delves into the archives to take a look at memorable Town matches from the past... Season 1987/88 Northern Premier League Division One

Here we see a Harrogate Advertiser report of the FA Cup Third qualifying round replay on 14 October 1987 between Harrogate Town and famous FA Amateur Cup (holders 10 times) and Northern League side Bishop Auckland. This was the first time Town had reached this far in the competition in their history and were disappointed to go out 2-0 in the replay at ‘Kingsway’ before a crowd of 672 after a 1-1 draw at Wetherby Road with a John Dembickjy goal in front of 705 fans. Town had beaten Esh Winning, Willington and Clitheroe en route. The ‘Bishops’ went on to beat Guisborough in fourth qualifying round but lost 4-1 to Blackpool at home in the First round proper.
