I’m extremely excited and give you a warm welcome to the April Issue of PK Fashion & Lifestyle Magazine! hen I and my team set out to create a monthly diary that would promote health, fashion, style and deliberate living, one thing we agreed on right away was to steer for the glossy images of the too-perfect, product-driven magazine that we always look for. What you will find in the April Issue of PK is a collection of inspired and instructive articles written by real, honest, down-to-earth folks who work hard to live knowingly. Providing a respite from grim reality, PK thrived, offering a mix of fashion, interviews, comprehensive commentary and an insider view … in short… A recipe that survives today! Before we cross that threshold, there is a whole season of festivities ahead and we are here to share that with you. We hope that this month-issue with our exclusive round up of the hottest happenings around the town will become much spicy. As the month of April is supposed to be called the ‘Bloomy Season…” So we are proud to have some exclusive stylish reviews of known brands from our clothing industry, like those who launched their Spring/Summer Lawn Collections 2016. Then next is something eye-catching as speaking of hot man, we decided to bring you the most up-to-date male model of Pakistan Fashion Industry in this issue, Waqar Ahmed Butt (Fashion Model). We thought it would be easy, but we quickly realized that there are a lot of good looks

has not been restricted to a single theme either, but skims across many moods. You will be reminded of Chinoiseries in one print, Victorian-era art in another, and Sicilian Majolicas in yet another. From monochrome to intricate floral regalia, or intricate embroidery, each ensemble package contains elements for the consumer to design their outfit in their own way. What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your brand label? I feel your competition should be with yourself and you should be your biggest critic, that way you can evolve and create something better everytime!

Asad Shafi & Mishal Asad Why did you take up fashion designing? Everything fit into place when Asad Shafi decided to start up Cross Stitch, he used to ask me to come in for my input and gradually I became a part of the team. Now I’m the Creative Head at Cross Stitch. Are you self taught or did you study fashion design? I haven’t studied fashion but I’ve learnt so much from my team, also it’s been so many years I feel, experience has taught me a lot too! Cross Stitch is an attractive and catchy name. How did you pick it up? We short listed about a 1000 names and asked everyone for suggestions. Asad came up with the name and it instantly clicked! Tell us about brand, Cross Stitch? What makes it unique from other fashion houses? We, at Cross Stitch, always try to reinvent the language of design; our aim is to offer something new and to make heads turn! Briefly tell us about your Spring/Summer’16 Lawn Collection, like its designs and prints? Our S/S’16 Lawn Collection captures the essence of Spring, the colors are bright and eye-catching while every ensemble carries a host of options, for an outfit that can be designed in myriad ways. These are all digital prints on lawn, with pure chiffon duppatas. There is inclusive embroidered detailing for placement on the sleeves, hemline, neckline or the pants. All the ensembles also include additional printed facings that customers can play around with; too. The design sensibility

If you could live and work as a designer in any era, which one would it be? I honestly love this era, I think it’s the time where you can walk out wearing anything if it’s styled well, there’s so much you can do, you have access to all the previous eras and you can personalize those with the current trends and create something new entirely! How much marketing is important for a good brand label like yours? And do marketing people tell you what to do or do they influence you in any way on the designing concept?

In this time and age, marketing is everything I feel! There’s an increasing awareness due to social media and intense competition! Brands who don’t market will eventually fizzle out since there’s a full throttle marketing battle, which is happening! Marketing teams don’t dictate us in any way, we’ve only worked with people we’re really comfortable with and who understand our design policy! What is the age group of people your brand love to design? I think at this point, we cater to everyone. We have our basic line which caters to the younger lot in terms of design and price. Lawn is targeted for everyone and our embroidered chiffon and Swiss Lawn caters to middle-age group and up. Then there are some other lines also like our formal organzas and grip tunics which again appeal to all age brackets! When it comes to design, what are the limitations you work with? You have to keep your customers in mind, when you’re producing mass quantities you need to sometimes give up on trends you love because they might not be so wearable and only appeal to a niche market! So that’s something we have to compromise on! How is your brand’s work received internationally? We exhibited in Dubai earlier this month and got a phenomenal response and our online store is doing super which gives us confidence for more international ventures! As summers have almost started and Lawn season has taken its position… So what do you think about designer Lawn trend? How do you

see this current approach by brands bringing their own Lawn prints? The market is huge and there’s so much potential as long as everyone brings their own design aesthetic to the market and offers something good in terms of price, quality and design. There’s enough space for everyone!

Mishal

EXPLOSIVE

Tell us something about the trends this bloomy season? This season is all about bold colors, motifs and structured silhouettes! It’s all about who brings the perfect blend of both in a wearable way!

RAPID FIRE!

What attracts ladies to buy Cross Stitch stuff? Our clothes are trendy and eye-catching and our quality of fabric is something we never compromise on, whoever has an eye for that will always come back to us! What is the one change fashion industry needs? The bitterness for each other’s success. One thing you hate about yourself? I wish I was more organized! Where do you generally shop? Amber Gohar, Elan and ofcourse Cross Stitch…! What makes you furious? Blatant liars and two-faced people. What makes your heart miss a beat? My sons.

Mishal with her son

Which model you think well carries your brand? Laila Ali Khan. PKFASHION&LIFESTYLE | APRIL 2016

CAST: Adeel Hashmi, Mohib Mirza & Sanam Saeed PRODUCER: Rizwan Saeed DIRECTOR: Naseer Khan GENRE: Romantic Thriller DURATION: 105 minutes t might sound a bit late for you to go through this review but we have done all our level best to give you a true picture of the movie review through this one. Well, let’s start with the buzz created about the movie. Bachaana movie official trailer won great applause and within just few hours of the trailer release we experienced unparalleled hits. People loved it and there is no doubt. The trailer sounded impressive just the same way both Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed did. The cinematography looked great with scenic beauty of Mauritius. Beautiful locations promised beautiful experience. Right from the melodious strings attached to the great performances, the movie had hit a high octane node. Let’s get back to the Bachaana movie review now. Well, the best part with this movie is that it is Pakistani. Some reviews suggested that it should be watched only to support Pakistani Cinema but is it the only thing to drive to the cinema? NOT AT ALL. Bachaana saves your money as well as it gives you good entertainment opportunities throughout the movie. Although, the movie is a bit shorter than the usual standard length but it really does justice to the movie plot and strategy. Some of the

media called it the copy of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. How do you think it to be like that? NOT AT ALL. It might sound alike but it is a different treat to watch. You can’t compare it with the Bollywood flick. Let’s check out the story of the movie. Bachaana movie story revolves around an Indian girl who comes to Mauritius with her husband after getting married over the internet. The things turn wrong as the girl find it a cheat and gets help from the taxi driver, a Pakistani boy. What comes next is what the whole movie goes through. It is all about Bachaana from the villain, Adeel Hashmi. The Bachaana movie music deserves thumbs up. Yaari, the title track has already made it big. The performances are great. The director Naseer Khan has done justice with all of the characters. The movie was made in quite a short span of time. Although there are some glitches when it comes to some action scenes as they could have been much better. The movie start is fast and pacy, second half is a bit slower, fewer clothes and low budget could be something to irritate those who just want to hate it but they are certainly pluses. Overall, the Bachaana movie is a ‘Paisa Wasool’ and a complete family entertainer romcom.

ARIES

MARCH 21 - APRIL 19 Last month on the 20th, the sun entered your sign and you entered one of your yearly personal pleasure peaks. This is a great time to get the body and image in shape and enjoy all the pleasures of the senses - as long as you don't overdo it. This is a happy kind of month. April is likewise a prosperous month. Venus crossing your ascendant on the 5th brings money and financial opportunity. On the 19th the sun enters your money house and you begin a yearly financial peak. The 22nd and 23rd bring sudden, unexpected money. You obtain the favor of the money people in your life these days.

TAURUS

APRIL 20 - MAY 20 Planetary power is now moving towards you, to the Eastern sector of your chart. This shift began in February and is currently much stronger. Though the Western collective sector of your chart is still powerful, there will always be at least 40 percent of the planets there, the Eastern sector has, for now, become slightly more dominant. Health and energy are useful all month but especially after the 19th.

GEMINI

MAY 21 - JUNE 20 Health and energy are much improved this month. If there have been pre-existing conditions they seem much better now. Improve the health situation in the ways mentioned in the yearly report. With Pluto retrograde from the 18th onwards (and for many months after); be more cautious with changes in your diet or health regime. Do your homework first. The romantic life leaves a lot to be desired, but this is an excellent nonromantic social period.

want to schedule rest periods wherever possible. If you keep your focus on the really essential things and let go of trivia, it will be easy to get the rest that you need. Improve the health status in the ways mentioned in the yearly report. In addition, it might be prepared to exercise more and to massage the head, face and scalp. Finances are effective this month.

LEO

JULY 23 - AUGUST 22 A happy and successful month, Leo. Enjoy. Health right now is a very good thing. The dust of last month's eclipses is more or less settled. The fire element, your native element, is very strong this month, with at least 50 percent (and sometimes 60 percent) of the planets in fire signs. This gives energy, enthusiasm, courage and the 'can do' spirit. There is great optimism. Nothing gets you down.

VIRGO

AUG 23 - SEPT 22 Health still is required to watch but is much improved over last month. Last month was a 'critical' health month. If you got through it with your health and sanity intact, you did very well. Pat yourself on the back. The eclipses are

over with but there are still some lingering effects. Power in the 8th house favors projects of personal transformation and renovation. We all have an 'ideal' self - the self that we are to become. This is a wonderful month to let that come through, to give birth to it.

LIBRA

SEPT 23 - OCT 22 There are a lot of love changes happening. The love life is complicated but basically happy. You're personally more popular than usual from the 5th onwards, and Venus is making subtle aspects of Mars from that date onwards too. So love and romance are happening - but, as we mentioned many times before, it is the stability of these things that are questionable.

SCORPIO

OCT 23 - NOV 21 Your 6th house of health and work became concentrated on March 20 and is still very bright until the 19th. Job seekers seem to have a lot of, many opportunities now. Even those already employed have opportunities for more work - overtime or second jobs. The only problem is the retrograde of Mars, ruler of this house, which begins on the 17th. This means that

SAGITTARIUS

NOV 22 - DEC 21 Last month the planetary power began to turn from the Eastern sector towards the social West. This means that the planetary power is moving away from you rather than towards you, it moves towards others. So should you. There was nothing wrong with your previous independence, and there's nothing especially noble about your concern for others - it's just the cycle you're in. This is a chance to take a vacation from yourself, many problems in life have their origin in excessive self-concern and be there for others.

CAPRICORN

DEC 22 - JAN 19 Don't allow yourself to gain over-tired. Improve the health status through head and face massage until the 6th and on neck massage afterwards. Craniometrical therapy will be helpful if you feel under the weather. Health and energy will improve after the 19th.

AQUARIUS

JAN 20 - FEB 18 Your 3rd house of communication and intellectual interests became very eloquent last month. On the 20th, and remains concentrated in the month ahead. This is a comfortable kind of place for you. It is very pleasing for students of all ages (Aquarius is an eternal student!). You're generally communicative, but this month you could go overboard if you're not careful.

PISCES

CANCER

JUNE 21 - JULY 22 Health became more delicate on the 20th of last month, and remains until the 19th. You're working hard and seem very successful, but just

these opportunities need more study and research doing on them - they might not be just what seem. Take good care of the homework; resolve the doubts, before accepting.
