The International Baccalaureate Organization began in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as a non-profit international educational foundation. The goal of the IBO is to help students develop the social, emotional and education needs of students in a rapidly changing world. The Diploma Programme is focused academic curricula for students ages 16-19 during the junior and seniors years. The IB has a reputation of excellence, rigour and relevance in education by preparing young students to be prepared for college and lifelong learning. Congratulations to the 2023 International Baccalaureate Programme Diploma Candidates.
Our theme for the 2022-2023 school year was “What’s Your Why?” Your “Why” is a statement of purpose that describes why you do the work you do and why you live the lifestyle you do. It is your calling. It is your conviction. It is your mission statement. It is a vision of your life’s work. All of this together makes up your personal “WHY.”
“My why has always been to improve myself and my community through working hard, and being involved with as many things within our community as I could be.”
“My why is making my family proud and seeing how much I can challenge myself.”
“My why is the people around me whether it be my friends or family that are always encouraging me to be the best person I can be.”
“The reason why I work as hard as I do is because I not only want to have people look up to me, but also respect me and have a inspiration to reach for their dreams…Also because I don’t want my parents to kill me.”
“What’s my why is such a good question. My why is being able to inspire the underclassmen. They’re the ones that are gonna be keeping the good and happy spirit alive within the school. They’re gonna be the next seniors and hopefully they’re gonna be able to inspire and spread knowledge to their underclassmen just as I did.”
“My why is to help people live their lives. Everyone in this school has been through so much, everyone has their own baggage and that can be the hardest thing in a lot of people’s lives, but being able to use it as a means to make something of yourself and live your life to the fullest no matter what you’re doing is so important. I’m proud of myself for making it to graduation and I’m going to continue to push harder just like everyone else around me because I don’t want to fall short of the things I’m capable of accomplishing.”
