Personal Statement I had learned two courses in the 6th semester in my college years, namely Urban Green Space Planning and Design and Urban and Rural Landscape Strategy. After that, I began to be interested in Urban Design. Especially when learning Urban and Rural Landscape Strategy, I found that under the influence of the environment or man-made and unconscious destruction, many cultural landscapes in my hometown are disappearing. As The Death and Life of Great American Cities puts it: One centur y’s building commonplace is another century’s useful aberration. The meaning of protecting cultural landscape is beyond scratching the surface. I am wild about to re-activation cultural landscape and arouse people’s freshness about the truth of the cultural landscape, thus deepening people’s understanding of the cultural landscape. Studying Urban Design will broaden my eyes in my career, not only in spatial scale but also in the time dimension. Design is a process of continuous learning and improvement. I am glad that I can continue to improve my knowledge of things through learning, while achieving design results.

02 “Pomelo”Community Since ancient times, migrating Hakka settlements and foreign cultures have complemented each other and evolved with the development of the city-state. From the Three Kingdoms to the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the people of the Central Plains formed a southward migration to escape the war, and this was the beginning of Hakka culture. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, the northern Xiongnu invaded and the Hakka settlements moved further south. The Chinese culture brought by the Song Dynasty did not bring impact to the Hakka distance settlements, but blended well together, forming a Hakka culture with unique architecture and customs. The Hakka culture has continued to be preserved in subsequent migrations and has even been brought overseas with the migrations. However, the recent modern development has brought great impact to Hakka culture, and under the influence of urbanization, the Hakka distance characteristic - Weilong House is decreasing. After investigation and research, the settlement form of Weilong House can strengthen the interaction between people. Taking this opportunity, this design hopes to explore a brand new community where ecology, life and residence are mutually circulating and sustainable, and interacting benignly.

02 Danjia 's Settlement Spatial Remodeling of Shatian Settlement in Hai-O Island, Guangzhou Based on a review of domestic and international research, this design takes the creation of cultural landscape in the Shatian settlement as an entr y point to solve the problem. From the historical evolution of the settlement, the basic characteristics, the settlement pattern, to the study of the characteristics of the riverbank and the intangible cultural preser vation, the characteristics of the Shatian settlement and the existing problems are analyzed, so that the riverbank in the Shatian settlement can play its own value in the context of m o d e r n s o c i e t y a n d a c h i e v e a d a p t i v e d e v e l o p m e n t .

Sha Bei Market is the largest vegetable market on Hai-O Island, where other villagers come to buy every weekend.
Lack of activities
The Maoliao can be used for us to raise ducks or put some miscellaneous things, and it is part of our life. When we demolish it and change it around, it doesn't look like our own home anymore.
Traffic congestion The Maoliao was torn down to fix the river chute. The Maoliao was used to raise ducks and polluted the river, so the government asked that no buildings be erected within 6 meters, and later someone would come to erect the characteristic buildings.
Villagers of ShaBei Village
Weekends are also the days when students from outside the island go home, creating traffic congestion.
C h i l d re n a n d e l e m e n t a r y school students in the village have fewer daily activities and usually prefer to play with their cell phones at home.
Secretary Guo of ShaBei Village River pollution
During the research, we found that the villagers and the government have opposing views on the retention or departure of Maoliao.
Historical Evolution
Abandoned Dan's boat Since river transportation is no longer needed, a large number of boats are abandoned on the shore and parked at random.
Some Mailiao have been converted into huts for raising ducks, and the manure is discharged directly into the river, causing pollution.

Settlement pattern "Fishbone" alleyway The alleyways on land are built perpendicular to the river and can balance the residents' access to water. Therefore, the overall spatial pattern is "fishbone", the river and the main road is the "ridge", the alleyway is like a fishbone to spread outward.
Transport
"Water - Residence - Field" pattern The alleyways perpendicular to the main trunk connect the water system, the settlement and the farmland, and also connect the spaces of two different scale systems: human residence and farmland. The landscape pattern of "water - residence - field" is presented.

The Wisdom of Drainage - Polluted River Surge The alleyway perpendicular to the river has a drainage function, road surface water and domestic sewage can be discharged to the river with the alleyway, the villagers can not consider the drainage problem. With the increase in population and the invention of various cleaning agents, the ability to clean the river surges is limited. This originally convenient initiative became a source of pollution in the river gorge

Riverbank Wedding
The main performance is to use the boat to come and go repeatedly. At the time of marriage, the man will take a specific boat with gifts to pick up the woman to the man's family to worship heaven and earth, and then return to the mother's family for half a day after two days, called "back to the door". After paying respects to the man's family, eight days later, the woman's family will go to the man's family to return the gift, called "Hoho".

According to the villagers' recollection, there are still many brides picked up by boats in the previous generation. Nowadays, they are rarely picked up by boat, but usually drive around the island.
Bridge
Bridge location Arch Bridge
Divided into arch bridges and flat bridges, the bridges used to be made into arches to facilitate the passage of ships. After the opening of the land route, the flat and straight bridges were more convenient for land transportation. Today, two arched and flat bridges still remain parallel in the center of Sabei Village, one for pedestrians and one for vehicles. Some of the space under the bridge has become a resting space for villagers.

Reimagining the Space in Between YUEXIU DISTRICT-GUANGZHOU-GUANGDONG-CHINA
1. Dongshan department store
Dongshankou is a neighborhood with a long history and cultural value, and its buildings rich in the characteristics of the Republic of China period attract a large number of tourists to come. Currently, Guangzhou will create a cultural ip in Dongshankou, but the original Dongshankou neighborhood used for housing cannot meet the demand of serving tourists. How to create a public space in a small space becomes a challenging topic. In order to cope with the site problems, this design solves the conflicts between people and cars, visitors and residents in the site through zoning planning and tidal street design at the planning level. At the design level, the needs of visitors in the site are solved through modular design. The vertical space formed by these modules not only brings new public space to visitors, but also forms the site identity and brings a new landscape look to the site.

Transport Four modules ser ving the traffic function were generated during the experiment.
Due to the limited public space of the site, the modular design is made according to the ergonomic scale. There are three forms of modules from open to private. Open modules are designed to prevent crowding, framed modules lay the foundation for the vertical public space that follows, and private spaces provide quiet places for specific spaces.

Three forms of construction on the site Available facade
Formal possibilities of the module on the site Alleyway
In principle, the facade of buildings with historical significance is protected, so the buildings on the site are divided into three types.
1.Historic buildings
Street 2. Historic buildings on the ground floor that have been renovated
Tidal Mode 3. Modern high-rise buildings
Classification System In order to explore the adaptability of the design module to these three types of buildings at different spatial scales, I combined these three types of buildings into five forms, and then put these five forms into the three systems of "alley, street and square". In the previous plan, the tidal street was located under the "street" scale system, so a new tidal pattern was added to the "street" system.
Logic of module distribution Alley scale: To prevent a sense of congestion, the modules within the alley are basically only available in linear patterns of 2 and 3 blocks. Street scale: Enclosed forms of 3 and more blocks can exist, and the modules can extend to the façade of modern high-rise buildings and even reach the roof of the building across the street. In tidal mode, the modules are at the edge of the driveway to protect pedestrian traffic. Smaller plazas: Large functional modules can be placed in combination, which can extend to the façade of modern high-rise buildings, and the middle part is supported by the "columns" formed by the modules themselves, forming an "m" shaped arch. All the above three models follow the principle of preserving the historical building facades.

The impact of this mega-epidemic has led to problems such as crowded medical resources, lack of food resources, soil and water, and air pollution. To prevent further contagion, many cities are restricting people from going outside. However, open spaces are beneficial to residents physically and mentally. How public spaces respond to the impact of the epidemic era becomes a topic worth exploring.

S o i l a n d w a t e r, a i r pollution
The amount of medical waste increased by 928 tons in 35 days, and the incineration and landfilling of this medical waste caused pollution of the soil and air.
There are many people walking in the square. The lack of a sound hierarchical treatment system has led to a large number of patients flocking to fever clinics in large hospitals, leading to frequent cross-infection among patients, families and other people, further exacerbating the crowding of medical resources.
Daily production of masks:20 million
Daily production of protective clothing: 9,000
Daily demand for masks: 700 million
Daily demand f o r p ro t e c t i v e clothing: 59,000
Medical supplies are scarce, and the storage and production of masks, protective clothing and other medical supplies are far from being able to keep up with the dramatic surge in demand.
Empty square after the outbreak.
Food sources
People buying food in the lively street.
The streets were deserted and cold, and people get food through transportation by staff.
The water contaminated by the patient allowed the virus to enter the river.

New medical sites
New medical sites
The macro planning of this design is divided into three points:
1. Establishing new medical points: In areas not covered by medical services in Wuchang District, new medical points will be added with a 1km service radius to cope with the sudden surge in the number of medical visits and to alleviate the crowding of medical resources.
Wuchang District
2. Busy area planning: In the area where the radius of medical services overlaps with the radius of metro services, it belongs to the busy zone and requires phased planning for different types of public space.
New medical sites Service Radius: 1km
3. UAV sites planning: In the average most congested roadway within 24 hours, medical supplies, etc. are more difficult to deliver, so UAV-assisted transportation is needed.
