Captain’s Notes

THE CAPTAIN JOSH FALKINGHAM

TONIGHT IS ANOTHER TOUGH FIXTURE with Cheltenham Town making the trip up to The EnviroVent Stadium. They’ve been up at the right end of the table all season and we saw how they played against Manchester City in the FA Cup, they were really impressive. We know how hard it’s going to be to get the three points but we hope to put in a strong collective performance and continue the good little run that we’re on at the minute.

Our performances have been getting better week by week, and when we do start performing how we want to, results will come like they have done. The wins are vital but it’s great to see the performance levels at a really good standard as well. Everybody is really pleased and we’re just looking to build on that. Throughout the season, we’ve tried not to put ourselves under too much pressure. We know what it takes to win games in this league and we’ve never been too far away when we haven’t picked up the three points. It’s about believing in getting results. Back to back wins is something I’ve mentioned before and it can make a big difference in moving up the table. The win at Crawley last time out was a really good performance, particularly in the first half. We’ve had some good displays and Crawley were a side who had beaten Leeds United in the FA Cup, a game I watched with great interest. They have really great individuals who caused Premier League players problems, so to get the three points on the road was a great feeling. I’ve said before how getting that first goal can help so much with confidence, and the first half especially, was a really solid team performance and it showed.

Part of those improved performances have been down to the January arrivals. It’s given us a huge lift in training and in games and the new lads have all done a great job. When they put the performances in like they have recently, it helps everybody and helps us get those cruscial wins. Long may that continue.
