Why learn to surf with us?
Situated in the heart of St.Ives, and just a stone’s throw from the iconic Tate Gallery, our friendly and experienced team offer a variety of surfing courses; for absolute beginners, improvers or advanced surfers. We also offer great discounts for large groups, families, hen and stag do’s, team building and birthday parties. In all of our surfing lessons equipment is included free of charge and we provide onsite secure changing facilities, male/female toilets and a shower.
Which Lesson is
Right for You ?
Beginner (2 hours) The beginner lesson is aimed at total newcomers to surfing. Once you’ve been kitted out with all your gear you’ll learn everything you need to know about beach safety, paddling techniques, how to catch waves and finally the fundamentals of getting to your feet on the board. By the end of your lesson you will be wondering why you didn’t start sooner. Improvers (2hours) So you’ve had a few lessons, caught the surfing bug and are looking to further develop your skills? The improver lesson covers aspects of surfing such as turning your board, gaining speed, duck diving and catching unbroken waves. We also offer a variety of boards to suit the needs of the improving surfer. Advanced Heading the advanced coaching team this year is one of Europe’s best competitive surfers and Billabong team rider Lyndon Wake, along with 2010 English Champion, Jayce Robinson. Lyndon and Jayce combine their expert knowledge and experience with video analysis and fitness training to ensure every advanced surfer is reaching their full potential, whether that be free surfing or in the competitive arena. Swellboard shootout 2013
Our annual swellboard fancy dress competition returns with more entries and costumes than ever before.
surf.beach.eat With our Australian Chef Cameron Jennings at the helm, our breakfasts are renowned in St Ives and our tapas menu has an acclaimed reputation, with delicious dishes including clams with chorizo and octopus, white bean puree, capers. Coffee is provided by our friends at Origin, Cornwall’s independent coffee merchants. All coffee is made using delicious organic milk. All produce is sourced locally wherever possible. We also have a full drinks license so come and sip champagne on our terrace and watch the sun go down. In the unlucky event of a chilly sea breeze, we also have warm blankets to snuggle up in. Looking for calmer waters? We are delighted to now provide Stand up Paddleboarding and kayak courses here in St Ives at our watersports centre on Porthminster beach. Stand up paddleboarding or SUP, as it is best known is the fastest growing watersport in the world. We are one of only a handful of Surf schools in Cornwall to teach stand up paddleboarding. We have also added Sea kayaking to our activities here at the surf school. Whether you would like to hire or take one of our guided tours, sea Kayaking is a great way to explore the beautiful Cornish coastline and take in all the joys that the ocean has to offer! Our kayaks are sit on top kayaks and we have twin or singles available for you to choose from.
