SERVICES
Increasingly sustainability is seen as an important factor in hospitality. While the quality of our food is undeniably what sets us apart, our customers are looking for more. Working with Plan Bee Ltd will allow us to raise the bar in urban sustainability, while also providing an interesting talking point for our many regulars.
Marco Giannasi, Battlefield Rest Proprietor
Installed and manage two hives on the roof of Glasgow restaurant.
Worked with owner of the multi-award winning Battlefield Rest restaurant to install and manage two beehives on the roof of the city venue. The restaurant is located in a one-hundred year old B-listed building, once described as the ‘most exotic tram shelter in Glasgow’. The building was bought for a pound and lovingly restored by owner Marco Giannasi. Plan Bee worked with Mr Giannasi to involve local primary school and nursery children in the design and painting of the hives.
BENEFITS The hives produce nearly 50 jars of honey every year for use by the multi-award winning Battlefield Rest chefs in their main courses and deserts. In a crowded hospitality market, the restaurant’s sustainability commitment is helping them to stand out above the competition as customers make more ethical consumer choices. Battlefield Rest worked with the Plan Bee marketing team to achieve Scottish national newspaper coverage and local media interest. A photo opportunity was arranged with local children to support the company’s community engagement philosophy, with images featuring in national and local media. Significant social media traction was also achieved with a number of posts being reissued by our thousands of followers.
