Doing it the Flintstone way at the Wildevy 4x4 Day Dwarsrivier Mine supported the Wildevy 4x4 Day last Saturday . Through this day funds for charity are raised. They participated in the Potjiekos competition and some employees participated in the 4x4 driving
challenges. The day was filled with fun and Dwarsrivier decorated their stand to the Flintstone theme. Everyone had fun and agreed that although they did not win the competition it was worth it to participate. Dwarsrock(ed) at the Wildevy!
At Dwarsrivier’s base the Flintstone 4x4 was parked at the entrance.
While everyone was having a ball participating in the 4x4 Day or just relaxing, some where cooking up a storm in a potjie. Dwarsrivier employees enjoyed the day with their families.
The Dwarsrivier team prepared a tripe and a beef potjie.
Dwarsrivier Mine was not afraid to take on the challenges of the day in a 4x4.
Dwarsrivier spectators could easily be spotted during the day with their unique Flintstone T-shirts.

ANCYL hosts new premier
The ANC Youth League in Limpopo hosted Limpopo Premier, Stan Mathabatha at the Nelson Mandela Lecture at the University of Limpopo’s Turfloop campus on 25 July. Premier Mathabatha is a former leader of the ANCYL. The lecture formed part of celebrating the life of former president Nelson Mandela for his selfless contribution to the liberation the country. The ANCYL also used the lecture to launch the ‘Student Volunteer Brigade’ which amongst other matters is aimed at campaigning for the ANC with the aim on next year’s election.
Former Xstrata miners blockaded roads near Glencore Xstrata’s mines between Lydenburg and Burgersfort last week Friday and threw stones at several cars. A truck and a bus were set alight. A Police spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi, could not confirm the miners were demonstrating after Xstrata fired them. Police were called in earlier and reinforcements arrived from Polokwane and other stations. Three people were arrested and charged with public violence, while said several motorists whose vehicles were damaged had opened cases of malicious damage to property. The violence had abated by late Friday morning. As far as coulkd be determined the group of former employees resorted to violence after they did get bre-emplyed by Glencore Xstrata. The company fired more than a thousand employees on an unprotected strike after allegations of racial bias at the company’s Thorncliff Mine. Their positions were advertised, but
they were not re-employed according to reports. The three people who had been arrested appeared in the Sekhukhune magistrate’s court on Monday. Aacording to the SABC a spokesperson for the Workers and Socialist Party, Elmon Magedi , said “The battle that started as a war against racism has been escalated to a battle between community members, because the mine has decided to advertise posts that were occupied by brothers and sisters of those who are unemployed in the community; and unfortunately it has been aggravated by mine bosses who refuse to meet with the leadership of the community”. Magedi said when management advertised their posts, tens of thousands of people applied. Scores of dismissed mineworkers protested outside the court on Monday, singing songs and blaming the government for not intervening in the dispute.

Wishing her a happy retirement On Friday 2 August 2013, Joshua Generation will be saying farewell to a stalwart of the school. Ms Corica Albertyn has been in the teaching profession for 40 years and started at Joshua Generation in 2008. Corica is a very gracious and much loved Principal who always gives her all to the students at the school. For her no sacrifice is ever too big when it comes to the students. The students affectionately refer to her as “mommy” and this in itself says a lot about her character. She hasn’t only showed compassion and love at the school but she is also very active in the community, caring for the less fortunate. She is a tender and honest wife, mother and grandmother. Joshua Generation will be missing her but they also wish her a restful and happy retirement. (Photo and information: Joshua Generation).

Mototolo Mine donates blankets Mototolo Platinum Mine has an annual blanket donation project which starts on 1 April and ends on the Friday prior to Mandela Day (18 July). The project takes place in the format of a competition between employees, contractors and suppliers. The shaft, section and contractor/supplier donating the most blankets are rewarded with a floating trophy which gives them bragging rights for the next year as the champion of the relevant category they participated in. The purpose of the project is two-fold, collect as many blankets as possible and to commemorate and participate in the now global Nelson Mandela Day theme. This year the competition once again ended off with the donation of 785 blankets to various institutions located within the broader Sekhukhune area. Blankets were donated to institutions representing the elderly, disabled, vulnerable, children and HIV/AIDS affected people. It is a privilege for Mototolo Platinum Mine, Contractors and Suppliers to participate in such a worthy project and theme. (Photographs & Information: Mototolo Mine).

‘n Ry helderkleurige bras was by hul punt opgehang.

Your opinion about the new On 18 July a new Premier was sworn into government in Limpopo. Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha took over the position after the previous Premier, Cassel Mathale resigned. Upon his acceptance of the position Mathabatha told those present that Limpopo is “full of great opportunities amidst complex difficulties”. He added: “We must make it our primary mission to root out corruption wherever it manifests itself. It is for this reason that we call on all our people to join us in our endeavor and renewed efforts to defeat crass materialism, consumerism and other ills that threaten the moral fiber of our society. Those found guilty must be made to pay for their misdeeds. We cannot allow people to use state resources for personal enrichment. This is the taxpayer’s money. It is meant for nothing else but the improvement of the conditions of living of our people”. He urged people not to feel anxious about the changes happening in the Limpopo government. On 19 July a reshuffle of MECs was announced. The MEC for Education is Ms Dikeledi Magadzi, MEC for Health and Social Development: Ms Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba; MEC for Provincial Treasury: Mr Rudolf Phala; MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism: Mr Charles Sekoati; MEC for Agriculture: Ms Rosina Semenya; MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture: Ms Merriam Ramadwa; MEC for Public Works: Mr Dickson Masemola; MEC for Roads and Transport: Mr Lehlogonolo Masoga; MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison: Ms. Joyce Mashamba; MEC for Cooperative Governance and Human Settlement and Tranditonal Affairs: Mr Ishmael Kgetjepe. We asked readers whether they’ve heard about the changes and what they think about it and the promise of a renewed fight against corruption.
Mr Adolph Kgwete said: “No, I’ve not heard about the changes. I don’t believe anything politicians say. They don’t ever fulfill them”.
Mr Elliot Madonsela said: “Ja, I’ve heard. I cannot say if they will be better than the previous ones. They deserve a chance to prove themselves”.
Mr Sammy Masite said: “I’ve heard. There is no hope. There will be no change in the corruption. Since there are elections coming they may try to change just to satisfy us to vote for them again. Once you vote for them the corruption start again. Some of the MECs who left made mistakes, but I don’t approve of the change with Masemola. He should have stayed where he was”.
Mr Tonic Mashabela said: “No, I’ve not heard. I don’t think the new MECs will make a difference. There is a lot of corruption. I believe that only God can help us to solve the problems. We can cry corruption, but only praying that God help us will make it better”.
Links: Me.
Mr Jeffrey Motswiane said: “Ja, I’ve heard. Mathabatha did well in the Ukraine. Maybe he can make good changes in Limpopo. But people are also the same. When they want to be elected they make nice promises, talk sincerely and then they never fulfill their promises. I don’t trust anybody. These people only want fame”.
Mr Ditabeng Moagi said: “Yes, I’ve heard. Mathabatha is responsible for things now, so it is his choice if he appoints new MECs, as long as they will give better service. Let’s give him time and space. He is a man of the ANC, so let’s wait and see”. By haar is Drikus, Daniël en JD.
Mr Ronald Kobe said: “No, I’ve not heard. I don’t believe anything politicians say they want to do. They just want our votes. I don’t think the new MECs will be better. They just got the job because they pushed the new Premier to where he is”.

Limpopo government leaders Me. Hy gaan beter doen as Cassel. Hy het goeie mense gekry om hom te help, maar ek weet nie watter sukses sal hulle kry nie”.
Mr Peter Mashau said: “Yes, I’ve heard about Stanley Mathabatha. I think he will improve things. The fact that he reshuffled his executive committee shows he is serious about rooting out corruption”.
Mr Sipho Mashapa said: “Yes, I’ve heard. I don’t believe their promises. They keep on promising but service delivery is like a white elephant in this province. I would have preferred that Cassel stayed on. Corruption is coming from national and that is why we are still supporting Mathale”.
Mnr. By hom is Jean-Pierre.
Mr Nicholas Shai and Mr Victor Mokgotho said: “We don’t know anything about politics and we don’t believe anything politicians tell us anymore”.
Mr Titus Makofane said: “I’ve heard. I believe he will improve things in the province. I don’t think he appointed good people as the new MECs. It happened so fast”.
Mnr. Ek weet net Mathabatha is ‘n Zuma man”.
Mr Anthony Mashego said: “Actions speak louder than words. We cannot judge the new Premier from what he is saying now. What we need is service delivery. I think the period is too short for him before the elections. He must make sure he means business. We appreciate the changes in the Limpopo administration”.
Mnr.Ernest Lekwadu said: “I think he is the right guy. If he can work with the right people he can root out corruption and make things better. I trust him. I think the new MECs are the right people”.
Me. Sinah Nare said: “Yes, I heard there were some changes. I don’t believe he will be able to make things better. There is a lot of corruption. People get positions but don’t always deliver. I don’t know”.

Mountain biking at the Wildevy 4x4 Day The second annual Wildevy Mountain Bike race took place on Saturday last week. The race was well supported with even a few professional riders in attendance. More than 300 entries participated in the various categories. The route crossed beautiful mountain terrain, farm lands and even through an area with game such as wildebeest. The 70km participants started first at 08:00. Then the 35km riders followed by those taking on the 10km race. For the children there was a fun 2km route to complete. Early morning refreshments was supplied by the Waterval CVO school’s stall. Local businesses also sponsored water points along the route. A festive atmosphere kept everyone warm at the start with JB Willers as the master of ceremonies warning riders to be careful of snakes along the way. As the mountain bikers returned to the finish they were able to freshen up before heading towards the main festival area on a tractor and trailor. The prize giving ceremony took place at the festival stage and special recognition was given to a team from Hoërskool Lydenburg.
The complete results for the day is available on the Wildevy Mountain Biking website. Visit: www.wildevymtb.co.za to get the complete result list as well as additional photographs uploaded by the organisers. The Wildevy Mountain Bike race is set to become one of the highlights on the Mountain Biking calendar in the area and enthusiasts are encouraged not to miss out on next year’s event. The organisers thanked everyone who contributed towards the success of the day.
