Fall, 2016 Annual Dues The Neighborhood Association thanks the residents who pay their $35 annual dues. Your dues help provide snow removal (no city plowing), pay for upkeep and improvement of the triangles (delayed a bit thanks to STEP), and other neighborhood events and programs.  Nice Neighbors Please be considerate of quiet hours when letting animals and children outside. The city ordinance deems quiet hours as being between 10 PM and 7 AM. Please also be respectful of property and keep dogs on a leash when walking the neighborhood. And PLEASE pick up the waste from your dog!!!

Rules of the Road Now that the days are getting shorter, more residents will be out walking the neighborhood—sometimes in the dark. Please drive under posted 30mph and keep an eye out for pedestrians. Pedestrians, please keep in mind that the sun produces windshield glare during morning and evening commutes so please be proactive in watching for cars. When there are no sidewalks available, the National Center for Safety recommends to walk facing oncoming traffic, on the same side of the road as the oncoming traffic. Also, you should get as far to the side of the road as possible to provide additional space between you and oncoming cars.

Storm Sewer Management If you have a storm sewer near your property, please take a few moments to clear it of debris in order to keep the streets draining properly and quickly and keep our neighborhood looking tidy. Thank you! A ‘Stick’y Situation While our wooded properties are lovely, they can be high maintenance with so many fallen leaves, sticks and limbs— especially with the recent storms. Piled up limbs can pose a health issue as they are a haven to critters, spiders and snakes. Some resort to burning this waste. According to the City of Indianapolis website, burning leaves, stumps, grass clippings and waste lumber is illegal in all of Marion County and subject to a $2500 fine. However, residents may legally burn dried sticks, twigs, and branches that originate on their property. Please be considerate, however, as the smoke generated can create a nuisance for neighbors and can pose a threat to those with pre-existing lung conditions. A better solution would be to tie limbs and shrubbery cuttings in a 3’x3’ bundle and place out as heavy trash which is collected on the MONDAY of the FOURTH FULL WEEK OF THE MONTH (September 26th and October 24th) Safety First As days get shorter, chances of crime increase. Please prepare yourself by taking additional safety measures and being aware of your surroundings. If you need to call the police, and not a lifethreatening situation, IMPD can be reached at 317-327-6100.
