I don't see why you want to be on the top search on Google. That was a statement my friend said to me the other day. For those who know better understand that being ranked at the top of the search engines means the life-blood to an internet business. For those ranked off the first few pages it means certain business failure Unfortunately it is that dramatic. So how do you get to the top of a search engine ranking when there are so many trying to do the same? The steps involved are quite clear and work in a serial format. This means that if you don't do step one correctly then steps two and three will not mean much. Of course it all starts with keyword research. To be on the top search on Google you need to pick keyword phrases that have traffic associated but also have low competition. You can do the usual step of putting your phrase into Google in speech marks and seeing how the number of web pages reduces. However there is more you can do. You can use a keyword tool that works out competition for you - however this is usually a tool you need to pay for. Usually the keyword tool will work out the competition based on the number of web pages with your keyword in the title and in the anchor text that is linked to another web site. Once you have found your keyword phrase its time to start to get your web site ranked to the be the top search on Google. You can do this in two ways and both need to be used. The first is on the page optimisation. This means putting your keyword phase into the content of your own web page. If you complete a blog post or create an article you need to put your keyword in the title and four times within a 400 page article. This gives a good balance of entering the phrase enough times but not too many times. The second is off the page optimisation. This is all about creating links from your web site to other web sites in your niche. The links need to have an anchor text which is the same as your keyword phrase. You can get good links by book marking, using the top video sites and links back from top blogs in your niche. The more link you have the higher your site will be ranked in the search engines By using a combination of on the page and off the page optimisation you can escalate your web site to be top search on Google.
