Planning The Gandhi Memorial International School in the Kemayoran District was designed to house 2000 students. The design included facilities such as labs, a library, a multifunction gymnasium, swimming pool, football field and an auditorium for 1000 people complete with back of house facilities. The building itself is shaped as a crescent to reduce the beam of sunlight of the eastern and western sun, fins were used to aid in diffusing the rays from the overhead sun. The treatment of patterned glass windows was used as well for the windows to diffuse light when entering into the classroom, getting rid of glare and creating a comfortable environment. The building consists of classrooms in a single corridor system arranged around voids. The voids allow good air circulation and light to enter from the skylight which runs along the roof of the building in crescent shape. The voids also provide the students with a strong visual connection to other students in the building, creating a sense of community whilst also providing supervisors with easy surveillance.

19.

The gymnasium also uses a retractable seating system, so that you can increase or decrease the amount of hall space as needed for different events.

There were many multifunctional aspects added to the building, including the rubber underlay turf on the ground floors where students might play within the indoors under the natural light provided by the skylight.

Planning IBIS Cirebon is the second project by our clients the AMD group. This project took place in parallel with planning and construction of their first hotel project. Thus PJD was involved in creating a concept for the AMD group to tie all their hotels together, creating a personal brand in union with that of their chosen hotel operator. PJD worked hand in hand with the AMD group to establish their standards, a total of 12 different building designs were created to aid the study. Planning was fundamental to this project.

23.

Architecture AMD group is owned by a few shareholders, the brand image was built upon the existing companies that these shareholders individually owned. PJD combined the AMD colours to the facade of the building through a pattern of fractals. The fractals initially originated from one of the most dominant company that one of the partner owned and represent the uniting of our clients in creating AMD group as a new venture. This image was the approved design after design development.

24.

Interior Design The interior design initiated from tweaking the hotel operator standards combining it with our client’s ambition to have their own imprint on all of the hotels they owned.

Planning The Bhagwan Center in Thamrin was a project for Bank Swadesi. It was a renewal project for an existing building. At that time the building codes allowed for additional floor area and to realize this an additional level was added to the existing 8, creating a taller building and more space for the client. The old facade of the building was stripped and replaced by a simple glazed facade to provide more light into the building. In addition to exterior changes of the building, there were a lot of changes made internally. There was only one fire escape in the building, to comply with codes a scissors stairwell was constructed in its place, making 2 fire escapes available without taking away space. All the mechanical and electrical systems were renewed, and a service lift was added to the core, as the building did not have one.

Housing Cluster

34.

Planning The Project was to design 3 houses on a parcel of land that was previously a single home. The narrow frontage each house receives, after being split into 3 cautioned for extra care. The plan was created based on function separating the service and served spaces of the house. Once the required sizes for the two spaces were met, we explored the plan further, playing with the plan to make it a comfortable environment that provided flexibility to its future buyers. 35.

Architecture One of the ideas for the house is to make it have a neutral design, giving future homeowners the chance to modify and arrange the interior space to their needs. The façade is also kept simple and clean aiding to the idea of a “neutrallyâ€? designed home. Materials used for the house were kept to a minimum palette consisting of three main materials, concrete, glass, cement. The wooden strips would be cement wood, removing the problem of rot overtime. Making the house easy to maintain.

36.

37.

Interior Design The end result of the interior design will completely be controlled by the future homeowner. The key idea in our design is that the allocation of the spaces in the house maximizes the environment of each space individually, providing light and ventilation for every room. Homeowners through their own modifications and decor will be able to add their own individuality throughout these “maximized spaces, thereby creating their own home in a comfortable environment.

38.

39.

40.

Our renderings show the possibility and quality of the interior spaces.

Architecture The Kelapa Gading Office project is a 15 floor tower that will house the client’s own corporation. Two identical mirrored towers are joined on the ground and at the top, creating a void space in the middle, which will allow light to penetrate deep into the building. The resulting above ground floor space also opens up a garden for the employees of the tower to gather as a community. To achieve a building with a wider frontage the left and right façade of the building is treated as a massive wall to comply with regulations, and both sides are clad in brushed aluminum, which has a reflective quality, adding prominence to the building yet diffusing glare and undesired mirror effects, thereby not disturbing its context. This project is currently in design development.

Architecture The Pecatu Villa was well planned and executed as a simple design with simple materials. The client wanted to have a tropical experience and to emphasize this we maximized the landscape space. The buildings “L” shaped footprint was attained by focusing on views that the site could have, this gave all 2nd floor rooms views towards the ocean. The resulting footprint also created a threshold for the pool area with a connected living room, providing the client’s family and friends a space that blurs lines between the outdoor and indoor.

Planning The Project was commissioned as a study. The owner wanted to know if he was able to build a hotel on this very small site, and how would that outcome take shape. Thus the main idea was to explore the site’s maximum potential for the building of a hotel.

55.

The site is located on a hook and therefore is set back from both sides, leaving a smaller buildable parcel, circulation is then placed on the setback. We attached the lower part of the building to the neighbours site, as we required space for the hotel back of the house where natural light was not completely necessary. The floors above were double loaded with rooms and its mass setback from the neighbours site to provide windows to the rooms for natural light, at the same time the open space left by setting back the top floors of was made to house outdoor facilities of the hotel. A rooftop facility is added to the building, for retail or hotel facilities. The buildings most prominent appearance is its perforated faรงade. The perforated screens were placed on the front of the building which is the western facing side of the site, thus the screen filters the afternoon sun from the rooms placed in this area.

Planning PJD was the initial planner and concept architect for Aloft Hotel at Jl.Wahid Hasyim. Our scope involved getting the maximum built up area for our clients through the navigation of planning regulations and exceptions, as well as making the building layout, including all zones and service placements. Through the planning process we achieved 180 rooms, 2 cafe/retail spaces (including 1 for the hotel), and a rooftop viewing experience of Jakarta’s CBD skyline. During design development PJD acted as an in-house architect to the client. 61.

Planning and Architecture A delicate project presented itself to us at the prominent site of Jl.Pangeran Diponegoro. The regulations on the site required us to preserve a part of the Old Dutch house and our response was to build lightly beside it, creating a reflective glass structure that recedes and reflects its surroundings. Making a new building that does not impose itself upon the old but rather blends with it. The strategy is also appropriate to the site’s its semi-residential context, as the new building will again recede and not impose itself on its neighbors.

Architecture Sikh is a community that originally comes from East Punjab, India. The Sikh religion was founded in the 15th century by a holy man named Guru Nanak and was spread among the people by other gurus thet were believed to be the incarnations of Guru Nanak. The tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh, cut off this line of regeneration and officialy declared Sikh as a religion in 1699 AD. Following the official declaration, it was decided that their holy book would be based on the book of Sikku (Adi Grath/Guru Granth Sahib), which was symbolized as a representation of the other gurus. This holy book is now an important material inside each gurudwara (temple).

75.

The location of the holy book plays an important role in determining the physical shape of the temple. In the area where the book is placed day and night, the ceiling is made hollow, thus from an exterior point of view looks like a dome. The interior of this dome is decorated with beautiful mirror collages, as if the area above the book will forever ascend above the sky. This dome is protected by walls and a gate that prevent people from trespassing. This particular temple, which was built in 1996, is actually the relocation of the original temple in Tanjung Priok that has been established since 1925. For Primajati Desindo, it was a Pro Bono Project. It was an honor to design the Sikh Temple as well as supervise its construction.
