PLANNING DESIGN STUDIO LLC STAFF PROFILE
The character and location of our office provides a unique environment that fosters creative yet practical design solutions while reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and the application of green principles. As Landscape Architects we have applied design principles and sustainability practices, now called "green", throughout our collective careers. Whether it be the cooling of parking lot environments through the use of canopy trees; the reduction in client heating costs due to building orientation on a site for solar gain in the winter; or the use of recycled concrete for new trail construction material; our approach is not dictated by what is trendy, but by our professional ethics of conservation, stewardship to the land and enhancement of the interface between man and nature. We are focused on operating our business with sustainable methods. Some of these methods include recycling 80% of our office byproducts, striving to reduce paper printing by using electronic communication and documentation and serving water in a glass to our guests. During an office visit you may even notice our computers utilize energy efficient search engines, backgrounds and screensavers. We strive to practice what we preach, in the office, in the field and on your project, advocating "green" design principles, aesthetics, sustainability, resource stewardship and most importantly, creative site planning and design solutions. Planning Design Studio is proud to state that one quarter of its staff is comprised of LEED Green Associates.

Planning Design Studio staff members have completed a variety of projects addressing corridor enhancement and public realm improvements. Understanding adjacent land uses and the activities of both impacted businesses and the affected community have been critical to the success of each corridor improvement effort. The design process must be sensitive and include development of pedestrian spaces and activities required for a vibrant and memorable environment. Other important considerations include an analysis of circulation patterns so they address pedestrians and bicycles while meeting ADA requirements. Furthermore, amenities such as lighting, signing, site furnishing, public art, and plantings play a crucial role in making environments that are attractive to the ultimate users. The range of services provided by PDS on Public Realm projects include community visioning and input; corridor master planning & design guidelines and; the preparation of construction documents.
