— SINGLE-COMPONENT ADHESIVE-BASED ACRYLIC DISPERSION FOR BONDING VAPOR-RETARDING SHEETS —
Prime Vapor is a high-performance, single-component adhesive specifically designed for use in bonding vapor-retarding sheets. Prime Vapor provides a permanent, wind-proof bonding of joints, connections, and butt-joint overlaps of vapor barriers, vapor retarders, and sealing sheets used in dry construction. Prime Vapor ensures rapid functional stability to bonded sheets on substrates such as stone, wood, plaster, concrete, and various other material. Given appropriate loop formation of the sheets to be bonded, it can be used for joints and connections in new construction and renovation projects without using clamping bars. It can also be used for permanent and aging-resistant bonding of diffusion-resistant and diffusion-permeable sealing tapes in window and door installations. Like all products from Adhere America, Prime Vapor is a “Best in Class Problem Solver.”

✧ Prime Vapor gives rapid functional stability of bonded sheets on substrates such as stone, wood, plaster, concrete, and various other materials and—given appropriate loop formation of the sheets to be bonded—can be used for joints and connections in new building and renovation projects without using clamping bars. It can also be used for permanent and aging-resistant bonding of diffusionresistant and diffusion-permeable sealing tapes in window and door installations.
CAUTION: Prime Vapor must not be used in the sanitary sector, on marble or natural stone, in underground applications, on bituminous substrates, nor in joints in constant contact with moisture, e.g. concrete surfaces in contact with the soil.
Yield
One 10.5 ounce tube (310 ml) of Prime Vapor is sufficient for completing about 23 feet (7 meters) when applying a .3 inch (8 mm) bead of adhesive.
Colors & Packaging
Prime Vapor comes in on one standard color, blue. It is available in 10.5 ounce (310 mm) cartridges, packed in cases of 20 tubes. Other sizes of packaging are available on a special order basis.
Application Information
SUBSTRATE PRETREATMENT: The adhesive is applied as a bead with about a .3 inch (8 mm) diameter on the construction material or on the vapor barrier or vapor retarder itself. Both surfaces must be dry and free of dust and grease. The adhesive can also be used on absorbent, slightly-moist substrates. Less load-bearing substrates (such as porous concrete or gypsum board) should be pre-treated with a suitable primer. Subsequently, the sheet is attached to the construction material and fixed by slight pressing.
CLEANING: Fresh adhesive can be removed with a damp cloth. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Cured adhesive must be removed mechanically. Remaining residues can be softened with isopropanol and wiped off some time later.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Prime Vapor must be protected from leaching, e.g. by condensed moisture or rainwater, until a solid skin has formed. Fresh product may be removed with a damp cloth. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Cured product must be removed mechanically. Remaining residues may be softened with water and then wiped off.
If applied outdoors, the joint must be protected from driving rain and constant exposure to moisture. Prime Vapor cures by means of desiccation. High humidity, low temperature and joint depth above 15 mm can delay skin formation and curing significantly. During drying, the color will slightly change.
Prime Vapor is compatible with most paint systems. Owing to the large number of different coating systems on the market, we nevertheless recommend own tests concerning compatibility and adhesion prior to application.
Joints subject to expansion must not be over-painted, since most paint systems will crack due to their lower elasticity (compared to the sealant). If joints with low movement are over-painted, Prime Vapor must be allowed to dry for at least seven days.
The function of the product can only be guaranteed if correctly applied in accordance with the technical recommendations given in this data sheet and in related standards. Sealant application in situations with strongly fluctuating temperatures (premature stressing of the sealant) should be avoided.
Technical Data (Metric)
Rate of curing depends on temperature, humidity and substrate absorbency. The data given refer to tests at standard conditions (23°C / 50% rel. humidity). Under these conditions, a 10 x 10 mm joint will cure in approximately 14 days (with at least one substrate being absorbent). Low temperature, high humidity and joint depth above 15 mm will retard skin formation and curing significantly.
Data given were determined shortly after production, and may slightly vary with increasing age of product and for different colors. They are not meant for specifications purposes.
For safety data, see Safety Data Sheet. Take all preventive measures specified in the Safety Data Sheet and in the hazard markings to prevent accidents and protect health.
