Our portfolio includes an array of organic modern projects in California, Costa Rica, Minnesota, New York, and other destinations. While each P/K project is as unique as the clients, our work is always guided by a respect for the environment, an understanding of how a building should relate to its surroundings, and our commitment to exceptional design and enduring quality.
MEET THE P/K TEAM Like our clients, we’ve had an array of intriguing experiences that inform and shape our work. Lars, who has a home in San José del Cabo in Baja, has established businesses in Russia and taught architecture. After living in Antwerp and Rome, Gabriel designed homes, restaurants, and hotels in New York. Kristine, an award-winning photographer and assistant professor of architecture, designed and built her own cabin near Lake Superior. Since we founded P/K in 2009, we’ve been honored with many awards for our projects.

THE P/K PHILOSOPHY We view ourselves and our clients as stewards of the land. Using light, space, line, and form, we respond to the site to create an environment for living and working for the next hundred years. From small-scale renovations to luxurious, LEED-certified new homes and boutique commercial projects, we integrate sustainable design practices into every project, finding solutions that merge environmental thinking with exceptional design.
OUR CLIENTS Working with our clients is one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of each project. Our clients are entrepreneurs, artists, art collectors, designers, world travelers, and other intriguing individuals who appreciate great design and have a vision for how they want to live and work. Our collaborative planning process is designed to capture our clients’ thoughts and ideas, so that together we can create an environment that brings their stories to life.
P/K COMMERCIAL In addition to organic modern homes, historic renovations, and other residential projects, we also design mixed-use developments, restaurants, and other boutique commercial buildings. With each project, we collaborate with the developer and other partners to design innovative buildings that integrate into the existing context, align with local planning initiatives, and deliver measurable value.
THE P/K PROCESS We have a collaborative approach to the design and construction process, and we have the utmost respect for every person on the team, including the builder, interior designer, landscape architect, and craftspeople. While each of us may be the composer of the project in different ways, we can only truly hear the symphony when the orchestra brings it to life.

GETTING STARTED We look forward to hearing all about you—where you came from, what kind of homes you’ve lived in, why you selected a particular site, and how you want to live. We’d love to see your design books, pages torn from magazines, and your iPad with images from Instagram, Houzz, and Pinterest. We want to hear about your travels and see photos of cities and countries that resonate with you and other places where you feel most at home.
PLANNING AND PROGRAMMING Deeply rooted in classical architectural tradition, our proven planning and programming process is designed to clarify project goals, create a rational basis for decision-making, and ensure that the project reflects the clients’ values. While our process is rigorous, it is also flexible and collaborative, resulting in wonderful solutions that reflect our clients’ unique stories.
CREATING THE PLAN After carefully analyzing your site to understand the context, we review local zoning restrictions, building codes, and other requirements. We develop several initial alternative layouts and integrate your feedback, improving and distilling the designs to create one conceptual plan. We then use this plan to develop an initial construction estimate and help you select the right partner to build your project.
