching the variety of talent being showcased here at Pipers as much as I will.

Mental Health Awareness with Dick Moore
Wednesday 11 May Arts Centre | 1900-2030 hours All parents welcome Dick visited us in May last year to talk to our Senior students about Mental Health. He has been visiting schools, universities, and organisations to help raise awareness of mental health issues since November 2012. Previously he was an English teacher, rugby coach, boarding school housemaster and, for over twenty years, the Headmaster of a co-educational day and boarding school. Circumstances led him to develop a passionate interest in adolescent development and emotional wellbeing. He qualified as a Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor in 2012 and joined the Charlie Waller Trust. He has also attended an ASIST Suicide Intervention course. Did you know that 10% of young people are suffering from a diagnosable mental health disorder today? Not only does this mean that a vast number of young people are unhappy, but also that they are underperforming at school, college and in the early stages of their careers. The consequences for families, schools and employers are dire. Yet mental health remains a largely hidden epidemic. There is SO much more that could be done that SHOULD be done.
