1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them? I think through this module, the main skills I have developed have been in the use of type and application of lessons learnt during the type module into my studio practice. I also feel that I have been using methods that Iʼve been researching for my dissertation in this module so it feels as if everything is finally coming together. I also feel Iʼve been much better at organising not necessarily my time, but how I approach things. Iʼve been much more confident in making decisions and contacting people to find out what I need and I think Iʼve gained some really valuable information from it. I also have a much better appreciation for screen printing and have improved massively in my ability and confidence when working with it as a medium.
2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process? I think, like I mentioned in the previous question, screen printing has been a fairly large part of this module, despite only starting it towards the end I have been able to get some really valuable skills and some nice outcomes as well. Also I have been working a lot with stock choice and feel Iʼve improved in my ability to use colour and stock together to create a more rounded identity and visually effective identity. Proposal has also been a huge part of this module and I have gained a better understanding of what should be proposed and how to do so properly.
3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these? Strengths I can identify in my work from this module have definitely been layout and use of type. These have been building in my practice I think from the very beginning and due to my research for the dissertation and contextual studies, and participation in the Type module I have gained a huge amount of knowledge in this area. This has allowed me to apply it within my design practice much more effectively and in a way that I feel communicates better than before, both aesthetically and in terms of itʼs content and delivery.
4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future? I think as ever my main weakness has been managing my time effectively, resulting in a fairly mad dash towards the end. However I do think there have been improvements in my organisation on the whole. Also decisiveness is still an issue as I often spend a huge amount of time fretting about things instead of doing, just trying and testing. But I think I know when I始m doing this and can work make myself go ahead and do things instead. I始m sure the best way to improve on my time management would be to implement to do lists, and checklists as I have been in this module, more effectively, and try to stick to them exactly.
5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
- Try to be much more effective in planning my time, using to do lists not more regularly because I always have one, but trying to stick to it more rigidly. - Make use of college resources such as screen printing and digital print much earlier on in the briefs as this will give me much more time to work out any problems within my design and resolve them for the next point of contact or submission. - Be more confident in contacting people etc and do it much earlier on in the process, contacting Team was really useful and could have been much more so had I been more organised and had more time. - More frequently look for peer and tutor feedback of my own accord, as I often find myself doing the same thing over and over even if it may be going in the wrong direction. Getting feedback is definitely invaluable to successful progression. - Be more prepared when going into crits and remember that having visuals is always better than just going in a trying to explain your idea from your own head. I am terrible at presenting at the best of times so would only be helping myself out by going in more prepared
6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate using an 驶x始) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor 1

Attendance Punctuality x Motivation x Commitment x Quantity of work produced x Quality of work produced x Contribution to the group The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
