Technical Data Sheet – PRIME ADHERE – Revised 19 February 2023

YIELD

One 10.5 ounce tube (310 ml) of Prime Adhere is sufficient for completing about 31.5 feet (9.6 meters) of joints measuring 1⁄4" × 1⁄4" (6.25 mm x 6.25 mm) or about 7 1⁄2 feet (2.25 meters) of joints measuring 1⁄2" × 1⁄2" (12.7 mm × 12.7 mm).

COLORS & PACKAGING

Prime Adhere comes in three colors: Clear, White and Black. Prime Adhere is available in 10.5 ounce (310 ml) cartridges, packed in cases of 20 tubes. Other sizes of packaging are available by request on a special order basis.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

SUBSTRATE PRETREATMENT: The substrate must be firm and free of dust and grease. Before applying Prime Adhere, remove all cement slurry, mold release agents and impregnations. In renovation projects, old sealants and remains of paint and loose material must be fully removed. The joint must always be provided with a suitable, correctly dimensioned joint backing, such as, for example, PE cord or PE sheeting, to prevent adhesion on three faces. To avoid contamination and to achieve a precise joint, we recommend masking the joint edges with adhesive tape before applying a primer and filling the joint with Prime Adhere.

JOINT DIMENSIONS: For joint widths of a minimum of .2" (5 mm), a square cross-section is advised. For wider joints (up to 1.5" [38 mm] maximum), the ideal joint depth should be equal to half the joint width in accordance with DIN 18540, Sheet 3. Make sure that triangular bevels have uniform sides of equal length with at least 1⁄4" (7 mm) of bonding surface.

SMOOTHING: After applying Prime Adhere with a suitable hand-operated, battery-powered or pneumatic caulking gun, Prime Adhere can be smoothed in the joint with water or with a neutral, non-staining water-based smoothing agent and a suitable tool (e.g. a jointing trowel). Any adhesive tape used can be removed immediately after smoothing.

CLEANING: Fresh adhesive can be removed with a damp cloth. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Cured adhesive must be removed mechanically. Remaining residues can be softened with isopropanol and wiped off some time later.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Clean tools with solvent immediately after use. Cured Prime Adhere must be removed mechanically. Remaining residues can be softened with solvent and wiped off some time later. The product cures by means of drying. High humidity, low temperature and joint depth above 9⁄16" (15 mm) can delay skin formation and curing significantly. During drying, the color will slightly change.

This product is compatible with most paint systems. Owing to the large number of different coating systems on the market, we nevertheless recommend that you conduct your own tests

Technical Data Sheet – PRIME ADHERE – Revised 19 February 2023

concerning compatibility and adhesion prior to application. Joints subject to expansion must not be painted over, since most paint systems will crack due to their lower elasticity when compared to Prime Adhere. If joints with low movement are painted over, Prime Adhere must be allowed to dry for at least seven days before the paint is applied.

The function of the product can only be guaranteed if correctly applied in accordance with the technical recommendations given in this data sheet and related standards. Application in situations with strongly fluctuating temperatures that may cause premature stressing should be avoided.

Shelf life (originally closed packaging) 24 months (stored at +5o C to +35o C)

Rate of curing depends on temperature, humidity and substrate absorbency. The data given refer to tests at standard conditions (73° F [23° C] / 50 percent relative humidity). Low temperature, high humidity and joint depth above 9⁄16" (15 mm) will retard skin formation and curing significantly.

Data given were determined shortly after production, and may slightly vary with increasing age of product and for different colors. They are not meant for specification purposes.

For safety data, see Safety Data Sheet. Take all preventive measures specified in the Safety Data Sheet and in the hazard markings to prevent accidents and protect health.

Information provided in this data sheet is based on the current state of knowledge. This does not exempt purchasers from carrying out their own careful inspections of incoming goods in individual cases. We reserve the right to make changes to the product data in the course of technical progress or due to operationally-related further development. Owing to factors beyond our control during application, recommendations given in this data sheet require tests and experiments by customers. Our recommendations do not exempt customers from the obligation to check any infringements of third-party rights themselves and eliminate them if necessary. COMPARE THE BEST WITH THE BEST (GO AHEAD, WE DARE YOU!)

With its many matchless performance characteristics, Prime Adhere compares favorably with the most popular sealants on the market, each one of them frequently used in one or more similar applications as Prime Adhere. Indeed, in important ways it outperforms them.

Don’t believe it? Here’s proof.

If you click on the link below, you will be taken to a Comparison Chart pitting Prime Adhere against eight of the most popular sealants on the market, all well known, all top sellers in their own right.

We’ve lined those eight sealants up side by side with Prime Adhere with their physical and performance characteristics detailed line by line—63 lines in all. See for yourself. You’ll be amazed.

Three Good Reasons Why Roofers Love Using PRIME ADHERE™

1. SEAL IT ONCE AND FORGET IT. Ta ke Prime Adhere, use it to seal your roof, siding or gutter job and then relax. Your task is finished. The seal will last. The bond will not break. The flexibility will not be lost. You needn’t worry any further. Enjoy peace of mind, secure in the knowledge the job’s well done.

2. IT’S RAINING OUTSIDE, YOU SAY? NO PROBLEM. Prime Adhere sticks to damp and oily surfaces where other sealants fail. You can apply it when it’s raining and it still seals the job. You no longer have to depend on sealants that can be applied only when the weather decides to cooperate. Fair weather or foul, Prime Adhere does the job.

3.WORRIES ABOUT TEMPERATURE CHANGES ARE A THING OF THE PAST. Prime Adhere is specially designed for use in demanding applications where movement and temperature are major factors. As you know all too well, metal roofs expand and contract as temperatures rise and fall. Sooner or later, lesser sealants fail when faced with such conditions, but not Prime Adhere. Prime Adhere never loses its flexibility or its ability to heal itself. It stretches with the heat, contracts with the cold, and always heals itself, keeping your seal intact.

Give Prime Adhere a try. You’ll be glad you did.
