Inmarsatannounced today that its transformativenew range of service plans for its Jet ConneX inflightbroadband solution will be supported by Satcom Direct’s Plane Simple® Ka-band terminal.Building on the long-standing commercialrelationshipwith Inmarsat,SD will act as both as a distributionpartner for the airtimeand developer of the advanced tail-mountterminal

The terminal will be compatiblewith brand new Jet ConneX service plans that were launched yesterday as part of Inmarsat’sJX Evolutionprogramme. Availableto order now, the new plans include high-end packages that exclusively use next-generation Jet ConneX terminals, such as SD’s Plane SimpleKa-band antenna system, and deliver the fastest-ever speeds by the service.

These will enable passengers to simultaneouslyconnect more devices and enjoy unchallenged access to the mostdata-hungry applications, including high-definition video conferencing, without compromisingon the service’s proven characteristicsof consistency, reliability, resilience and seamless global availability.

Ongoing flight tests of the SD Plane SimpleKa-band antenna onboard the SD Gulfstream G550 aircraftare exceeding expectations. Conducted under an aircraftspecific supplemental type certificate, the trialsare successfullyvalidatingthe advanced hardware’s compatibilitywith Jet ConneX, which is powered by Inmarsat’s global Ka-band satellitenetwork.

Data collected will enable performance optimisationbefore type approval, which is anticipated in Q3 2023.
