CASE STUDY

As part of the beehive management partnership with one of the UK’s largest utility companies, Plan Bee devised the creation of a wildflower meadow to enhance and restore an area of recent construction. Plan Bee has already delivered curriculum based environmental education lessons to more than 18,000 young people. Using ‘seed bombs’ created in-house children at Stepps Primary School enhanced their lesson and discussion with a practical demonstration. Wearing bespoke branded beekeeping suits they opened hives and held up honeycombs. Following the beehive demonstration, they threw wildflower ‘seed bombs’ to create a rich, biodiverse source of nectar in the immediate area surrounding the hives.

Plan Bee constructed the opportunity to deliver media and community engagement opportunities on behalf of the Scottish Water partnership. The benefits to the utility included: • Event received front page placement in leading trade publications

Paul McKeever,

Stepps Primary School Head Teacher

• Scottish Water received bespoke communication plan and social media schedule • Plan Bee provided internal communication messaging for Scottish Water

• Video of event made to promote all elements of partnership, for use by both Plan Bee and Scottish Water
